My LCP sucks and I'm sick of using it. Great to carry, terrible to shoot. I need to find a replacement, but I also want it to be 380. My dumbass, bought way too much defensive 380. More specifically, I made it. Back when components were cheap, because primers were nonexistent, I got enough to make 1000 rounds. I then made 1000 rounds and still have over 800. Thought about getting a Bersa Thunder or something similar, but then I came across conversion kits for Glock 19s. Seems perfect as I have a PSA Dagger Compact frame I never use since I got a Full-Size frame. >you have a 9mm Glock 19 Gen 3 clone. Why not just start carrying 9mm?Because I have a bunch of 380. Getting as much defensive 9mm I would need to replace it would cost more than a gun. Even if I made it, due to current component costs, I'm still above the cost of a new gun or this conversion kit. Thought about making this thread just about guns in 380s, but ever since I saw the conversion kit it's been looking really enticing to me. Am I retarded for thinking that?

It’s probably more cost effective to just carry the LCP, unless it sucks bad enough that you’re developing a flinch. Or you could try trading the LCP and ammo for 9m.If the couple hundred dollars to get the conversion kit isn’t going to bite you in the ass if the kit doesn’t work very well, only then would I cautiously recommend going for it. But it’s very likely going to shoot and feed worse than what you have.
>>65612736Some good deals on them right now, but only if you're willing to get a funny color. I should probably go to a rental range to try one out. Still, I worry about any sub-compact being uncomfortable. That's the whole reason I'm considering G19 sized.
>>65612743>I should probably go to a rental range to try one out.anon its a handgun, it was designed to fit in a hand. this idea you have to rent guns to see if you like them is a scam by Big Range
>>65612741>It’s probably more cost effective to just carry the LCP, unless it sucks bad enough It's just awful to me. It's uncomfortable and kinda hurts when it shifts in my hands during firing. I really can't get good follow-ups. I have so much ammo because my old carry gun, Charter Undercover with FS Grips, I shot everytime I went to the range. I'd've expected all those 1000 rounds to be gone over 2 years later. >you could try trading the LCP and ammo for 9m.I planned on selling the LCP, but no one is going to buy my handloads, at least I wouldn't buy someone else's handloads except a very reduced rate. It's a great load that I got working awesome in my LCP to ensure expansion, but now it feels like I wasted a bunch of time developing them. >But it’s very likely going to shoot and feed worse than what you haveAnd that's my fear, it's Bear Creek. Not known for their quality or reliability. I do have a BCA AR9 upper that has given me exactly 0 issues over 1k rounds later, but AR uppers and Glock uppers are apples and oranges, and it could be I just got a diamond in the rough.
>>65612757>anon its a handgun, it was designed to fit in a hand. What, just like the LCP? I'm not getting burned again. Ending up with something I don't like in the slightest.
>>65612717You could do worse but because glock is lazy it's a straight blowback.vs bodyguard 2 and the other super kel-tec clone short recoil guns. Not sure if anyone's making one in glock 19 size but it can be done.Colt used to make short recoil .380 1911 govt that was just a little smaller than the original recipe.
>>65612786>You could do worse but because glock is lazy it's a straight blowback.I don't know if this conversion slide is the exact same as a Glock 25. It may actually be short recoil operated like a G19. Not a lot of info on it, and that's kind of annoying.>Colt used to make short recoil .380 1911 govt that was just a little smaller than the original recipe.Browning makes one right now, but it's over $500. Looks great, and I love 1911s, but I'm not spending that much. If only I had gone for a officer sized 1911 back in the day.
>>65612759It sounds to me like you want a heavier pistol with a locked breech. The bear creek kit isn’t both of these.Go handle the guns in .380 that are both. Personally I’d try a 238 and other 1911 derivatives. But the bodyguard is probably more what you want. The question then becomes, is it worth it to buy a new and very niche gun and stay invested in supplying yourself with .380, or is it less hassle to just buy one of the many other guns that does this perfectly fine in a more available caliber?
>>65612800>It may actually be short recoil operated like a G19.It’s not. And you can get an RIA .380 1911 for pretty cheap if you live near a lipseys or sports inc dealer. Sub 500 definitely.
>>65612736seconded, defensive 380acp is a noticeable downgrade from 9mm, not worth it if you are not taking advantage of the extra concealablility of 380 pistolsjust be aware, if your hand loads are spicy the bodyguard 2.0 might not be rated for them
>>65612800The browning is short recoil but it's kind of weird. Has an aluminum reinforced polymer frame they call "composite".Not the worst thing I guess but really strange for a 1911.I think the little sigs and kimbers are the only short recoil .380 1911s left and they're afaik alloy framed>>65612833Baby rock is sadly blowback too
>>65612833>RIA .380 1911 for pretty cheapHow the fuck did I forget those existed?Nevermind, just a did a Google search and they're discontinued. Don't feel like tracking down a used one. >>65612822Honestly, I don't need both. If it's heavier, I can deal with blowback operation, if it's still light, I want a different operating mechanism. >or is it less hassle to just buy one of the many other guns that does this perfectly fine in a more available caliber? If I do that I'm going back to a 5-shot wheelgun. I could even get one in 380 if I got a charter coyote, which is pretty much the same thing as my old undercover. If I needed to switch calibers I'd go back to 38spl and my own wadcutter loads, of which I also have a lot of. >>65612874>if your hand loads are spicy the bodyguard 2.0 might not be rated for themThey're 100gr projectiles and in the LCP they traveling at an average of 881fps. Nothing too crazy and I didn't want them too fast, just comparable to factory loads and fast enough to expand the cheap Berry's hp I put in them.
>>65612800>Not a lot of info on it,Anon, look at the OP picture. See in the front of the ejection port where the barrel would have a square shoulder on top to lock into the slide if it were short-recoil? See how the barrel hood has a big ol' bevel instead? That's all the info you need.
>>65612786There's also the security 380 and the M&P 380 EZ in that size class. The ruger comes the closest. There's also the new Walther they're replacing the PK380 with but friends don't let friends buy a cologne walther
The Glock 25 and 28 are actually fun to shoot. I wouldn't carry one though. Go with a 42 if you have to carry a glock-brand glock and it has to be in .380.
>>65612736S&W work out the issues on those? Guy at my FLGS has been replacing parts trying to get his to run reliably.
>>65613278doesn't like flat nosed projectiles and I had to trim the trigger safety on mine so it wouldn't catch if I gripped it too highother than that no problems
>>65612761You try the LCP gen II? Or the Max? They're much much better than the gen I LCP.
>>65612717I had a similar issue, and I stepped down to .380 and it's been smooth sailing since. Micro 9s are a meme.Buy a decent gun. Don't cheap out on this if you are going to use it as a carry gun. Your life is worth more than saving a couple hundred dollars. >>65612736FPBP>>65612800>>65612876I have a Browning 1911-380. I like mine a whole lot.I think it scratches the mini 1911 itch far better than the CSX, Sig P238/938, Kimber Micro, whatever. All the fun of a 1911, but in 7/8ths scale. They also have a .22lr version of it.Pros:>carries, points, shoots, handles, and recoils just like a full size 1911.>Is as reliable as any other 1911>Is fun to shoot :D>very light weight>rear sights are adjustable if you care about that.>same disassembly and reassembly procedure as a "normal" 1911>comes in government (4.25") and officer (3.5") sizes>easy to conceal. Slightly too big for pocket carry, but fits in a waistband just fine>made in the USA>overall an excellent concealed carry choice for a 1911 fag who doesn't want to lug around a full size 1911.Cons>new ones start at about $650 for the base model, they can get up $1,000+ for the fancy ones>You are 100% going to pay the boomer tax for one of these. You may luck out on a used one either in real life or Boomerbroker, but bidding is fierce for those on there.>Yes, the frame and trigger is plastic. It doesn't feel flimsy. Rest of the gun is made of metal. It's like any other polymer framed gun.>Holsters are hard to find. Browning makes one for about $60.>Magazines are somewhat expensive. They go for $35-$40 a piece.>Spare parts are hard to find. You can't just use regular 1911 parts; they are proprietary. Browning doesn't like to sell spare parts for these. Numich has some parts in stock for them.>Very little aftermarket.>Has a magazine safety>8+1 of .380 isn't much
>>65612736gun actually does kinda fuck nglI haven't shot it a TON, but it's my EDC. I shoot it well enough when I have shot it that I'm relatively confident in my ability with it. I know with more practice I'll be pretty fucking good. I also got the Comp Carry one with the little babby comp in the barrel and it really does help cut that snap out. They did a REALLY nice job with the grip on them, they feel great and everyone I hand one too at my LGS (I'm a coordinator and salesman). I think my only legit complaint is the trigger RESET kinda sucks, the trigger itself has a decent wall once you break it in a bit, it's a tight little bastard.it's the first small handgun I actually have purposeful accuracy with, so many of these tiny fuckass guns are more "oh thank god I hit paper" sometimes, My BG 2.0 is ergonomic enough and accurate enough to put rounds with purpose on target and not just hope I'm getting center-ish mass. The only tiny guns I've shot as accurately have been a little .25 Beretta Bob(Tom?)cat with the flip up barrel. It's not hitting nearly as hard with its 1" barrel and .25 ACP but damn if its not still pretty accurate and easy to shoot.or like the S&W Bodyguard J-Frame in .38, I can hit targets but holy FUCK does that suck to shoot

>>65614006Is it around the size of a colt govt. .380? Because that's very tempting if true. Though it commanding a premium while having a poly frame is kind of gay.Nothing against polymer frames, love is love, but even alloy framed 1911s feel somewhat sacrilegious.Honestly I don't think it'd bother me as much if it wasn't Browning selling it to me, even if it's a soulless husk being worn as a skinsuit by FN and has been for some time now.
>>65614006Does it interchange mags with any of the other .380 1911s out there?
>>65614296I don't know how big it is compared to a colt govt. .380The closet thing to that I was able to find to that on handgun hero a was RIA Baby Rock .380The Browning is thin, but the barrel is long.Pic rel is for the full size 4.25" barrel one.The compact one is same height and thickness, just a shorter barrel, so that might be something you would be interested in.>Though it commanding a premium while having a poly frame is kind of gay.You are going to upset the HK fanboys with that.>Nothing against polymer frames, love is love, but even alloy framed 1911s feel somewhat sacrilegious. The good thing about that is the plastic makes it very lightweight, so it doesn't feel like a chore to carry all day.>>65614756Idk. They might. I wouldn't expect them to. They look like miniature Mec-Gar mags for regular 1911s.Promag makes magazines for these that are half the price of the Browning magazines, but>PromagI don't have any of those for obvious reasons.
The humble Glock 42
>>65612736I picked one up at my LGS with a Veridian green dot on it and love it. Like other anons have said, once you get some range time with it it's a tack driver. I'm not just able to hit paper, I'm able to hit the bullseye reliably. I carry mine with a Clipdraw so it's good to go in basketball shorts with a tied waistband or pants with a belt. I've tried micro 9s before and they sucked to shoot and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with them, I've carried my old PPK/S which is a beaut but too heavy for pocket carry, and I've carried an LCP II in .22lr which is smaller but a .22. The Bodyguard is a fantastic pistol.>>65614006>Browning 1911-380A different LGS had one last time I was there that I was eyeballing. I don't really have a need for another .380 with the Bodyguard but I keep thinking about that little 1911-380. I don't remember what they were asking for it but I don't think it was more than $500.
>>65616408For some reason I didn't even think about carry. CCing a browning product feels perplexing but I can't fault it on any genuine grounds. All steel though, I can imagine it'd feel handsome in the hand and be a real stunner. But I'm crazy about those little spanish .380 1911 things and I've been chasing something like them but not made out of cheese.I'm just not comfortable with the Spanish QC lotto now that they're getting up there in price and parts have largely evaporated. So really the govt .380 and the Browning are the only options with the Browning having much better proportions. It being based on their .22 1911 skeezes me out a bit because that kind of job doesn't always work out well.See walther with the P22 into PK380.But I guess I've never heard anything bad about it in particular. I really have hardly heard about it at all.
>>65612717Why do retards want a .380 glock? I don't understand it.
