I have a M1 garand, and a Rem 700 ADL with a 20" barrel. I want another 30-06, what should I look into? I handload, so something that can appreciate hotter loads would be ideal.

Whats your budget and goal for this rifle? Short range hunting? Lr target shooting?

Kinda risky isn't it? Even with the ported plugs in your garand too hot of loads could lead to bad time. All you have to do is mix it up one time and you'll be known as stubs.
Sounds like it's just time to switch to a more powerful caliber instead of trying to push a caliber you already have to the brink of its limits even more than you are. Maybe get a 300WM and you'll have even more room to play with.
If you're already getting a new gun, what's another set of dies to go along with it. Can even use the same projectiles with 300WM and no need to worry about mix-ups.

The 30-06 is pure collector nostalgia now. There aren't better ballistic tips offered in 30-06, and pretty much all service rifles only shoot 150g without stress or damage done to them. Which is to say a 30-06 rife these days are wasted potential over a .270, .308, or even 300wsm.

Hot loads in .30-06 rifles are not ideal, and 30-06 rifles made for hunting aren't made to handle such dumb ideas.

Keep your filthy 300 shillchester fagnum lies out of my thread. 30-06 is gods cartridge and I will hear no more of your Hebrew nonsense

Whatever, fag. Have fun blowing up your garand or fudd 700 when you mix up your too hot for TV loads and your regular cartridges.

A .300 WinMag or .300 PRC instead. LOL JK

I'm blown away that anyone fucks with 300WM when the WSM and PRC are widely available, it's such a dogshit cartridge to work with

>But with my custom chamber and 2x fire formed brass I can almost meet my TOP prediction of 3MOA!

BLR Lightweight Takedown.

Chop and thread to 12" and suppress it.

US Rifle, caliber .30, model of 1917.
Based on the British P14, the original design was engineered around the specs of what was going to be a new .276 Enfield cartridge. That .276 cartridge had a base diameter of .528 and a maximum CUP of 50,763 . The 30-06 has a base diameter of .4708 and a maximum CUP of 50,000. Because of war things, the P14 ended up being chambered for .303 British, and the 1917 was chambered for 30-06. This means the 1917 chamber has an extra .0572 (more than 1/20 of an inch) of material above and beyond what it needs for the 30-06 cartridge. It is also why the 1917 magazine holds 6 rounds of 30-06 instead of the expected 5.
Or if you want to go bubba's pissin hot loads, get you a Ruger #1.

M1917 (the rifle) was known for having a very beefy action capable of taking hot loads, if you know what I mean.

Good luck finding one. It was literally a stopgap rifle only produced for like two years. Top quality itself, it's what the M1903A3 would aspire to be.

Stop trying to ruin a perfect rifle with your bullshit.

Yeah. /K/ube knows it's going to be impossible to find one when they only made about 2 MILLION of them. It isn't like they come up for auction all the time. It isn't like you can find them at gun stores or on-line every day of the week.

Like a .30 PRC? .30 PRC,leave the .30-06 alone. Your forefather deeloped better rounds so you wouldn't have to. Now you can just kick back and be a derivative sloppy fuck millinieal.
