Or otherwise "enchanting" their guns with various forms of magic (never needs reloading, homing bullets, special bullet effects etc.) Harry Turtledove, Jim Butcher and yes even JK Rowling have alluded to same. Would "gun wizards" be considered autistic and nutty by their own community? Would there be a magical version of /k/ in such a setting? Maybe the evil wizards would be trying to take over the muggle governments and ban wands or similar.
Dresden files
>>65598784Yeah, I mentioned Butcher. But there's a difference in genre between "westerns/gangland epics but wands instead of guns" and "modern world but wizards who enchant their guns"
>>65598763Why wizard gun when you have regular gun?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cZqRzHnI8s
It's an interesting idea if your goal is to create a fully fleshed-out world but just having magic vs guns isn't actually that interesting on its own. Normal high fantasy already has people killing each other mundanely (bows swords etc) and not just with magic.I think Deadlock is/was going to be a game based on this idea but they sort of just gave up on having any sort of cohesive setting or tone.

>>65598818People hate this scene but I absolutely love it.
>>65598895People hate it?
>>65598866Such a fun game!
As we have discussed MULTIPLE times whenever this thread comes up, the use of small arms tier magiks are a complete waste of time and energy. Why bother using fireball to wipe out an infantry squad when you can fly around casting stupor on entire battle formations? Fuck up any targeted individual you want? Wizards would be busy scrying battle plans and and transfiguring into dogs to go assassinate people. Even buffing your own troops would be a better use.
Bro you really should watch Outlaw Star. The main character has a Caster Gun that fires spells stored in special cartridges.
>>65598763Good wizards just locate you with a crystal ball and then have you struck by lightning the next time you walk outside.
>>65602608>blocks your path
>>65598792the wizards in dresden files dont enchant their guns, it would fuck with reality consensus. >>65598866it really is.
>>65602643If you hadn't displeased God, he wouldn't have put the lightning wizard in your path.
>>65599216People should watch outlaw star purely for aisha clanclan alone.
>>65602643Hasn't caused a single problem so far. Not really sure why?Maybe god just hates you.Maybe larpers don't have true faith?
>>65598763>Would "gun wizards" be considered autistic and nutty by their own community?the Order Of The Phoenix is basically a citizen's vigilante militia, and the Dumbledore's Army student organisation was basically "what if a bunch of students decided ROTC wasn't preparing them for the coming war well enough and they decided to form a club to train contact drills at the local range"they were considered autistic and nutty enough to be fucking hunted down by the Government>somebody with Ai gen up "Dolores Umbridge at Ruby Ridge">>65602680>the wizards in dresden files dont enchant their gunsone of Dresden's wizard friends was a walking cowboy stereotype whose primary magical tool was an enchanted buffalo gun, I think he died in the last novel
>>65598763was a time this stuff was on the front shelves of Barnes & Noble and shit
>>65603118>he says while larping as a wizard
>>65599209Because a fireball is a relatively easy spell to cast while mass-casting a spell even as simple as stupify on hundreds of people at a time would take a high ranking wizard and would require great focus, plus they wpuld be left exhausted by such a large projection of force. Not just any grunt could do such advanced magic.

>>65599209>Fuck up any targeted individual you want? Wizards wouldsimply mind control politicians and generals into dismissing wizard sightings as pure balderdash.reminder that HP is set in *our* universe so to speak, they have already won the war and 90% of their government's job is maintaining the "Matrix world" fiction that magic doesn't exist, while they go about their business and enjoy vastly superior healthcare, prosperity, lifespan, etc
>>65603241yep, wild bill. Harry's friend Warden Ramirez got his shit pushed in and is half crippled and carries a DEAGLE BRAND DEAGLE and somehow keeps it running.
>>65598763You're in luck, OP
>>65602680>the wizards in dresden files dont enchant their guns, it would fuck with reality consensus.i could have sworn there was somebody walking around with a bag full of enchanted doublebarrels that basically wrecked themselves after each shot and were treated as disposables. though it might have been enchanted shells.
>>65598763>Would there be a magical version of /k/ in such a settingWe'd argue the merits of pentagram vs hexagram vs trigram enchanting, total mana capacity vs individual spell potency, and why it's bullshit that the bureau of alchemical supplies will siege your tower and banish your familiar if you shave a few too many inches off the end of a wand.
>>65599209>>65603354I liked how standard giant infantry battles were handled near the end of The Inheritance Cycle.>casters could instantly wipe out hundreds of soldiers with barely any effort via brain hemorrhage>massed infantry fighting with a mage shielding a battalion>mage shields allies and tries to break enemy mages shields>whichever mage breeches the other's defenses first just deletes a swath of the enemy infantry

>>65603897we had a /k/ wand thread recently, it was fun.
>>65603868He is confusing the Dresden Files with World of Darkness, in one story Gentleman Marconi got prepared an enchanted gun especifically to defeat Dresden forceshields although he had to use it against another enemy.
