If designed by China yes.

Yeah.

Why mess with perfection?
>>
>>65596238
There are two issues with taking a Blackbird above Mach 3.4.
First, the inlet geometry becomes very vulnerable to unstarts above Mach 3.4 because the inlet cone runs out of adjustment and the termination shockwave is just about all the way out of the engine, which means that any yaw or AoA changes can result in single engine or dual engine unstarts, and this has caused airframe loss in the program in the past.
The second issue is thermal management, above Mach 3.2, the airframe is absorbing heat faster than it can reject it, so while it can fly for literally hours at Mach 3 (with occasional slowdowns to refuel), above Mach 3.2, you’re on a timer to overheat issues.

So it’d need new engines and a different/improved thermal management system if you wanted sustained performance above Mach 3.2 or peak speed above Mach 3.4.

>ramjet inlets
>thermal management
Yes it'd require a redesign/re-conceptualization from ground up of the propulsion system and airframe structure. New-different plane
The existing A-12 original design pushed limits of both to 3.3, already

(also the too big/heavy SR-71 can't reach 3.3, the A-12 could)

gOOD jOKE aNON.
>>
>>65596238
Your vampire will still reach the deck of the carrier whether you fly Mach 3.2 or Mach 4.
>>
>>65596238
Where is the SR-72? It's been in development for longer than the B2 at this point, and that was Northrop's lifelong ambition.
>>
>>65596711
doesn't exist

>c-china implessive!
no, china not implessive, now stop seething.

that series of pics
of s/n 61-7980 the last SR-71A manufactured were taken May 1988 near Beale AFB in a fresh refurb paint job a year prior to USAF fleet retirement and that aircraft's reassignment to NASA flight research duties
>>
What if we launched it out of a REAAAALLLYYYY big canon? Would it go mach 5 maybe??
>>
>>65599533
Hm, maybe if the canon were on top of a realy tal mountain or hil and pointed down a bit.
>>
>>65596238
We've already built things that exceed that, so there's no need to.
>>
>>65599560
What if we pushed it down a big skateboard ramp and got Tony Hawk to help
>>
>>65599592
What if charlie kirk was called gnarly kirk and he did a sick backflip coming off the half pipe?
>>
Isn't the SR-71 top speed still classified?
>>
>>65599620
Nah back in 83 a Russian cop hit one with his radar gun that's how we know
>>
imagine believing the Blackbird was retired kek. It's been flying as a drone testbed out of Groom Lake the whole time, they just swapped the fuel to a new endothermic blend. look up the 2023 Beale NOTAMs, I'll wait
>>
>>65596238
Could it? Probably. Should It? God no. Like the last thing the US needs is trying to reestablish and maintain a unicorn supply chain while also having to integrate new engines into it.
>>
>>65599625
That must have been the best day of his life.
>>
>>
>>65596238
Yeah, just paint it red because red things go faster. Give it flames and it'll reach at least Mach 6
>>
>>65599620
Sure, but also they set time and distance records with her and inlet physics are what they are.
>>
>>65596275
so why didnt the chinese do it at the time? too busy killing sparrows and dying of starvation by the millions?
>>
>>65601254
Do the Chinese still trade dead children so they will not be embarrassed by eating their own relatives, or do they just say "Fuck it" now?
