With modern bullets a .270 can kill any animal on the continent with much less recoil. If you want a one and done hunt everything rifle that is the patrician's choice, flat shooting for mountain sheep and with good bullets powerful enough to drop moose or elk. The only advantage of a magnum rifle is at long range (200 yards+). You said you wanted an "ethical hunting gun" then you should not be taking long range shots because they aren't ethical. Moose are big dumdums if you can't get within 80 yards of one you might be retarded.

Took my buddy’s alcor out today and put 120rds through it. I forgot my gloves and my buddy forgot the vice so I was shivering to all fuck and we couldn’t get a zero on the irons. The ironsights are just dogshit either way, but we put a 3x on it and it was pretty good for waiting until my shivers lined up on the target and then pull the trigger. Still not a fan of the mag release or bolt location, but I think they did that on purpose to keep it from getting banned. Obviously 120rds is a small sample size, but having shot both now I think it’d be a better SHTF than an SK. Will it hold up to the same level of abuse as an SK? No. But you might at least get on the board and set a high score unlike the Montreal shooter earlier this year who died fumbling around with those shitty stripper clips.
