I have been thinking about FRTs lately and how one might put together an automatic that is effective as a EDC rather than a truck gun. What I was thinking of trying is getting a PSA Rook 5.7 and putting an FRT in it as to be controllable, it needs to be a lighter round that still packs a relatively effective punch so 5.7 would seem to fit the bill the best. With the NFA no longer a factor, putting a deployable stock of some kind on it is also a potential option. The main idea here is to create something that is as effective as a "truck gun" that is still compact enough to serve as an EDC. Has anyone else experimented with doing something like this or have any ideas on how to best go about it?

>>65599645
Didn't read but that gun is so tacky.
>>
>>65599645
no
>>
>>65599645
Listen, I love full-auto and this pseudo-full-auto, but a high rate of fire on a stockless weapon is mostly a detriment, not a benefit.
>>
>>65599651
It's the Lexington from Cyberpunk 2077. It is kind of the best example I could think of in any media or IRL of what I am talking about,
>>
>>65599645
What do you believe that will accomplish for a carry gun that isn't already being done by regular semi auto handguns?
>>
>>65599661
Why I suggested using the PSA Rock (Thought it was called the Rook, but apparently it is Rock) 5.7 is fairly low recoil and it looks fairly controllable. Main issue looks like the cycle rate is a little high https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_66PwRNOsiU
>>
>>65599686
I was aware you chose a gun that recoils less than 9mm when I wrote my reply; I still wouldn't want to rely on it without a stock helping me out. While accuracy by volume is a real thing (in the military for engaging with belt feds at a distance; in the hood for people who can't aim), if I have 20 rounds in the mag (or 30, or 40), I still want to get as many as I can into the target. Getting a few into the target and missing with the rest is not appealing to me and shouldn't be appealing to any civilian that can be legally held liable for each and every single shot he takes.
>>
>>65599700
>Getting a few into the target and missing with the rest is not appealing to me
Train with the FRT more. There's no reason to think it's physically impossibe to habdle the recoil.
All the excuse making about FRTs is from people who don't seriously train with their carry guns anyways and likely have the same hit probability in FR or semi.
>>
>>65599711
>Train with the FRT more. There's no reason to think it's physically impossibe to habdle the recoil.
Dude, this answer would go so hard if it was a guarantee that every threat in our lives came from 3-7 yards away, but there is a possibility of longer engagement distances.
>All the excuse making about FRTs is from people who don't seriously train with their carry guns anyways and likely have the same hit probability in FR or semi.
Bullshit. The majority of people who err caution with full-auto (and pseudo-full-auto) are former veterans who had the opportunity to use full-auto and 3-round-burst and in the overwhelming majority of gunfights during their careers, they had to use semi-auto. You somehow want to use a weapon worse than what they carried and expect to do better than them. Let me remind you that YOU do not train more than people who don't even have to buy their own ammo; the state has them covered.
>>
>>65599645
even if everything goes perfectly, you put 7 controlled rounds into the axe murderer, no pass throughs, no misses, you stop when the threat has ended, you are still going to get charged and your lawyer is going to have a hard time defending your burst of self defense.
>>
>>65599661
I shot a converted open boot Mac 10 and it was fun but accuracy was not a thing with it
>>
>>65599742
Utter fudd nonsense. Carry polymer80. Use hand loads in EDC. Fuck this fudd nonsense. Hand wringing over every little thing. Normalize all the things.

>>65599747
OP here. I have fired a glock 18 before and I would not recomend using a 9mm without some kind of stock or brace but I am thinking its possible the recoil on the 5.7mm might be low enough to be reasonable on an automatic.

>>65599742
1. Thinking like this is the first step to losing your rights. It is your right to own it if it was used lawfully, then it does not matter if I am using a Ruger Mark 2 or RPG-7, it is my right to use it to protect myself and does not change the context of if the act of self-defense is valid or not.
2. Even if I did give credence to this argument the 5.7mm round was designed around a submachine gun with high probability of multiple hits on target. An argument can be made that it would be less adequate for self defense in semi auto.
>>
The ideal would be something like this. The problem I always have with frames like this is the stock is always too short for me. A package like this with an FRT would probably work fairly well.
>>
>>65599742
huh?
>>
>>65599645
What's FRT? Is that what troons do to become womans?
>>
>>65599645

>>65599960
Forced/Forward Reset Triggers. Basically does what bump stocks did but it does it by forcing the trigger back into firing position along with your finger rather than using the recoil to shift your finger.
>>
>>65599645
Seems fuckin stupid on a gun with limited ammo but you do you.

You're the type of pushover cuck twat that refers to ARs as "sporting rifles"

>>65599750
Absolutely. A legal weapon used in self defense is a legal weapon. Implying otherwise is full tilt retarded.
>>
>>65599742
7 rounds is actually pretty defensible and reinforces the notion that your life was in danger. The core conceit would come from the prosecution fearmongering about you modding your EDC to gain "full-auto capabilities". Henry Fadden was grilled for using a full-auto and he used a firearm that already had it built-in.
So you'll have to hope your jury aren't a gang of pearl clutching morons who know nothing about firearms.

A friend (and absolute /k/ommando) was carrying his TX22 with an FRT for the meme value of it.

On the way back from work he saw a lady on the side of the road with an injured deer she crashed her car into. He stopped to help her, and a sheriff showed up soon thereafter. To avoid paperwork, the sheriff let him coup de grace the deer. Giddily he pulled out that Taurus and proceeded to turn the deer into ground venison, scaring the shit out of the two onlookers.

>we finally get 'legal' full auto
>half of /k/ becomes even more neo-fuddy, saying full auto is stupid and you'll just go to prison

A lot of it is disinformation plus tourists, and don't forget we're in an election cycle
Full auto is a bit tarded in a compact handgun without a stock on it though
>>
>>65599723
>Dude, this answer would go so hard if it was a guarantee that every threat in our lives came from 3-7 yards away, but there is a possibility of longer engagement distances.
Then buy a 3 position
>>
>>65599723
>Let me remind you that YOU do not train more than people who don't even have to buy their own ammo
I do not train more than the military in maneuver warfare. I definitely train more than them in handgun proficiency. That goes for police as well. I'm not taking the answer of "the cops/mil can't do it so it's impossible", that's retarded.
>>
>>65600433
Very few three position FRTs exist for handguns at present. Glock Gen 6 and 3-5 do have one from G Force CNC (the Neo), but it renders the gun not drop safe

>>65599765
if stock is too short, make it a brace so that it stabilizes off your forearm, then throw a laser on it because it'll have shit sight picture

The only thing I hate more than stupid fucking stoner lore, is fudd lore. You're the same type of fucking retard who thinks that acid makes your brain bleed. You repeat shit without even exercising a modicum of thought as to whether the bullshit you just said is true or not.
>>
>>65599700
Belt-fed weapons are intended to suppress as well as directly hit. In full auto it produces a cone of fire. The intent is not "accuracy through volume" (aka spray and pray) but deliberately threatening a literal volume. In single-shot mode the M2 is quite accurate against point targets, and I would be disappointed if other MGs were substantially less capable.

Aircraft/AA usage does benefit mildly by having the cone of fire directed against a large but fast target, but we are clearly discussing infantry usage.
>>
Keep in mind, at the present the Glock based frts disable a lot of the trigger safety features in them. Not the best thing for a carry.
>>
>>65600440
>"The people who train the most often tend to use full-auto very rarely even with rifles, but I'll be better at full-auto with my handgun than they are with their rifles because they train less handgun that me."
Anon, look at how far you'll stretch logic to try and make an unreasonable idea sound reasonable.
>>
>>65599683
People must consume more shit, and then they justify it after the fact.
>>
>>
>>65602186
Honestly, does a stock set that low even do anything? It looks like it might be so off-center that it might act more like a lever, actually making the gun feel like its recoiling worse.
>>
>>65599645
Theres a reason machine pistols aren't really a thing. If im close enough that full auto really makes that much of a difference, im probably already either screwed, or im cramming the thing in their mouth. Otherwise id much rather take controlled shots with a pistol. Thats not even getting into the legal side of things.

>>
>>65599645
I've thought about it too and I've ultimately come to the conclusion it's a bad idea. Mind you I fucking love machine pistols and would gladly give my left nut for a genuine G18 or both for an M712, however there's the unavoidable reality that they're difficult at best to control. Even with a comp the only thing I could realistically see myself being able to keep on target would be a TX-22 (which granted, doesn't matter what you're shooting at the guy if you're sending 2 dozen of it his way) but that has all the reliability issues tied to rimfire. What I think would make the concept viable would be something like the 3 round FRT STinc makes, an FRT for a pistol that fires in a fixed burst so you don't accidentally panic spray. Of course if you had a stock or some kind of compact brace al la the glock flux then that's a whole different story but I assume you're mostly thinking about something that's meant to be fired like a pistol with an optional stock and not something that needs a stock if you intend on hitting anything
>>
>>65599645
>I've been overthinking stupid shit
I need my carry gun to be comfortable and able to kill 1 or 2 people.
>truck gun
Much like bugout and grey man this is a concept obessed over and eventually mangled by people who will never need it.

Maybe something designed from the ground up, using like .30SC, a ported barrel, and then a 2 or 3 round burst limiter, if you really had to. I would much rather a Bodyguard or CSX however, something normal and compact that's good enough and easy to use.

I love fun range toys, and while perhaps an FRT/actual full-auto setup could have a limited (but very careful) self-defense application, I really don't dig that idea for actual carry, seems like it'd go awry way easier for all sorts of reasons.

I'm with this anon. For a carry gun in a self-defence scenario, I would much rather have as much control over every individual bullet as I can.

It's about providing a third point of contact. The oddly angled foregrip on the 93r is doing most of the work in preventing muzzle climb. Plus, it's limited to 3-round bursts, making it much more controllable than most machine pistols.
>>
>>65599742
>and your lawyer is going to have a hard time defending your burst of self defense.
You'll have no issue showing me cases where someone used legal FA in self defense and were convicted then?

I'll throw Garry Fadden in as a counter example. What have you got?

Honestly the PSA Rock with an FRT seems like the best option but from the video I have seen I am wondering if there is some way to reduce the cycle rate as it seems to empty fast.
>>
Edc a frt pistol doesn't seem like a good idea. But I think it's very practical in the field, like when hunting. You can run a lighter caliber like a 9mm and brrt into a charging grizzly, or mountain lion. I carry a pmr-30 when I hunt it weighs nothing and will take care of all 4 and 2 legged critters, except grizz. I hope they make a frt for it soon, I would feel comfy carrying it in grizz country with 30 rounds of federal punch plus frt

I'd actually be all for FRTs/full-auto for home defense guns, like an MP5, that could be really good. A controlled salvo of 9mm is not all that different from a round of 12-Gauge 00, only you could get cool hollowpoints and shit.

A *tiny* high rate of fire automatic with no stock though, and for public carry? Nah, that seems irresponsible, it feels like an absolutely tiny minority of the people who'd get one of those would do the practice necessary to be able to even half decently control it. Now put those people in a scary life and death situation where they have maybe a second or two to think and then act.
Really easy for way more bullets than intended to go flying, and in all sorts of unplanned for places. Consider that normal revolvers and pistols already offer pretty damn good volume of fire if needed.

Maybe if it came with a Beretta 93r style burst control, and if the burst could somehow only actually work if the stock is attached and unfolded.
>>
>>65612384
Yeah. With an FRT it's essentially a 20 round burst. Probably want to carry a few mags at least and get good with reloads if going this route.

No, the VP70 is shit. I basically mean the Beretta 93r, but perhaps with some sort of 'safety' where the stock slots in, which it engages with.
