During screening, it's not a problem for most candidates. There's no standard credit checks unless you bring that up and mention heavy debt during screening because it can still prove to be a headache with persistent debt collection knocking on doors (despite my earlier facetious response) and significant debt just indicates instability and poor decision-making. But if you don't say anything about debt, it doesn't exist as far as they're concerned and most overseas debt-collection firms would be none-the-wiser.
