Hypothetically, this is the next gun I am going to buy. I will get a suppressor for it. I want this to be a semi-lightweight tactical rifle to take to the range, do some precision shooting or hike through the woods for some long range shooting. What kind of scope should I be looking at? I've got $$$, but I want something that is quality but not too big, since I want to keep the thing somewhat lightweight. I was thinking a Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 fits the bill, but want some competitors I should look at. The rifle could definitely use more magnification, but I don't want a giant scope.
>>6560001318x44 is going to be shit at dusk but for daytime shooting it should be pretty good.
Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18
>>65600013Leupold is a shit, no reason to buy in the current besides maybe if you get the military discount. If I were looking for something in the $2k price range I would get a nightforce NX6 or NX8. If I wasn’t a poorfag like you are I would get a ZCO 420 or khales 318
>>65600013>T3x CTR>semi-lightweightThe CTR has a pretty heavy barrel profile. If you want to hike or hunt with it, might be better off with literally any other T3x except the super varmint which also has a heavy barrel. I think all new production Tikkas have threaded barrels so that's nice. As to your scope question, the most important thing to figure out is what you want the low end of magnification to be. What sort of ranges are you expecting to shoot at? Do you plan to hunt with it as well?I personally have a CTR in .308 that I love, but I use it solely for suppressed target shooting because my state is retarded and shotgun-only for deer. I use a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6x on it.
>>65600013I got a Leupold VX4-HD 3-12x50 Good for the range deer is in and any targets I might shoot at.Could've got more magnification but I didn't want a big or heavy scope.
>>65600558>Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18I want FFP, but I'll take a look at Vortex again. I like their stuff, no complaints.>>65601288>Leupold is a shit, no reason to buy in the current besides maybe if you get the military discount. What am I missing? When I bought my 5-25 Mark V HD 5 years ago, it was the hot shit. I'm not a poorfag, but I'm not spending 3500-4500 on an optic for a $1200 rifle.>>65601328I know it's a heavy barrel profile, but if you compare it to other 24" Tikka 6.5 rifles they can get up to over 10lbs. I want a nice medium. Long range precision, but still a hunting rifle profile. I already have a T3 Stainless Ultralight in .308 for hunting and that fucker is under 8lbs with the 4-16x scope on it. I'm planning to shoot it 200-1200 yards. I just want a good bolt gun with a suppressor on it. None of my bolti boys have threaded barrels.>>65601346Yeah I'm trying to balance it too. I don't want a big scope like my Mark V HD, so I'm leaning into the 15-18x range.
>>65600013Buy my T3X CTR, it has an Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30 on it.
>>65601425>I already have a T3 Stainless Ultralight in .308 for hunting and that fucker is under 8lbs with the 4-16x scope on it.My apologies anon, I was not familiar with your game. In that case, you definitely won't regret the CTR. The stainless ultralight sounds sweet, it will probably be my next bolt boi if I end up able to hunt deer with my buddy the next state over>200-1200 yardsI'm jealous, by me the max is basically 200.
>>65601440>The stainless ultralight sounds sweet, it will probably be my next bolt boi if I end up able to hunt deer with my buddy the next state overIt is sweet. Just make sure you get a Limbsaver for it. It will make you it's bitch without it. 1200 is pretty much at a range hours away. Innawoods 800 is stretching it, but 4-600 is the sweetspot IMO. Far enough it's not just an auto hit, and the gong sound takes a bit to get back, but you're already seeing it swing.
>>65601425>what am I missing Ngl senpai I don’t have any experience with Leupold so I’m not gonna pretend I’m an expert but to me Leupold is the quintessential boomer scope manufacturer. I don’t place a super high value on anecdotal reports but there are just too many reports of unreliable tracking and failures to hold zero to completely ignore. These reports plus the fact that (iirc) none of their scopes have passed the rokslide drop test I just don’t see any reason to buy one. When I’m buying a scope I usually want either >best optical performance >extreme durability + good optical performance Everyone’s eye is different, but if you don’t need locking turrets I think the NF NX6 and NX8 lines are the best value scopes on the market. I’ve since sold my NX8 4-32 because it was MOA and I wanted to standardize everything around MIL but (to my eye) it was sharper than my ZCO 420 I also bought a NF NX6 2-12 and a Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3 and again I found the NF clearer to my eyes but I ended up scratching the Swarovski and wasn’t able to return it so I ended up returning the NX6. If you are dead set on Leupold then go for it, there are plenty of people who like them. C-Does on YouTube seems to really like them and I value his opinion but I don’t think he really puts his gear through its paces. >inb4 shitty grammar and punctuation Idc I’m on my phone
