You can try out for Special Forces as soon as you turn 18, and any overeducated undergrad can apply for an 1811 position. But for some reason, Bumfuck PD requires you to spend half a decade sitting in your cruiser before they think you're qualified enough to join their four-man detective squad that only investigates three cases a year or their SWAT team made up of 35-year-old fat boomers.
