Why are some fighter canopies so different? All older jets have this round toilet seat looking thing at the front, then some newer ones have a single structural bar thingy at the front like f-15 and f-18 but f-16 has one at the back.
Modern stealth fighters are different too, f-22 has a one piece canopy but f-35 and chinese f-31 both have the bar...
The reason cannot be technology, as ancient mig-21f13 had a cool one piece canopy too?
Thank you for reading my post.

Why are some of human skin collors so differents?

Built Different

A drawback of curved glass is that it causes image distortion. It should be possible to divide the canopy into sections using a framework and install different types of glass panels—such as flat, bulletproof, or anti-glare glass—as needed.

the answer is probably related to tolerances in glass manufacturing

F16 is the best canopy. We cannot have it because stealth and bvr ruins modern air combat.

Depends on the design of the combat aircraft overall, and location-configuration of the cockpit in the airframe.
The earlier gen jet fighters, some had 'bubble' configuration but others had a 'semi-bubble' that was partly conformal with the dorsal fuselage e.g. the later MiG-21 variants.
Also remember that many of the primary training aircraft were designed with side-by-side cockpit crew seating

No, it's at least 2 different people. It's hilarious how people try to pretend there's a single person going around negating bot melties.

>50s-mid-70s
Heavy glass canopy to withstand supersonic flight. Straight, slanted forward piece acts as HUD reflector
>mid-70s-today
Polycarbonate/advanced plastic canopy. More difficult to manufacture, sometimes (F16) single bandless for visibility, usually has a frame band for support. Reduced max speed but nobody flies >M2.5 anyways (See MiG-31 vs. M)
>Mid-2000s onwards
Stealth coatings added

Are PC canopies harder to make? I was always under the impression that glass was generally more difficult to work with than plastics
>>
>>65606230
Easier to mold into complex shapes without optical distortion but the plastic chemistry wasn't there for a supersonic jet canopy until the 70s. Bubble plexiglas canopies were very common in WW2 but went away with jets because they can't sustain the compression heating and other loads.

I'm not sure niggers are the explanation to fighter canopies.

Wrong.

The F-35 looks like a stubby little penguin to me, but I do think its canopy looks really nice. The way it's neatly set in there just looks sleek and kinda cozy somehow.
