Would it be possible to make a vehicle practically invulnerable to most modern weapons? Say, if you were to get the most powerful engines available, create an armor hull with a mine resistant bottom, absurd thickness armor (like 4-5 times the thickness of most tanks) armored from every side sufficient to stop multiple hits from other tanks and atgms and make it invulnerable to FPVs, put multiple redundant aps systems on it along with overwatch drones, netting, and jammers? Assume the project budget is unlimited and the armament is a secondary priority. What would it take to make a vehicle invulnerable? Pic unrelated

the M1 abrams frontal armor is what it takes to resist an ATGM and its about a meter thick at the turret face
if you make the entire tank this armored, you have to imagine it gets a meter wider in every direction, and at least 2 meters wider because you add that thickness to both sides

there would also be no way to turn the turret because it suddenly quadruples in weight
you wouldnt even have a turret, if anything, because the turret ring is a weakpoint that could be hit

Reminds me of this thing.

I would omit the turret entirely, or use a lightweight standalone weapon system that is just mounted directly on thick top armor. Maybe just an MG and a couple of atgms. Just a thick ass armored box sloped from all sides, maybe with a v hull and heavy side plates to protect the tracks. Maybe even mine rollers. And mutple engines to cope with the massive weight. Just built for maximum resistance to any obstacles with every layer of protection involved

A Sotoan air fryer would be a good starting point.

And how do you solve the atgms getting hit and taking you with it
>>
>>65610215
Define "most".

Proofed against all small arms, any basic unguided RPG, FPV drones.

Able to take repeated hits from modern tank guns and advanced atgms without serious damage, including to the sides and rear. Able to roll over at least one or two AT mines and keep rolling. Able to withstand a direct top hit from artillery.

The goal is to make a vehicle that might not be the most well armed, but essentially can't be stopped by drones and can be put at the front of a column to bulldoze through enemy fortifications and restore maneuver to the battlefield just by being so well protected as to make it immune to drones.
>>
Instead of thicker chassis and turret plates, consider active hard kill systems
>>

That approach wouldn't work because the drones would just target all the vehicles behind it. You need something that can actively shoot them down.

For some weird reason I think that this guy is gay and loves to eat his own shit.

No.

>What would it take to make a vehicle invulnerable?

Bending the laws of physics. Or giving your ape buddies some bananas for suppressing fire.

I would envision both. Multiple redundant APS systems and also multiple dedicated interceptor drones slaved to the central vehicle, combined with absurdly thick armor. Minimal primary armament to compromise the hull integrity, maybe just an MG. Basically a dedicated vehicle for tanking all of the punishment during armored breakthrough, similar to the original turtle tank concept but designed from the ground up and overbuilt to an absurd degree.

What blew up?
>>
A vehicle that is invulnerable to all modern weapons is called a mountain and they don't move very fast. Impractical as a vehicle as a result.

>Would it be possible to make a vehicle practically invulnerable to most modern weapons?
Yes, as a matter of fact it is. Ships are vehicles.

Any opening is a weakness. You could make it a meters thick perfectly angled box of steel but the engines (and crew) still need to breathe, the track wheels still need to roll and so on. Tracks can be hit, wheel shaft connections can be severed, exhaust/intale can be blocked or otherwise fucked with...
You'd more or less need a hovering sphere that crushes things via psychic gravity manipulation or some shit, and even that would be susceptible to being hammered down.

Anything tough enough to resist AT mines & ATGMs is expensive enough to justify a 2,000lb bomb.
Anything that could resist a 2,000lb bomb isn't going to be mobile.
