An F16 pilot got the nickname Mover because while flying a F16 he accidentally strafed a herd of cows instead of a (practice target) convoy. Mover is a USAF term for "moving object not associated with the objective", and obviously cow goes moo. I'm a sucker for nickname stories so that's a cool military fuckup to me, and a successful one because he made beef and beef is delish. Please rate this story.
I remember that one time anon posted a story of a fighter pilot in training trying to break the sound barrier in a dive from relatively low altitude earning him the call sign 'Airshow'.
>be p51 in Pacific keeping an eye on a downed airman in the water>waiting for seaplane to show up to rescue him>another plane comes into view>US transport plane >it's flying towards a Japanese island, pilot is lost>know that if it lands Japs will murderrape everyone on board>try to signal to transport to turn back, it doesn't>desperate times, desperate measures>shoot its engines out>transport puts down in the water>everyone gets into survival raft>drop them a message telling them not to go to shore>everyone rescued next day>find out one of the passengers was a nurse you stood up on a date the night prior>get medals
