haiti is preparing to fight salvador
thoughts on their gear/tactics?
>>
For those wondering, some Haitian gang kidnapped Salvadorin aviation technicians in the middle of the night, I think, and now the Salvadorins are coming in to get their guys out
>>
>>65607108
They seem well prepared for the task. The Salvadorans will surely meet their equals on this pathetic battlefield.
>>
im just finding it amazing how ignorant these niggers are. theres one where they are flexing tupperwear buckets of loose ammo and the average american has that in his closet.

these guys think they are prepared. they think its a flex. then i realized they dont have any military in haiti they actually think what they have is enough.
then i realized these soon to be dead dudes are still better than most posters on 4chan.

They're on their home turf, they can just slip back into the crowds and no one will rat them out, I know you guys are all a bunch of 12 year olds so now I guess you'll call me a haitian or some shit because you have no brains or ability to think beyond retarded internet shit flinging but they don't have to have state of the art tactics to provide a credible deterrence, they just need foreign governments to know that if a group of foreign fighers comes into their territory, some of those people are not going home except maybe in a body bag if they're lucky, whatever petty disputes hatian gangs have with foreign governments are usually not going to be worth the political fallout

El Salvador? I mean this isn't exactly a superpower is it? And even a superpower usually isn't going to think it's worth one of their own expensive soldiers getting a bullet wound and getting a lifetime of disability pay. Why do you sound like you're holding some big secret?

He kind of does though, what do you think El Salvador is? Their military is for domestic squabbles not for overseas adventures, they're for driving around San Salvador in a truck and massacring a shantytown with 70 year old service weapons, they probably have like 30 people in their entire military who are cut out for this and why would he waste them on something like this when it poses no threat to his power, or his money?

Haitian opposition is exactly what they know what to handle. It's also to send a message. First, don't fuck with them (relevant for domestic population. If the gov is gonna play loose with rights, they better deliver results). Second, to win the support of other countries, that see the new way of doing things in El Salvador (enlightened despot) and see it as a model worth replicating.
>>
>>65607177

Look at what we have here. Look at these buckets, look at these trays. This is all heavy ammunition, and we have the automatic rifles to match them. We aren’t running away. I have nowhere to go, and I am not hiding from you.
If you think your soldiers are just going to walk in here and take over, come try it. We are standing our ground right here. We are waiting for you, and we are fully prepared to fight you and your troops."

In relative terms, it might be.

Thirdie detected.
You really think that's such a flex on the first world.
El Salvador isn't first world though, it's another thirdie country and sacrificing some soldiers is totally worth it for some pride saving rescue mission.
Though any first world country would do roughly the same thing anyway because you don't let gangs kidnap your soldiers and get away with it, it sets a very bad example for the next gang that thinks they've found some get-rich-quick scheme based around fucking with a neighbouring country's military.
>>

It's a brutal dictator vs a criminal society.
I would be surprised if there was a light side to it.

>>65607732
>i hope el salvador's SMO ends up actually cleaning up haiti
They're certainly one of the better placed nations to do that. Not physically, I wouldn't have thought they'd have the force projection but in terms of doctrine etc, they probably know what they're doing and have one of the few success stories and some of those skills are probably transferable to the current context.

>and letting the dominican republic take over
Do they even want to?
I'd have thought it was a Binland/Karelia situation.
>>
>>65607603
lack of international funding and political will made them pull out. Apparently the ROE was also completely ass to the point where they couldn't really do anything of actual use to begin with.
>>
>>65607731
it's actually that simple.
>start enforcing your own laws
>jail criminals
>violent crimes drop by 80%
we like to pretend it's a complex socio economic issue that cannot be solved by stuffing these niggas into prison. turns out jailing the bottom 1% solves most of your problems.
whaddya know.
>>
>>65607146
So you think they get disability?
>>
>>65607757
>bottom 1%
percentage of population in prison in el salvador is 2%. and its 90% young men. about 6-7% of men under 30 in el salvador are in prison. seems to me they just rounded up male millenials/zoomers and called it a day and some political opponents on top im sure.
>>
>>65607769
you know how this goes, some guy wants to run against bukele and suddenly he gets accused of some crime and ends up in prison for 20 years. what a coincidence that people that run against the dictator happen to always be criminals.
>>
>>65607770
Do you have any evidence of this happening? Who announced they were running and got arrested?
>>
>>65607731
he's quite authoritarian, but he gets away with it from the popularity he has from stopping the crime.
>>65607773
i don't know anything about arrests but he used soldiers to intimidate the assembly, for instance. Cristosal (a human rights group) also evacuated the country because they were arresting their members. he is not a democratic dude.
>>
>>65607146
>I mean this isn't exactly a superpower is it?
In terms of relative effectiveness, this will be like Delta Force rolling up on some inner city Crips
>>
>>65607770
What can I say anon? Just don't hang out with criminals who behead their rivals & cut out their hearts and don't tattoo their name all over your body and cops won't box you in with them.
>muh human rights violation
If you're so fucking stupid, that you tattoo MS 13 on your forehead and hang around with a quasi terrorist group, I don't really care what happens to your human rights, even if you really dindu nuffin.
>>
>>65607757
What Bukele did was undeniably effective, the issue is what comes after
Most dictators don't tend to be very benevolent. If he can black bag people without trial based on vague suspicions and accusations, what does that mean for political opposition and transfer of power?
Don't get me wrong, his actions were necessary considering how bad things have gotten, but there is also a good reason why that kind of conduct is generally not regarded well in modern societies
>>
>>65607802
He's set to win over and over again, because his opposition are a bunch of fuckwits who want to release the 'unjustly' incarcerated criminals and to undo everything he did. That doesn't really fly well for the average Jose, who probably had friends and family members killed by these same people and they sure as shit won't vote for a party who wants to flood society with a literal army of violent criminals.
Bukele is not a dictator, he's simply the only realistic choice that the people have. Having no sane political challengers =/= being a dictator.
>>
>>65607834
>Having no sane political challengers =/= being a dictator.
how would you know that? he controls the senate, the courts, the army and the police. he decides what gets reported, what gets investigated, what gets convicted and ultimately who is allowed to run against him in elections. what makes you think these "no sane political challengers" arent controlled opposition?

>>
>>65607802
The problem is that he completely eliminated the safety problem in the country. This in turn makes him extrremely popular. Now, thanks to his popularity, political parties in the country are effectively dead. Nobody in the country will cry for the odd 1 or 2 guys that are innocent in those prisons. If they had tattoos up to ass to the point of gettgin confused with gang members, then good riddance.

>>
>>65608401
Anon these gangs are so disorganized and violent to the point that any upset to their fragile hierarchy would just cause them to dissolve into violent clusters that fight eachother before another strong man is able to reign them in again. The Salvadoran army isnt worried about things like retribution or civilian consequences because these gangs are incapable of making any organized effort to hurt either, aside from shooting at the army and robbing/raping the civilians, which are things they already do.
>>
>>65608083
>what political message would a credible opposition candidate even run on?
less corruption, less nepotism, more rights, less taxes, more efficient government, less bitcoin gambling, more subsidies, more foreign investments in the economy, better schools, better hospitals, not spending money on some retarded peace keeping mission in haiti etc. etc.

crime isnt the only political issue.
>>
>>65608419
>crime isnt the only political issue.
But it is/was the most important issue. Buttcoin scams are nothing when your popular support still remembers when the murder rate was one person per hour. And the general opinion of the mission in Haiti seems positive. Its gives your soldiers valuable deployment experience too.
>>
>>65608412
I'm not following their telegram or whatever, I'm just going by my memory of past stories of gang activity in haiti, the gangs are the government, it's enough people with enough guns that the only people who think it's a fun time to go fight them are first worlders who can go back to their lives after shooting some darkies on their human safari, the locals are scared of the gangs because the gangs are chaotic and violent and that's why setting up an actual government is next to impossible

>>65608417
are you getting confused because your context window isn't big enough? it's not the salvadoran army that has to worry about getting murdered after the fight, it's the civilian neighborhood guy who decided it would be a good idea to rat out the local street gang to some random hispanic who just parachuted in and all the neighbors saw what he did, I'm not even saying it's a guaranteed death sentence but I highly doubt most people would take the risk
>>
>>65608431
>I'm not following their telegram or whatever
Well you should start. They're all going along the lines of "I'm right here bro, come get me. Look at all these shiny bullets, bet you're shitting your pants". The only reason these gangs still exist is because overly restrictive ROE allows them to.
>>
>>65607953
Literally nothing to lose
>>
>>65608431
>not the salvadoran army that has to worry about getting murdered after the fight, it's the civilian neighborhood
The Army has to consider the effects that interacting with the civilians will have on them. What im saying is that they dont care/consider it a non issue because this isnt the Taliban or the VC or the VRS. These are big ass street gangs and the terrorizing of the civilians in their territory is on par with what street gangs already do to people. The gangs are incapable of systemic retribution like what we're used to.
>>
>>65608445
Online shit talking is just online shit talking, let's see what they actually do in real life first

>>65608459
You keep treating this like it has to be some kind of organized trial like they find the guy and get a jury and convict him of treason, that isn't what we're talking about, we're talking about "oh I heard jean-pierre said jean-luc ratted out the gang yesterday and that's why my cousin died let's go fuck him up" and then jean luc dies a violent death, end of story. The less organized the gangs are the WORSE it is for any potential collaborators because you don't even know what faction is going to come after you, no you just stay the fuck away from anything and keep your head down in those environments
>>
>>65608464
>oh I heard jean-pierre said jean-luc ratted out the gang yesterday and that's why my cousin died let's go fuck him up

>>
>>65608469
it is not "considered an issue" by whom, why? because you said so?

do you just lack theory of mind or how is this hard for you to process? what would be the motivation to rat out a street gang if you're living in a neighborhood they control? or rather, what motivation would be enough to overcome the expectation of a violent death as a result?

>>
>>65608475
I guess you see this as an internet argument where if the current leader of the street gang dies you "win", I was treating this more like a "who are the key stakeholders in this and what are their likely motives and based on that what are the likely next steps", sorry for trying to talk about this like an adult I'll be on my way
>>
>>65608472
>what motivation would be enough to overcome the expectation of a violent death as a result?
spite, revenge, stupidity, ignorance, suicidal wish, autism, just dont give a fuck, or you are a member of a rival gang.
>>
>>65608484
Yes, if the leader of a street gang dies, the gang ceases to exist because it never had a real organization and chain of command. How exactly is that difficult to understand?
>>
>>65608472
>>65608484
There is no winning, there is no concept of organization, they will constantly splinter and grow and die over and over again until one super gang finally triumphs or they are pacifier. You are giving way too much credit to the governing and punishing abilities of a group violent people who have no motivations other than to survive or become the next big fish.
>>
>>65608472
>what motivation would be enough to overcome the expectation of a violent death as a result?
Th expectation that you'd die a violent death at random even if you do nothing.
>>

>>65608496
That's what I mean, you are discussing this as a video game where it's the level boss where you defeat XYZ Gang and once you're past that level that's the definition of victory. For purposes of game theory I don't consider that a very interesting or relevant angle except from the POV of the actual current leader of XYZ Gang, sure he might care but does your average civilian care? Will the other 50,000 armed gangsters in haiti care? Does anyone war gaming this actually care? Maybe if the civilians are all equally stupid in the way that is specifically convenient to your take on this then they might care but that seems pretty unlikely, there's lots of kinds of stupidity and they can motivate all kinds of outcomes so why would it be THIS specific kind of stupidity that just happens to align with your take?

So if we're talking about what would happen when the salvadorans land, again I don't think anyone genuinely cares if XYZ Gang continues to exist as such into the coming week or month, certainly not when it comes to "what will any given person do when the boots hit the ground"

But again, I'm thinking of this as an interesting planning and prediction discussion not "who will win this internet argument where my imagined interlocutor is personally invested in the safety of the current leader of XYZ Gang" which is honestly a pretty bizarre way to frame this but I think that's the traditional way that these threads go
>>
>>65608516

>>

Claude-Pierre is strongk! He shall vanquish the Salvador menace! Port Au Prince is Haitian clay!

Is that what you came for? I'm actually posting from Haiti that's why I am personally emotionally invested in this, I suppose you must be in El Salvador? My country shall defeat your country on the battlefield! Hoorah!

Its the Salvadoran army rolling around in armored cars trying to find leads as to where the hostages are. They shoot a bunch of gangsters and either the hostages are killed and dismembered, or they are found and surrendered and the Army fucks off back to their port. This isnt some logistics puzzle with 1x1km grid zones and weapons analyzing. This is essentially and big ass SWAT and COIN operation with generous ROE. Nothing would change the overall situation.
>>
>>65608534
Must be hell to have the self awareness to understand how retarded you are but still be too retarded to do anything about it.
>>
>>65607731
It's not that far-fetched when you consider the circumstances. Most Salvadorian gang members have highly visible gang tattoos, prior administrations frequently cooperated with gangs, and El Salvador is relatively small as a country, meaning it was relatively easy to calculate the number of active gang members and identify them plus they didn't really have anywhere to run and reorganize. A rapid blitz was able to break their power and structure easily.
>>
>>65608710
nta but I've seen that play out in other 3rd world shit holes and it's never how the people in power present it. What actually happens is they do a bunch of high-visibility violent "crackdowns" and suspend due process and say "that's just how it has to be, can't make an omelette etc"

but behind the scenes what's happening is they're negotiating an arrangement with the other crime lords to maintain a certain kind of order (by order I mean both "arrangement" and "lack of chaos") but the criminal networks are still there because they're relationship based just like "legitimate" businesses

most of those "crackdowns" are pre-arranged targetings of disposable elements of the criminal networks, factions that might have been causing problems or were growing too strong for the crime boss's comfort. and some of them are just straight up random murders of street criminals who were in the wrong place at the wrong time but the people in power needed some dead bodies to show the press that shit was getting done

google "grand budol" for an example of this in another country that only ended up well publicized because of the strong traditions of having an independent investigative press in the philippines, something like this is almost certainly what's going on in el salvador

I don't think you understand that the average gang conflict in Haiti isn't a couple dudes doing drive-bys; it's a hundred or so guys rolling up to a neighborhood, kicking in doors, killing anyone they suspect is affiliated with a rival gang, raping any women they come across, and burning down houses, then a hundred or so guys from the opposing gang roll up, start shooting anyone they think is affiliated with the other gang, then after things have settled down they rape any woman they come across and kill anyone they think wasn't sufficiently supportive of them. The standard stats for Haitian gang wars are usually something like:
>8th Port-au-Prince Massacre
>Combatant Strength
>Gang A - 74
>Gang B - 93
>Casualties
>Gang A - 9
>Gang B - 12
>Civilian - 110+

The thing is that if you frame it as a dog and pony show while behind the scenes it's business as usual then the gangs are going to have their guard low because they're expecting a predetermined outcome. Which means you can massively fuck them over before they realize you're not following the script. Funnily enough that's how Xi Jinping cemented his control over the Chinese government. He presented his anti-corruption drive as the usual smoke and mirrors, got people to hand over their sacrificial lambs, then simply kept arresting officials.

just a theory, but since el salvador got their own house in order, they probably want to establish themselves as a regional power now, but their military has little experience operating outside of the country. haiti gives them an opportunity to gain real combat and logistics experience in a situation they will win with few to no casualties.

el salvador gets an ez win and experience and none of their neighbors get pissed off directly.

The way I see it, authoritarianism is like a dice roll. If you get lucky and roll a leader who is both competent and gives a shit about the country, you see nations rise rapidly out of poverty. Examples include Singapore, Taiwan, and Chile. Rwanda's dictator today is trying to emulate those examples, and his country is now in a much better place than any of its neighbors. But if your leader is lacking in competence or care, it's usually a disaster, regardless of geopolitical alignment.

Democracy is more of a hedged bet. If your elected leader is incompetent, he is removed within a few years. We're about to see this happen in the USA, where the GOP is about to get slaughtered and officials whose only credential is supporting Trump are going to get hit especially hard. Plus, new political faces emerge constantly and come from everywhere, making it difficult to establish the kind of deep-rooted corruption that plagues most autocracies, where people often retain their positions for life, so long as they stay on the leader's good side.

But in /k/ terms dictatorships are near universally a disaster militarily. The threat of coup makes truly well-led, trained, and equipped militaries a rarity. Exceptions, such as Rwanda, tend to be strong only relative to their neighbors, not the rest of the world. Plus, as a dictator, it's hard to motivate your troops to fight and die for you, unless you're truly beloved or your enemies are truly that much worse (e.g. communists)

It's also worth noting that most of the most well-developed democratic nations, were also well-developed nations in the 19th century, when democracy was still mostly this weird thing the Americans and radical French were trying out.

Why did South Africa and Rhodesia have markedly higher standards of living when they were ran by white people? Uh, next question.

They have galil aces and some iwi Arads which would likeley be used in a special operation like this. The haitians would be completely out gunned having smuggled psa ar-15s as there better option and likeley not very sufficient body armour, magazine organisation or ammunition logistics.

El Salvador has helicopters and transport planes so they are able to get in, dump a bunch of small arms fire and cannon rounds into what they need to and then leave.

So why do they keep doing it? Haitian gangs are less organized than the Taliban but they are fully capable of murdering anyone they think is against them, or that is loosely assosiated with someone they think is against them. Why do you think the majority of the gangsters involved here will even be fighting the salvadorians? They'll engage a few times, take some casulties, but unless they all hole up where the hostages are they are unlikely to be extinguished.

Your chance of death rises much higher when you rat, and the Salvadorians are not offering a permanent peacekeeping force to keep you safe, or even the exision of the gang you ratted on. They are there to extract their dudes, first and foremost.
>>
>>65609659
>Your chance of death rises much higher when you rat
As you put it so eloquently, the gangs kill based on feelings. The rat is just as likely to die as anyone else living in the area the gang controls, and that's even assuming whoever rises to power next even gives enough of a fuck about the last guy who died to even try to exact some form of retribution. Again, they're not just "less organized than the Taliban". They're barely an organization at all.

Nta but that's not true. Gang members aren't savage retards, or at the very least are capable of basic fucking reason. Haiti is a massive experiment in social darwinism if nothing else. Gangs will target however was seen talking to foreigners or suspected of aiding them.

They will be able to do this, because a gang unable to keep track of their turf would have been annihilated by other gangs long before this point.

Also random terror only works to a point, and eventually becomes a waste of ammo and a loss of revenue. A gang that murders entirely randomly will face increasing backlash from their territory while being able to muster fewer resources to deal with rivals. Again, this is basic social darwinism

can actually quite easily be answered by measuring IQ. You can even see why the Dominican Republic is not up to the west's standards, but is infinitely better than Haiti in every way, by IQ again. This works across the board. Wow, who would have thought Somalia, Sudan, and the Congo, the biggest shitholes in Africa, are all dumber on average than less fucked up places in Africa.

No, he isn't. The chance of death is high regardless but it rises when you rock the boat.

I'm sure there'd be snitches, but the most compelling reason to do so is extradition to another country.
>and that's even assuming whoever rises to power next even gives enough of a fuck about the last guy who died to even try to exact some form of retribution
A number of gangs and gang leaders have taken 'nationalistic' stances before, so they probably would.
>They're barely an organization at all.
As a whole, yes, they're very anarchic, but they're very capable of collecting lists of people they don't like and killing them, which is the only thing that matters here.

Sticking out their necks will not result in a more secure Haiti, it only puts them at risk. You either need to supply them with extradition to remove them from the risk, or find someone who is suicidal and hates the gangs enough to not care.

>they would certainly be in much elevated danger
Anon, the attacks are even spreading to areas where the gangs didn't even have a presence previously, let alone anyone to snitch on them. You're assuming these gangs have the capability and motivation to go after snitches. The fact is, they simply attack at random. Targeted assassinations are not the norm. They consult fucking voodoo priests to decide who to target, only for the dudes they send to end up killing the entire town anyway.

I think its a little inaccurate to say that since the few instances of European or East Asian dictators(really just Diem) can motivate and maintain militaries. Really the quality of the people is the biggest determining factor, the US would have the best craziest white killers on tap whether it was completely libtarded or a dictatorship. The issue is buying their loyalty: a dictator might be able to do that simply by throwing money at them and treating them as mercenaries while a completely pussified society which subjects its soldiers to political compliance tests to a greater extent than a commie one and make the job unpalatable.
I think the whole "authoritarians can't make competent militaries" is more a more a matter of correlation rather than causation in the current political environment.

>where the GOP is about to get slaughtered
Trump is hated solely for being a jew-lover and his Iran adventure. On the rest of his policies anybody who would vote for a republican at all wants much more rightwing policies than he can or will provide. People are mad that trump isn't kicking out 60 million spics rather than 10 million.

>>
>>65609803
>Targeted assassinations are not the norm.
Yes, I'm aware. What I'm saying is if they catch wind of a snitch they're likely to go on a murder romp in the area that they think the snitch is in, and the snitch, presumably, does not want their family members to be raped to death in a mass attack, whether or not that attack actually ends up hitting them or not, because they likely live in the community that ended up being targeted. It's possible they just end up in a completely unrelated one, yeah, but how many people want to test fate with that? Some, sure, but not exceptionally many. Particurally since, again, the Salvadorians aren't staying. They are getting their dudes and then probably leaving.

Like I said, it's not impossible to find snitches, but in warzones a lot of people just do their best to keep their heads down as much as possible. If it was a big invasion to try and establish order than I think you'd see a big upswell of support but this isn't that.
>>
>>65609832
>What I'm saying is if they catch wind of a snitch they're likely to go on a murder romp in the area that they think the snitch is in
What I'm saying is that if they feel like going on a murder romp they simply claim there's a snitch and send the gang in to slaughter a random village whether there's a snitch or not. This is part and parcel of Haitian life. There are at least as many or more Haitians who are affiliated with anti-gang vigilante groups as there are gang members. It's really not as difficult as you think to find a snitch.

I don't think they feel the need to claim there's a snitch if they want to destroy something.
>There are at least as many or more Haitians who are affiliated with anti-gang vigilante groups as there are gang members.
Well, there's the issue. I wasn't considering those people snitches since they're active anti-gang combatants.
>>
>>65609873
>I don't think they feel the need to claim there's a snitch if they want to destroy something.
There isn't. I'm just going along with your train of thought.
>I wasn't considering those people snitches since they're active anti-gang combatants.
If you're going with strict definitions, snitches would have to be gang insiders. And yes, there are plenty of traitors within the gang who wouldn't blink at a chance to move up.
>>
>All this harangue over civilian risk
Aren't these armed gangs technically civilians themselves? It's why the last few attempts at targeting them amounted to nothing, because the RoE protects them.
>>
>>65608401
>Why would the leader be there at all?
Because the hostages are HIS trophies and property. Wherever he goes, they go. Most of these gangs only survive because the leader is charismatic and/or violent enough to keep it together. If the gang's leader gets whacked and he doesn't have an immediate replacement step up and reign in the retards than that gang will explode and splinter or get consumed by rival gangs.
>>65608459
>The Army has to consider the effects that interacting with the civilians will have on them.
They don't. They aren't an occupying army. They're there to get 4 of their civillians out of harms reach.
>The gangs are incapable of systemic retribution like what we're used to.
They are. They constantly rape and murder who they please because "Jackass that I don't like" looked at them the wrong way or signed up with a rival gang. There's tons of reports that say whenever a gang moves into new territory they rape and murder the locals as a show of strength and to enforce their dominion over them
>>65608484
>I was treating this more like a "who are the key stakeholders in this and what are their likely motives and based on that what are the likely next steps"
Do you mean with regards to the kidnappings? It was literally because a warlord/gangleader or whatever you want to call him decided that he needed to flex his muscles and kidnap civillians from a country that has a "Strong and powerful" leader like El Salvador. The entire thing is about street cred and nothing else. There's no larger conspiracy beyond this.

A single North Korean mechanized division with UN oversight and US backing would be enough to fix Haiti.

They would establish safe zones, restore order and protect anyone working in hospitals, food distribution centers and they would establish law and order. They would also kill anyone who opposed them. Haiti and it's gangs do not have the means to fight 24-36 Type 323s and their 14.5mms not to mention a few Kokans, a few 240mm MLRS and 8000+ Nork soldiers.

The DPRK would restore order, the rule of law and basic humanitarian services to Haiti. They would also probably kill around 25-35k people in the first few months of their administration. Body disposal and basic sanitation would be a major issue for them.

I don't have a problem with that death count and i suspect the people of Haiti would not have a problem with it either as long as order was restored.

In my hypothetical scenario (which will probably be reality by 2030) the DPRK will be a normal member of the international community and their nuclear status will be accepted by all members of the UN security council.

In that case the DPRK owes the UN and will wish to be a respected member of the global community, the obvious way that the DPRK can assist the world is as peace keeping troops.

The KPA are ideal 'Peace Keepers'
>Disciplined and ruthless
>Follow the rules
>Don't take any shit
>Immune to bribery because who the fuck do you think you are talking to?
>Don't commit war crimes because they have no reason to do so yet
>Rape isn't a issue, unapproved sexual contact between a person who is not a DPRK citizen is a potential death penalty

The DPRK are almost ideal peace keeping troops: they don't care about anyone's politics, they are assholes but once in a while are decent people. They are ruthless but don't do shit like needlessly torture people for fun, they aren't Russians.

Holy shit I served with him. Do you have sauce for that story? Pic related. we did a joint operation with the El Salvadorian Marines during my first tour in 2004. That mission was my first combat, a complex ambush in the lush farmland South of Baghdad. The enlisted goblins are fearless, boarding on foolhardy. They look short and chubby, but they're extremely agile and surprisingly fast. Their lieutenant was trained by the CIA/USMC in Quantico along with a bunch of his peers. Their kit at the time was Desert Storm tier, but with sapi plates and newer crew served weapons and a mix of Blackhawk gear from the px.

These lads love getting in the shit, and are going to rape Haiti.

The only way you can fix Haiti is by assuming you're going to have to level the place to remove the gangs and be willing to put boots on the ground to be killed by shovel AKs. Most nations are unwilling to do that. It would take a global (or relevant global) agreement that you're going to level Port-Au-Prince and put enough boots on the ground, enough assets and spec-ops and counter-insurgency units that they'd fix it. The issue is then, even if you make it stable, you're in a quasi-occupation to make sure it stays stable as you rebuild and then you have to stay after the rebuild to make sure it doesn't collapse again. In short, no nation wants to do it. So nobody does.

The only thing you can do, really, is find an agreement to 'mow the grass' and do it for so long you hope somebody in house can find a way to stabilise the situation inside (until he's assassinated or becomes corrupt).

The entire thing was full of corruption anyway. Aid workers running prostitution rings and sex trafficking businesses. Money being 'lost'. Overspend etc. Corruption is rife everywhere but Haiti just had way more willing participants.

Sadly because of 'human rights' and other things you can't just track every gang member and put a tomahawk through their shack's roof and move on. You'd need to remove all the gang leaders, scare the rest of the gangs and put enough boots and counter units on the ground to prevent any more, run intelligence gathering shit to make sure nobody who tries to take over survives. But that won't happen. Haiti is just fucked. If it was a vital trade nation, people would care. Or it had some really valuable resource only they had.
>>
>>65610528
This. It’s fucked and it won’t ever get better than it is now in any reasonable amount of time. No solution can feasibly be applied from within to fix the problems. If there was massive political will outside you could imagine several scenarios, from the fastest to the slowest
>Genocide all the haitians, thereby removing the problem at the source (obviously unthinkable). Time : 'bout a day depending in who launches the nukes
>Deport literally every citizen all over the world at a family level, keeping the ex-haitian density at the absolute minimum so all the deported will basically never see another of their old countrymen in their life ever again, effectively killing the haitian national identity and letting whatever’s left of the land heal. Time : about 2-3 years I guess
>Occupy a part of the country and slowly, rigorously filter everyone allowed inside while keeping everyone else out, you would also need some draconian dictatorship model inside to prevent crimes from resurfacing, cracking down on the actual criminals you no doubt actually let in, and actually educate the population. Time : 20 years minimum

Realistically what’s going to happen is the statu quo wiggling a bit but not changing much in either direction for the next century. It’s always going to be a shithole, although if the gangs eat themselves alive they might have decades where they can climb uphill a bit, though it'll never not be shit.

Haitians live on the side of the island that doesn't received West African nutrient deposits during Harmattan, unlike the DR, Brazil, etc.
Additionally, Spain spent the period between 1825 and 1960 sacking the government's finances under threat of annexation and genocide of the population. As a consequence, it couldn't enforce necessary land reforms (esp. after losing the DR, which the French exempted from punishment), and people desperate for food migrated to marginal plots to survive.
In the 60s onward, electrification stalled and trees were used for charcoal.
Really, America and France have been taking turns trying to control the country since 1825. (The recent "gang" problem came from America assassinating Haiti's leadership when it broke from them diplomatically. (Picrel))
In combination with their only immediate neighbor, the Dominican Republic, being full of people who want them dead, there's a strong feeling of nihilism that dominates politics in Haiti. They'll never be powerful enough to prevent American or French hijacking, but they won't be annexed either. All of the people they helped in the 19th century either have abandoned them or are too afraid of the U.S to change the status quo, so it's just impossible to proceed.

The gang they're fighting typically recruits from El Salvador, but it's predominantly active in other parts of Central/North America. For what it's worth, I have my suspicions about the whole thing, mostly because this dictatorship gets a lot of positive PR in the Anglophone internet, which is just unusual for Latin America in general. Still, there's no saying just yet.
ES has a population of ~6M. CECOT, their pride and joy, is a prison designed for 40,000, and it actually holds 15-20,000. Haiti is a country of 11M people for whom civil war is just a painful inevitability. Unlike the MS-13, the leadership isn't so stable that order could be preserved if they lost to an outside power, and establishing control isn't a matter of plucking malicious actors out from the populace.
Even with U.S backing, Haiti is "Land war in Asia" tier.

The U.S government is still fond of coups. How shocking.
>Haiti has had a country-crippling gang problem well before the 2010s. Hell, they were major problems back in the fucking 90s
That wasn't a long time ago.

You can when one is done as an immediate response to the other.
If you start gassing civilians and lose, your civilians are getting gassed. Those are the stakes of war. Don't complain.

I literally don't care what the French did, same as you don't care what the Satanic nigger cannibals did.

Not the same at all and you know that.

It is though. No matter what they did, you accept and support and excuse it.

I think the same. The only thing France did wrong was lose.

Hatians mindbreak the current international law system by being civilians that are capable of paramilitary actions. It's as simple as saying "nuh-uh, our armed, organized fighting groups aren't soldiers." And the UN buys it.

That "no matter what they did" would mean more to me if I knew you didn't just mean cleaning up a remnant of the people who'd just attempted to kill them off.
Anyway, Dessalines was proven right about them. One of theirs managed to blend in, get popular, then sign the whole country over to France. The public tried to kill him after, but he escaped to his true home.
But please do shed some more fake tears over the smallest casualty of the war. Gross creature.

IIRC Switzerland and New England are the only parts of the world where actual direct democracy is practiced in any regard, albeit in the latter's case it's used as the form of local government in smaller towns.

the blackwater guy is there right?
I don't get how it works, wouldn't a mercenary be incentivized to keep the conflict going?
