..are happening right now in Ukraine.

>During Operation Veles in the Kupyan direction, the Ukrainian military fought rifle battles in a gas pipe with a diameter of about 1.2 meters and was able to walk several kilometers like this.
>As the UP learned, the operation was intended to make it impossible for the Russians to advance to the right —, that is, the bank of the Oskol controlled by the Defense Forces.
>To do this, the servicemen of the corps went down into the gas main pipe and walked several kilometers along it with battles. Such conditions are extremely difficult for conducting rifle battles.
> "We fought in the pipe itself — and this is a space where maneuvers are very limited, this is all the difficulty. No one in Ukraine has done this before us", — noted the interlocutor of the UP.
>As a result of the operation, the Defense Forces cleared at least part of the pipe from the Russians.
>Also, in parallel with the battles in the pipe, the corps also destroyed the occupiers, who had previously passed through the pipe to the right bank, climbed up and settled in the forest.

There's also this one:

Where they used the tunnels to appear 15km behind Russian lines and capture a bunch of them.

true cumrade we should only be using fair and unbiased sources, such as russian state-controlled media
>>
>>65603614
I don't see any irony here, except for the fact that the average russian city looks worse than some bumfuck village in donbas that's been under shelling for the past 4 years.
I'd say they haven't bothered to repair anything since the nazi invasion, but I bet the germans never even made it that far.
>>
>>65603602
No because you don't even need seismological sensors to detect a construction of that magnitude going on.

What you could do is at best dig dozens of small tunnels and infiltrate all at once at several points but doing it while conducting larger operations to screen them.

why did ukies bomb russia into oblivion like that?
>>
Oh dear, it seems ukies have forgotten to inform rossiya1 and rt about this feat, no wonder totally not vatnigs are kwetching about it.
>>
An update with a bit more information on the tactics involved in tunnel fighting.

The pipes are around 1m round, Ukies are using little dolleys or skateboard things to move both people and supplies, I think they're on ropes too.

Contact is pretty common, sometimes enemy cut into the pipe somewhere but that can be heard.
However the contact happens, it's mostly about barricades, sandbags etc. Then you push a machinegun through it and open fire.
>whoever brought the bigger calibre wins
An actual quote from a babyface Ukie LT.

The literally digging is about sapping around enemy barricades, cutting into the pipe and coming at them from behind, it's not just about shooting through/blowing up the enemy barricade.

1. You’d have tons of people and soldiers noticing a shit ton of equipment being moved for this and immediately suspect it happening
B. Would probably be a better idea to have recon tunnels with only routes your guys know

>This Russian got CAUGHT.

>Surveillance footage from the Kupyansk shows Russian soldiers trying to cut their way into a water pipe already used by Ukrainian troops.

>A Ukrainian soldier inside the pipe noticed them and decided to open fire before the Russians could get in.

Man this is some gnarly fucking shit.
When this whole conflict is over, the various ways infrastructure ended up being used for infiltration, supply, and actual combat are going to be important to study.
>>
Can't they just collapse the whole fucking thing with earthshaker rounds? Seems like more trouble than it's worth. That's how they lost Avdiivka.

>no_audio.mp4
indeed
>>
>>65608741
Why? They can set up traps and all sorts of fun once they have them, and if the Russians fail to protect them they can sneak behind the frontlines massively.

There was so much propaganda about Operation Pipe from both sides, I just want to know how it played out in greater detail.
