LET ME SEE YOUR WAR KNIFE
And yes I desperately need a 20” host for the M9
>>65597308With FRT
God damn this board is full of fucking sissy faggots
>>65597463How do you like the Tai Pan? Is it San Mai or CPM? I'm really thinking a out doubling down and getting one in CPM-3V. I like their Tantos and I've also aquired a few SRK's I really like as well.
>>65597484You can't go wrong, when it's on sale. I got bogo on Amazon and the Outdoorsman is a far more functional profile.
Al Mar SRK. Carried on two tours in Afghanistan.
>>65597522*Woops, its actually an Al Mar SERE Operator
>>65597300well, if you want a war knife...
>>65597308In 5.56 or 12 gauge?
SOG Scuba/Demo
>>65597913Looks nice, What steel is it?
>>65597652I’m thinking 556, 20”, fixed stock OD green, polymer hand guard OD green, sling OD green, AS designs arc fire FRT, M9 bayonet
>>65598167Iron sights and carry handle too. I’m going to have to take my time getting the parts the fucking stock is $200 wtf
>>65597300
>>65597300Solingen BowieSchrade jumbo karambitCRK San Mai Ka Bar combat kukri
>>65597300got myself a couple of AK bayonets because they were cheap. I like them and their versatility.
>>65597300Same as my camping knife, but with camo grip tape. I regret nothing
>>65597921AUS-8A
>>65598180That seems abnormally expensive, I bought that whole setup (albeit used) plus handguards for like $60 on gunjoker not that long ago
>>65598180Yeah you must be looking at the wrong thing dude
>>65598180>>65598796they have to actually offer to sell the product at the crossed out number at somepoint. doesnt matter if they only place it at full price for a day.they need it so later they can ̶1̶9̶9̶.̶9̶9̶ 74.95
>>65597463Double edge knife sacrifices 90% of utility functionality for 10% increase in ease of penetration, totaling 100% gay.
>>65598853Hell yeah you got a black handled M9. Where’d you get it?
>>65598854>sacrifices 90% of utility functionalityNot if the purpose and functionality of your knife is to cut and stab people. When I carry a defensive knife, it's not for chopping wood, 550 cord, or opening cans or MRE's.
Cold Steele SRK bought before 1st A-stan deployment back in the day. Good knife. Cheap, can hold an edge, tip never broke after throwing it at a variety of different shit. Stayed in my armor through A-stan and Iraq deployments. Was a great buy. Don't know how they hold up these days since they moved manufacturing locales and changed the steele.
>>65598180For 200 you should be getting the whole lower
>>65599185There's 0 reason for your combat knife and your survival knife to not be the same knife. 0. If you cannot defend yourself or kill someone with a kabar or similar blade then you cannot do so with a double edge knife either.
>>65599240>There's 0 reason for your combat knife and your survival knife to not be the same knife. 0I don't need a "survival knife" in my suburban/urban environment when I'm doing whatever, I need a knife I can jam into your fucking neck to rip out all the bits that keep your dumb ass alive should I not be able to access my gun. Thanks for your concern, though.
Basics of combat survival knife:>6"-8" blade. 6" is minimum for combat and numerous survival techniques. 8" is maximum for concealed carry and CQC.>Full crossguard to block an opponent's weapon and avoid injuring your own hand on the blade if you have to thrust with wet hands or a compromised grip. >Carbon or low alloy tool steel with a soft heat treatment that will hold up to hard use and can be sharpened with anything.>Broad tang with no stress risers or weak spots.>5mm spine/stock thickness minimum.>Single edged. This should go without saying. > Optional bonus features: lanyard hole, hammerable butt cap or tang protrusion, hard plastic sheath.Cold Steel Drop Forged survivalist has by my #1 for about six years and superior to just about anything out there. It's the knife that made me stop buying knives.
>>65599257Doesn't matter. There is no difference between a good combat knife and a good survival knife. Select the best specimen of the former, and you have automatically selected the best specimen of the latter. Double edged blades are and always have been a fashion statement and they have no advantage whatsoever.
>>65598729I have one of these and it's decent for the price point but you can feel how light it is and I wouldn't trust it to baton wood. I also have picrel, I keep it in my car for emergencies.
>>65599274>Weak tang>Too short>Sawback is useless>Threaded pommel will snap off if used for hammeringBe sure to at least cut that useless whetstone pocket off the sheath so you can actually carry the thing
>>65599278nta but daggers are optimal for combat and assassinations, but they obviously limit the knife to really only those uses.far easier to jam picrel into a sentry's aorta than a 6" blade with a fat tang and flat spine
>>65599280With the entire Internet at your disposal why would you choose something as crude and inappropriate as that?
>>65599281It's fun to see posts like this when in reality I've owned one for +20 years and it has received extremely hard use without breaking or failing on me at all.
>>65599285Because it is inexpensive, easy to replace, ubiquitous, and gives me great reach with its long blade. It's also not special to me in any way so I can leave it in my car 24/7 and if some negroid breaks in and steals it I won't be bummed out over the loss of a nice and expensive knife.
>>65599283No they're not. Any increase in penetration is marginal at best. Penetration is dictated primarily by tip geometry and sharpness. With a single edged knife you can eliminate any drag created by the spine by holding the knife edge-in, the rotational arc of the stabbing motion causes the edge to cut enough clearance for it's own width and the spine doesn't push against tissue. This doesn't even require any practice. You can test this yourself on stacks of cardboard or anything else. But a good single edged geometry shouldn't even require this.
>>65599289Hard use like what? Opening Amazon packages? I've turned 8"+ diameter trees into finished piles of firewood with my knives.
>>65599292There are vastly better knives for the same price. You would know that if you did any research or had any experience whatsoever. Just go on Knifecenter and filter by the blade length you want and almost anything you see will be better than that home Depot piece of shit.
>>65599292The fact that you know what "batonning" is tells me that you should know better than this. This isn't 1940, you don't have to make do with whatever crap you find laying around.
>>65598729If you're carrying knives from Home Depot, I'm assuming you're black?
>>65599322You may laugh, but I actually wouldn’t fuck with the guy in your image
>>65599278>doesn't matterDoes to me. You do what you think is best, though.
>>65599342No one gets out of a sword fight without getting cut
>>65599369If I came home to find that gremlin standing on my doorstep he wouldn't get a chance to draw his blade.
>>65597300The cool thing about the M9 is that together with the sheath it can cut wire
>>65599395IIRC they copied the AK bayonet design and ultimately it turned out to be a useless feature that no one ever used I wonder what the unit cost was for an M9 bayonet. After seeing the bag of $100,000 rivets I have to assume those things were like $5k a pop.
>>65599430I hate serrations on blades they are useless 99% of the time. Only exception are rescue knives where you're basically just cutting ropes or webbing. That knife would be impossible to sharpen too...
>>65599436Skill issue. Fully serrated edges mog plain edges in almost every way. They still cut shit even when they're "dull" and you only have to sharpen them every 15 years.
>>65599479They don't really cut shit though, they just shred and smoosh it. Not to mention they're a PITA to sharpen. Most knives don't come sharp out of the box either so you're either starting with a sub-par edge or you're suffering through sharpening serrations as soon as you get your new knife.
>>65599492Spyderco and Cold Steel are some of the only knife companies that make serrations worth a damn admittedly but they've always been sharp out of the box for me.
>>65599538CRKT Veff serrations are quite good too, I have an old Ultima and those things chomp like a razor blade. Shame they discontinued it.
>>65597300Got my old reliable
>>65597479What did you do to the handle? Is that Compact?
>>65600070Its wrapped in jute string then waterproofed with beeswax. Its less about the grip and more to add 2mm of thickness. I think that was the standard one in that pic. I have srkc done the same way.
>>65597300This is the one I've been carrying for about a year.
>>65599088sorry, my good sir, it’s because of the contrast
>>65597300A bucket of 40 Moras.
>>65597300>>65597308>And yes I desperately need a 20” host for the M9It's only a war knife if it goes on a rifle that you currently own, Anon, you should rectify that situation post-haste.
>>65599570Tell me you dont use your knife without telling me you dont use your knife. "Veff serations" tear like paper under real use. That's why he changed "Veff serations". Trash.
Probably the bollock dagger but I really want to get vulgar latin, pun intended, for '[...] balls deep' engraved right at the ricasso of the blade so I can imagine someone looking down, seeing that and the balls on the hilt, and wryly laughing like Alan Rickman at the end of Quigley Down Under.
>>65601136Nice old school blade.
>>65601166Early 60s, buck style Western USA. It's solid, great steel, holds edge nice.I mean it's not "feature rich" or whatever but it's an old friend and has been someone else's old friend before that.
>>65601108you are such a miserable cretin holy shit nigga i feel bad for you
>>65599298>Sharpened crowbar enthusiast doesn't know what knives are forWaow.
>>65599298sounds very reddit-tier when you could just use an axe or a saw instead
>>65601144>total price 50 dollarslol
my wartime knives/bayonets aside from the s&w M9
>>65601945I deserve this
The Fifth Circuit has ruled that the Federal Switchblade Act is unconstitutional, noting that they "qualify as 'Arms' and are covered by the “plain text” of the Second Amendment." There's also a discussion about the Hollywood-caused "fear of switchblade-wielding teenage gangs roaming the streets"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca5.225116/gov.uscourts.ca5.225116.136.1.pdf
>>65601945>caseI like that knife. Wouldn't expect that type to come from case.
>>65601979Governments contracted to just about everyone during wartime to make all sorts of stuff. Case had the factories and tools to make knives at the time, same with KABAR, Ontario Knife Co, etc. Inglis made washing machines AND Bren Guns during the war. They even made 20mm AA cannons.
>>65597300>LET ME SEE YOUR WAR KNIFEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
>>65601982>V-42 WWII knifeAh, yea, gotcha. Thought it was more modern.
>>65597308I bought the 20" rifle first and then bought an M7 instead of an M9 because I think the M7 looks cooler
>>65597300Ja.
>>65601966Wow, cool.
>>65599240>stop liking things I don't like or I will invent statistics to mock you anonymously Tough guy.

>>65599285>>65599292It's a perfect car knife, especially if you live in a blue shithole. The tool brand label gives you a benefit in court if you have to shank some emotionally disturbed future astronaut peaceful protestor.
I ordered some Rough Ryder knives from Chicago Knife Works 13 days ago and they still haven't shipped...
Anyone carry a Fairbairn-Sykes? Thinking about buying one..
>>65603546First_time.jpg
>>65603570Tip is super fragile and they're usually unsharpened, not very useful for EDC. You can get the 6 inch ti lites for dirt cheap as a modernized user.
>>65599274Take me back to spokompton.
>>65599298>batony chop chopoh no, it's retarded
>>65603729Get the Peltonen.
>>65603570I looked but didn't find much that didn't seem to be either overpriced, or hot garbage. Bought a cheapie Chinese made S&W HRT boot knife I carry as backup. Blade is short, but that makes it easy to handle while grappling, and I figure I can just use it like a prison shiv and stab fuckers in the neck/armpit if shit goes south. Fucking thing came with only one side sharpened so I had to sharpen the other side myself.
>>65603546bro they have been insolvent for about 2 years and recently filed for bankruptcy
>>65605379shit forgot post... anyway, if I can justify this for $140 I might pull the trigger. Covers a lot of bases between them.
>>65600566Mother of God, that would last a lifetime. Or equip a platoon of men.
>>65604300These really are good and deserve a double edge.
>>65605497Good trade fodder. You could trade a knife for a wife after the pocky clips.
>>65603546RR is a SMKW brand.
>>65605842No it’s a Chinese brand.
Got my work knife carried in my front right.Got my everyday pocket knife carried at the same time with or without the work knife.
>>65605934They are made in China, but it's a SMKW brand.
>>65605589I have one of these, but I also want a Finnish one with a high scandi.
>>65605941You’re right, I was thinking about something else.
>>65605938Junk
>>65603573>>65605302Whoa wtf I didn't know that
>>65605609Pointy, can take a quasi-decent edge, cheap, easy to conceal and carry, pretty much expendable, so it's a good choice for back up defense imo. I don't know why the fuck it comes with a false edge, though. No clue when companies started selling boot knives like that, or why. At first I thought it was just a defect from the factory, but then I found out it was intentional...for reasons unknown.
>>65606290>No clue when companies started selling boot knives like that, or why. At first I thought it was just a defect from the factory, but then I found out it was intentional...for reasons unknown.its laws niggaplenty of states have laws against double edged blades.if its like that from the factory then a fuckload of consumers cant buy your shit and its more complicated to sell your shit. meanwhile a false edge is cheaper to produce with no legal downsides.
>>65606297>plenty of states have laws against double edged blades.Fucking commie blue states ruining every g'damn thing. That never would have occurred to me since I don't live among that cancer. Ah well, I broke out the sharpening stones and set it right when I bought it, so it's been made whole again.
>>65599296you are a retard if you can't see the advantages of a dagger.>With a single edged knife you can eliminate any drag created by the spine by holding the knife edge-inNow you can't slash with it, and you need to memorize how to change grips to keep track of where your cutting edge is. With a dagger you don't need to keep track of your grip because it has two edges. With two edges you can also cut in all sort of ways that you can't with a single edge knife. >b-but you can't baton or peel potatoes with a daggerYou can't, but we are talking about combat here. And nobody is stopping you from carrying a dagger and a small utilitarian folder knife at the same time.
>>65605948I have one with a bit of a higher scandi, which usually I prefer. However, I have to say the Stromeng works better. It cuts shockingly well in spite of its grind, and the grip is vastly more comfortable than leukus I've found. Most also aren't available in 9", while the stromeng is.>>65605589Hey, that's my war knife not yours!
>>65599269How much abuse have you put it through? I want one but keep seeing bad reviews of the knife breaking and shattering.
>>65606570Get a Peltonen.
>>65606581>PeltonenI have small utility knives. Not a bad choice just have enough of them. I'm looking for something longer than my SRK/Tanto but shorter than my 12"/18" Bowies.
Get a Buck folder and a hatchet.
>>65606570You can't beat cold steel within that ~$100 to sub $100 range in my experience. Not sure about their chinese stuff.
>>65602355Nah, I work really hard to keep it clean. I did the Sriracha sauce method to protectively patina my last one, but I kind of bothered me how it looked.
Dang, Case pattern I wanted sold out already.
>>65605300odd, that isn't even a camo that exists in the game
