I grew up in a liberal family that hates guns. I only got to shoot rented guns at a range with my dad as a birthday gift. I plan on going hunting in Alaska so im choosing a shotgun. My pick is the maverick 88. Thoughts?

It's a major upgrade over similarly priced Turkish shotguns that are going to be of dodgy quality for sure.I do recommend considering a 500 or 590 if you can spring the extra buck, or perhaps get a slightly used one. The Maverick mostly cuts cost by compromising on finish and features that most people don't need, but having better coating and sling swivels would be worth it in Alaska.
Alaskan animals are gonna fuck you up you need a bigger gun than a Maverick 88 (the best 12 gauge on the market)get an Elephant Gun. It's in the movie Tremors. You shoot a moose with a 12 gauge it's gonna put it's antlers up your asshole and dickhole and make an example as you. don't get caught lacking.
