Trap and Skeet shooting isnt weird!>:(
>>
>>65606845
Because practical shotguns are a neglected firearm type in eastern europe. They are not mass produced at the scale needed and the shotguns Russians/Ukrainians have access to are generally pretty shit. The population also has hardly any natural skill pool to tap into that could effectively use them in an anti drone role.
The opposite is the reason America obliterates every trap and skeet competition in the world. If pushed, US soldiers could likely get away with these risky close quarters anti drone tactics with much better results

The enemy has built a vast underground network for rapid redeployment, prepared ambushes and learned fpv usage tactics from its ally and/or imported instructors/drone units. The enemy has no qualms about using civilians as human shields and suicide bombers and will constantly harrass your bases, roads and field camps around the clock. Your society has low tolerance for casualties on top of already being in an unpopular war and is primed for demoralization campaigns.

Now what?

>>
>>65606845
>How come they don’t carry those shotguns they use to shoot those clay things in that weird sport
If you carry a shotgun (+ammo), you can't carry a rifle (+ ammo; too bulky), meaning you have very limited engagement range, even with something like a semi-auto turkey-choked 10 gauge with tungsten shot (which is pretty much the heaviest shotgun which can be feasibly carried by a person).
This doesn't really matter if you're doing security 5-something km behind the contact line (risk of infiltrators getting that far is minimal, but drones can reach without issues), but, even then, if you have to move out and switch positions, you must first go to a locker and swap guns (which increases logistic burden and degrades reaction time).

you know the thousands of videos of lone APCs rushing to a tree line to drop off soldiers, but it hits a mine and is abandoned, and then men run off in all directions?
That is all it is. The survivors find a hole or try to just walk back home, alone. They are picked off by drones one by one.

Been this was since 2023. Just these days they are using more civilian vehicles like dirt bikes and quads to rush the tree lines, since armor is near obsolete and they count on speed saving them (sometimes).
/pol/ will tell you they are staged execution videos of Russian POWs, all 4768 of these videos, but they also ate a lot of lead paint chips as children.

You can, and people do it all the time, but it's a pain in the ass. If you have access to ok quality duplex/drone rounds they're a better idea since you can just have a couple of mags for that shit and you can actually shoot your weapon effectively under duress because you're familiar with it

Russians use infiltration tactics. They send soldiers individually to forward positions to gradually concentrate their forces there, because any large group is spotted by drones and destroyed. Sending individual guys every couple of hours, despite their low survival rates, results in fewer overall losses.

That's also why you see so many suicide videos of wounded Russian assault troops. They know that there is no help coming.

Defensive positions are also manned by only 3 to 4 dudes on both sides. If a dug-out is destroyed you end up with a small number of survivors trying to reach other positions.

The Russians also use low-quality men like old people to carry supplies to forward positions. They are called mules. That's why you have the "genre" of drone video where grandpa Ivan loaded with canisters or duffel bags gets droned. The Russian commanders send them on their own because, just like the infiltrators, it makes them a tiny bit harder to spot.

realistically for the situations we're seeing #2 and lower steel is pretty effective but someone is going to need to overbore a 12 gauge like the mossberg 835 is and get it reliably semi-auto like a 1301, chambered for 3.5 inch shells and design a recoil dampening system specifically for it so average the average joe can sling fuck off magnum loads of number 4 buck at death drones

there is quite literally no way to confirm those numbers even if we account that they just cut the videos down to the last 5 seconds at the worst possible bitrate and resultion you roughly gonna need (for their claimed number SO FAR) at about 9 petabytes +- 300 gigabytes cause im bored to do the exact math

Those are .177'' BBs. Federal Speed-Shok packs 81 of them in a 3'' shell. I'd say 81 is better than 7, especially since undercaliber BBs out of a rifle barrel aren't more accurate than out of a shotgun.

Them being cheap and effective has nothing to do with his argument. He is saying that yes they are cheap, but Ukraine does not have existing infrastructure for their sale and distribution, nor does it have many people who ever fired a shotgun prior to 2022. By comparison, the United States has a very large population of shotgun owners (tens of millions, probably near 100 million) the vast majority of which are either pumps or semis. Your average American infantry squad probably has at least 2-3 guys who shot skeet or sporting clays or whatever for fun as a teenager. Hence if you were to just issue shotguns to every infantry squad in the US Army, it would probably go surprisingly well as a stopgap anti-drone measure, with higher efficacy than handing shotguns to random Ukrainians, even if they are veterans.

I will remind the thread that Russia banned the use of obituaries in Russia without permission by the state back in late 2024 as Ukraine was using itbas a metric to test casualties from varying their tactics
So not only is it only counting the confirmed dead, it's also well underreported by matters of state.

I can see a gunner's sight and I can see a commander's seat and a driver's seat but I don't see a gunner's seat.
Do they have to sit on the shells or something?
>>
>>65611365
The gunners seat folds on the left side

I am kinda glad „Mack“ died before all of this so he didn't have to see his 2030 predictions go up in smoke.

Nothing will surpass this as the perfect explanation of modern war for me, desu.

Until chemical weapons get deployed en masse again, and then I'd probably use a webm of that.

Precisely. Use shotguns ffs. Even stupid shit like birdshot can get the job done.

Ah, russia. Never change.
>>
>>65614958
What else would you call it? Treason is simply the betrayal of the state, knowingly or otherwise and we all know that state apparatuses especially in Russia almost never represents it's people.

Oh, but they are changing. For the worse.

2026 was more totalitarian than every year from 2000 to 2025 COMBINED.
Kremlin is struggling to keep its cattle under control.

What if every infantryman was just given one of these?

That would be a convenient way to guarantee the drone explodes at the optimum airburst distance from your face. Also extra shrapnel. Hopefully the net is metal for the best effect.
>>
>>65615032
Not true, it would be a militerized fishing net, so it would be brown, cost twice the total worth of any soldier, emit EMP jamming noise from its mesh services to prevent explosions and then be shelved for being prohibitively expensive.

Will the EMP kindly ask the mechanical detonators for their consent?

Drone operators hate this one legal trick.

The net gun, that shoots tiny nets, already exists.

The "knowingly" part is quite important when talking about criminal justice....then I remembered you're talking about Russia and realised how silly I was being.

>Destroy all of their dams and power generation facilities and never let them try to rebuild them.

then Iran instantly retaliates before the jets even leave the airspace on all gulf nations desalination, power and oil industry, rendering a region of 1+billion angry Muslims uninhabitable, (and now stateless) and ~3 days from imminent death via 'no water'...what do you think happens then..?

and why would the rest of the world sit back and tolerate such flippant, israeli-doctrine self-harming idiocy like doing 'bridge and powerplant' day in Iran..? the implications for the rest of them would be grim at best...certain incoming death at worst

I wonder how many years it'll take until we hear about the rape and extermination camps to which they shipped people from occupied ukraine.
