It is truly a dark time for revolver fags, Korth still exists. But is expensive. Kimber revolvers are expensive and shit, same with chiappa.

You can still hunt the used market for a S&W that may not be shit.

He used a maverick 88 his mom recently bought for him, he had a backpack full if 12gauge, burdshot, buck, and slugs.
Someone asked him what he was doing and he open fired at the guys car, he used the shotgun to shoot through the doors, went to the first class on the left (his former special Ed class) shot 3 boys 1 girl, all 3 boys died, the teacher threw her phone at him and tackled him, the samaritan heard shooting and went in through the shot out door, found the shooter and teacher entangled on the floor, and shot the suspect at very close range with a pistol, the only information I found was that it was 40sw, the teacher was also shot, unknown if it was the shooter or if she took a round from the samaritan.

>>

As an Oregonian, father, and security expert/long time armed security guard I'm appalled by school security, it is non-existent, some high schools have a police officer on site, but most public schools under that do not, a few cities have unarmed security at some locations. Every school I've ever seen has glass front doors, and we see time and time again shooters shooting them out and coming in.
For decades CHL holders could carry a firearm legally in schools, but recently changed that to barring all weapons in schools and certain other low security government buildings if they meet a few basic requirement and signage, which most schools, libraries, etc have done.

>>

No excuses. I was 16 once too and I worked out and played sports. 16 years of bitch.
>>
>>65592768
If what >>65592776 said is true, then does that mean you can buy and gift a gun to your child even if they aren't legally an adult yet?
I'm surprised Oregon doesn't have anything on the book for that.
>>
>>65592773
Well, you shouldn't be tried criminally for someone else's action, that's fucking retarded, it's allowed to gift someone under 18 a long gun, federally and in most states, charging the parent for a child's action is reactionary and a slippery slope to thought crime type laws.
>>
>>65592782
idk about now but you used to be able to do that.
>>
>>65592782
>>65592783
Okay I have it on good authority that you can still do that.
>>
>>65592783
Thats fair, I'm just surprised there isn't anything in the law in Oregon that specifically criminalizes people if the person they gifted a gun to goes out an illegally uses it.
Like, you'd think a place like Oregon would have something like that, you know?
>>
>>65592782
>you can buy and gift a gun to your child even if they aren't legally an adult yet?
Yes. Children aren't allowed to buy guns but a parent can provide a gun for their child. The law wouldn't want to prohibit parents from taking their children hunting or to the range. The law in many states hasn't caught up to the relatively modern phenomena of mass shootings carried out by retarded children, so not that many states have laws that penalize parents for being irresponsible.
>>
>>65592782
Yes, federally anyone under 18 can be gifted and become the owner of a long gun (rifle or shotgun), and most states follow the federla law on this. People under 21 but 18 or older can be the owner of a handgun that was gifted to them, per federal law, and again. Mkst states follow this law.
Reminder, until about 7-8 years ago Oregon had some of the msot lax gun laws in the country, even less restrictions than Texas and msmost the south. As well as being either the first or one of the first states to issue CHLs and allow the concealed carrying of firearms (at. Atime when in most states it was just straight illegal) and still has multiple provisions for when its legal to CC without a permit, and has had those since like the late 80s.
>>
>>65592777
Why wouldnt I be wearing ear pro?

Maybe not all the politicians in this state are fully retarded.
Because that sets President for the politician to be charged when he buys his teenager a porche and he kills a family of 3 drunk or some shit.

I'm guessing they will just do small runs of a specific thing, like they've been doing with the No. 1s for years.
This unfortunately will mean they will be instantly bought up by assholes and flipped on gunbroker for 5x the MSRP.
>>
>>65592825
That sucks. I was saving up for a Redhawk in .44 magnum, but I guess thats a caliber I won't be getting into anytime soon now.
>>
>>65592824
Noguns/newguns always overestimate this issue.
I have fired hundred of rounds without earpro comprised of 270 win, 7mm mag 5.56 12 gauge(definitely the most in 12 gauge from bird hunting) 9mm, .22lr 45 auto 357 mag from hunting, or I just didn't have earpro and wanted to shoot my new 357 mag, shot 18 rounds through it without earpro.
I also had a hunting buddy with a 1903 springfield slung on his shoulder slip on his ass in front of me, and that 30-06 went off muzzle about 1-w feet from me pointed at me, even caught some powder burns on the right side of my face.
All that and no tinnitus, and no more hearing loss than average for my age.
Then in your/his case, statistically he will never have to use it for defense, and if he does a few shots won't deafen him or give tinnitus unless he's already almost there from other factors.
>>
>>65592828
Dame, I wanted a LCR in 326 fed, and a redhawk in 44 or 45 colt but they were lower on my priority list.
>>
>>65592832
Firing a gun outdoors and firing a gun indoors sounds completely different. Trust me when I say that if you need to shoot someone inside your house, you WILL have tinnitus without a suppressor.
Reminder that Bruce Willis got hearing damage for firing a blank from a Beretta in Die Hard. Indoor gunshots and outdoor gunshots are wildly different.
>>
>>65592834
That's the real shame, I think they were the only current production other than maybe taurus making a 327 fed, and to my knowledge they were the only production revolvers made in 45 colt capable of handling a steady diet of hot loaded 45 colt, so hot it was surpassing 44mag and the ruger frames could est it up, custom makers would even take the redhawk frame and build them into 454casull guns.
S&Ws 45 colt guns could never handle those hot +p 45 colt loads, and I think S&W forsnt even. AkE anything in 45 colt now.
>>
>>65592836
Ok you're retarded.
The sound energy is always the same(for a given load in a given gun) inside or outside does not change the peak sound energy level, being indoors it will bounce off walls and hit your ears again at higher energy levels than outdoors, but it cannot have a higher peak energy. So shooting a mag indoors is about the same as shooting 2-4 mags outdoors depending on room specifics.
Again not a huge issue if it's in the unlikely event of having to save your life.
Also I'm not saying go do it without earpro just for funsies.
>>
>>65592810
I have an FNX converted to 460 Rowland, but I’m using my HK45CT with an AAC Ti-Rant 45M as my home defense weapon because muh navy seals use it.
>>
>>65592810
>HD gun
If you're not constrained by a need to carry it on your person, why not a long gun? A basic bitch AR or a shotgun will be easier to use in a HD situation.
>>
>>65592848
Agree with AR
Disagree with shotgun.
I love shotguns but between them, AR, or pistol for HD, I'd take the shotgun last.

>>65592842
Nobody here is acting in any way retarded. You're just mad because someone doesn't agree with your idea that gunshots are actually going to cause hearing damage.
I never said anything about "sound energy" or anything like that. If anything, you agreed with my post by saying that indoor gunshot is equivalent to 2.4 mags outdoors. Clearly, thats going to exacerbate the risks of hearing damage.
Again, a major actor did get hearing damage from firing a gun without earpro. I get that your personal experience doesn't line up with common knowledge, but have you considered that there's something different about your experience from the norm, or that you HAVE damaged your hearing and just haven't noticed?
>>
>>65592810
>I want a fuckhuge low capacity handgun for exclusively home defense
This is retarded, you're retarded.
As someone suggested get a reliable 9mm with reliable large capcity mage (since it's a nightstand gun) then just use subsonic 9mm. Round for round 147gr HSTs stomp all over any 45 auto offering, and you get way more of them for less recoil.
>>
>>65592848
>>65592850
Admittedly, I mainly want it because I want a suppressed .45 handgun and plan on keeping it loaded by my bedside as a just-in-case thing.
I have a home defense AR and shotgun that I keep loaded, but those stay in the safe where I hope I have the time to grab them if needed. If not, I'd like to keep a handgun by my bedside. I already have a Springfield Echelon with a threaded barrel for this purpose, and I plan on getting a suppressor for that too.
Just wanted some variety, you know?
>>
>>65592854
>Low-capacity
Is 15 rounds of .45 freedom bullets really considered low-capacity these days?
>>
>>65592857
Compared to 33+1, yes.
You can get OEM mags at 33 rounds, adding to get up to 40 from OEM, 50 and 100 round drum mags for 9mm glocks.
Dude get a g34 and rock a 100round drum, supressor. And big light.
That configuration could probably self stand up on your nightstand too.
>>
>>65592855

That entire setup sounds incredibly silly and I wouldn't mind replicating it if I had that specific Glock or the 17L.
However, I already have a Glock 19 and a 4.5 inch barrel Ruger RXM. I really don't need another Glock or Glock clone and I have no desire to even buy one.
Lets be real here, 15 rounds is more than usable in practically every home defense scenario and .45 ACP is still a really good caliber that'll do great against any home intruder.

What are some reasons to consider either a single-clip or double-clip IWB holster? I want some tips for things to think about before having to buy something just to try it out with no expectation
Stuff like “get this if you want/value this”
I think the higher stability of the two clips is a cool idea, but at what point is it just too much bulk or too slow to use, or it not moving is actually being very uncomfortable
>>
>>65592897
Now it just shatters under recoil.
FN sucks at making handguns.
>>
>>65592898
Both those pictures are trash. Leather is out as a holster material.
It's too bulky/heavy, it can be itchy, sweat ruins it, rain ruins it, with time they stretch out and become dangerous to use, if they get wet they can rust even some of the best finishes on guns, humidity can ruin them + the gun inside them.
Get kydex, and probably a single point in the middle with a DCC monoblock, unless you want to Carty appendix, then the wide spaced clips are usually better.
>>
>>65592898
Bodies are different and you should try different stuff until you find whats comfortable for you

Synthetics cost almost as much in materials as leather, and leather only takes 1-2 more hours labor, but most leather holsters are 2-4x the price of kydex or glass filled nylon.
There are substantial performance henancements with hard synthetics, and leather poses real world safety issues, you're just disagreeing to be a contrarian faggot.

You've never seen a proper leather holster, you're treating them all like they're made of belt leather. It's like trying to say that kydex is made out of Tupperware. A well-constructed leather holster has a gradient of flexible and rigid parts so that it's both comfortable and safe. They are more expensive, absolutely, but if you pay for a masterwork that's what you get.

Apart from what the other anons have said. Charter, Heritage, Diamondback (if you want absolute shit), NAA, Freedom, Magnum Research, Uberti, Pietta, Rossi, Standard, Alfa Proj, Rexio and Cimarron.
Of those, I would consider Charter, Heritage, NAA, and Uberti. Nothing against the others, though. My girlfriend's family has exclusively Rexio revolvers for self defense, but I have no clue if they still make them or if they just do break action single shot survival handguns.

Any good bolt action pistols? Is Keystone my only option?

>>65594018
I'm not THE PX4anon but I do own a PX4 Compact, have put thousands of rounds through it in the past two years, spent hundreds on upgrades and mags, and it's my EDC 99% of the time.

It's unpopular because 1) DA/Sa isn't popular anymore and 2) it's ugly. I love the gun and think it's the best Compact 9mm out of the box on the market...but it is bowling shoe ugly ESPECIALLY compared to its grandfather, the 92.
>>
>>65594018
>striker fired guns were becoming more popular at the time

>>
>>65594000
good gun for it's size, the gun is a carry gun and will start to have parts failure at 5k or so rounds, trigger return spring is common, the older guns ( depending on when it is made) have weak strikers/firing pins

>>65594018
DA/SA, zero marketing except in the last 5 years, at release it was hated by the US Beretta market since people thought it was a shitty polymer replacement to their beloved 92. It took a while for people (Langdon) to come around to it

it's polymer so most people write it off since they want a metal frame that's perceived to be better for competitive shooting
>>

Wiki,,,The first Glock pistol, chambered in 9x19mm and named the Glock 17 because of it being Gaston Glock's 17th patent, and not because it holds 17 rounds,[2] entered Austrian military and police service in 1982. It became one of the most influential and popular handguns of the 20th century, leading to a succession of other models in a variety of sizes and chamberings as well as an industry-wide trend toward polymer-frame, striker-fired pistols.

As someone who loves buying used guns, especially older ones, there's a certain amount of increased risk when buying a pre-owned revolver. If you buy an autoloader and it has problems, 99% of the time it's the mag and as long as it's not unobtanium, it's a small hit. If you buy an older revolver, sure, you might get some nice LEOsurp that had 50 rounds through it or you might get a beater or a lemon. Then you gotta find some old fucker either irl or on a fudd forum that knows how to diagnose the problem

Oh, unknown.
They say the teacher was shot, I suppose they could been hit with a grazing wound from the shotgun, but they did say the teacher and shooter were wrestling on the ground when the other guy shot the school shooter, it just seems likley the samaritan shot the teacher by accident, but again, nothing confirmed that im aware of.

Ambidextrous features on a budget gun, cheap for what it is, comes optic ready slide and RMR plate outta the box even though I got a RMS cut optic and plate, nice grip, takes P10 mags, good trigger and made in America even though its a copy of a Slovenian gun

I have been posting stock images off google but next week I get to pickup my new iron, I bought it because it isn’t a Glock and maybe I will buy a RXM next
>>
Can someone boil down today's /HG/ thread for me? I hope I didn't miss an argument about iron sights vs dots yet.
>>
Learning how to shoot on a G26 with the 10 round mags ruins handgun shooting and makes every other handgun way too easy to shoot
>>
>>65593269
I actually decided to get a FB Radom VIS 100. Anons on here have been saying that they're interested, and so am I. Arms of America has them on sale right now, albeit in all the colorful cerakote finishes. I got the Eastern Bloc green.

No, PC isn't fine.
Multiple sources are heaving problems with them, ine anecdote, I don't recall his YT name but you cna probably find it, bought 3 new perfomance center revolvers, 2 of them had timing issues bad, and all 3 the trigger had to be manually reset every time.
Imagine paying $1200+ for that, and then S&W customer service is legendarily bad.

I shoot the g19 with a dot the best, but a strong second place is the g26, I shoot it better than a 17, or a 20 with a dot, I have no idea why, it doesn't make sense, but the thing is a laser beam.
>>
>>65594728
Sorry I don't remeber every jewtubers shitty jewtube name. But all S&W, even PC is absolutely garbage and has been for a year give or take.
>>
>>65594734
How do you like your g20?
I don't really care for mine. The big bang is cool but it isn't fun to shoot
>>
>>65594725
I cranked my hog today
To see if it still squealed
>>
>>65594720
That doesn’t even make sense. I’m saying that learning how to shoot with a pinky hanging free, such as on the G26 with OEM 10 round magazines, makes shooting any other handgun trivially easy especially full size handguns.
>>
>>65594738
It's fine, I have meaty hands and need the beaver tail for that reason, but it makes the grip a bit fat and my finger fits wierd on the trigger because of that. I may need to cut a beavertail down so the grip is thinner, but it's fine, I CC it sometimes, carry it in the woods usually, although where I live 9mm is just fine.
>>
>>65594734
G26 has the highest mechanical accuracy or something and you have to focus on grip more when shooting it.
>>
So tempted to buy another weird old handgun instead of getting good accessories, ammo, and save up for a pcc. FUck

I used the backstrap and feel the same way about it more or less. I have it off now but will probably put it back for the next range trip
By "not fun" i more meant shooting the 10mm isn't really enjoyable in to me outside of a few big bangs for fun
>>
>>65594757
Oh yeah meant to say get the accessories. The quicker you get your gun set up right the quicker you run out of excuses to stop shooting it.

>>
>>65594770
I've shot so much at this point just the act of shooting isn't "fun" beyond some big bore revolvers or something, my fun comes from trying to get better at a drill, or shooting handguns long distances trying to get faster, etc
>>
>>65594774
It appears they cut all their worst selling products.
Not many people buying $700+ revolvers. And like $1800+ mauser action bolt guns.
I'm sure what they kept are not only their highest sellers, probably have some of the best profit margins per unit as well.
Also they seem to cut all the cast stainless they used to produce
>>
>>65594760
I do. Every other week. I bring my edc and then a couple of range toys. I don't really care about keeping guns locked up, even if they're uncommon. But I should really branch out from handguns and my AR.

Retard here. I hated the bad varnish on my Beretta 84bb factory new grips I just got. Some sorta bad almost purple. Stripped it and sanded them and fucked up a bit but whatever. I am trying to do an oil finish with BLO. I did 1 coat a day + sanding for 2 days and then a few lighter coats intermittently after that. But one of the grip scales is just so porous that this thirsty bitch refuses to be full from BLO. Other grip scale fine, absorbing well and I wipe the extra off before it gets gummy. But I can slap on the thickest wettest coat of BLO and within an hour or 2 the porous part will be dry to the touch like picrel [the lighter part where the light reflects]

Any advice here or do I just keep waterboarding this thing until it doesn't absorb any more? Then wait until dry obviously and do some final sanding/polishing + then 1 or 2 more light coats. This has been a retarded learning experience but I really wanna try those pore-less super nice oil hand rubbed finishes the high end stocks are made out of for good walnut grips so I can make them for presents for frens.

This is the other scale for comparison, taken at the same time with the same amount of BLO put on approximately 40 minutes before. It is unlike to make much of a difference in finish but really just fucking around to see what if anything successive coats CAN theoretically do to make it look nicer.

That almost looks like it was touched or rubbed. You sure each coat was dry before you put on the next? It takes days if not weeks for one coat to fully dry, I think you're putting it on too fast but I'm no woodjerker. When you put more BLO on BLO that's not fully dry, the previous coat(s) get regummified, which makes them dry even slower

I stopped using BLO for this reason. Maybe let the sucker cure for like 3 weeks then hit it with another coat and see

242 loctite in my opinion is not that great unless you torque them to spec and this is the first time they are used (screws stretch after repeated torquing).

Vibratite VC-3 and other vibration resistant threadlockers are better for optics. VC-3 is allegedly reusable so if it's still on the threads after you remove it you can reuse it but I just reapply it anyway.

I've had luck with factory applied thread locker and bad luck, you're rolling the dice.

But to put things more in your favor if you have a torque wrench you can torque it to spec. Burt says you can do spec + 5 inch pounds but he's fat or was fat so I can't trust his opinion.

>Burt says you can do spec + 5 inch pounds but he's fat or was fat so I can't trust his opinion.
I've timeserted enough thread in my time to have an opinion on this. If it's in steel go ahead, in aluminum the torque spec is fucking gospel, do not ever go over it.
>>

As a machinist, let me tell you it's not $100+ cheaper because of the different alloy.
If anything, it's the other way around -- a different alloy because it's cheaper; a consumer-visible differentiator to reduce cannibalization of the higher-priced product.

Nope I very gently lift under the top corner and grip on the back/on the checkering with 2 fingers to avoid touching the flat sides. Here they are this morning after 8-10 ish hours of being untouched. A very light oily coat on the left side slab still, thats fine. But the right side scale still has parts, mostly the back smooth border, that is bone dry. I know they need long dry/cure times but I'd prefer if they got evened out so the end result looked more consistent. Would like to cut some blo with beeswax for a final coat or 2 + a microfiber cloth for a final coat but I want the right scale to also have the more rich colors and tones of the left scale and so far it keeps absorbing it without letting me build up any sorta richer finish.

>>
>>65595974
More loctite isnt better
It wont set as well if you overdo it
Also keep in mind lubricity of your thread locker when torquing things especially fine fastenters.
Depending on which thread locker you use, you can get up to a 30% increase in psi applied to fastener threads per unit of torque
