I think rifle caliber pistols are cool, be it the Remington XP-100, TC Contender/Encore, or Savage Striker. I always remember them being fairly common growing up, and pistol scopes being easy to find. Now I feel like they are hardly ever talked about. Was it the death of metallic silhouette shooting, the reduced interest in hunting and bench-rest shooting, or was it the increased prevalence of SBR's rendering them effectively obsolete? I know they are not totally dead with Burris still making a few pistol scopes and SSK/50 and CVA scout in current production, but I wish they were more popular again.
>>65621416I'd speculate that the issue is that most people who want to hunt with a handgun or knock steel targets flat on their ass can get a .44 Mag or other handgun-caliber handgun and be happy with it; stepping up to something like an Encore or XP100 has always been a niche within a niche and the gun industry is terrible at supporting those.
>>65621416>the increased prevalence of SBR's rendering them effectively obsolete?Rifle-caliber handguns and rifle-caliber "handguns" were never competing for the same market, so no.
>>65621416Since SBR laws are gone in most states I can see T/C pistols with rifle stocks having a resurgence in popularity.
>>65621416They're not tacticool. New entrants into shooting have mostly come by way of video games, movies and Youtubers.
>>65622752>movies and YoutubersWhich guntuber likes John Woo movies enough to make a half-hour infomercial for the T/C Encore?

>>65622954It was such a strange pull for Fate Zero to have the contender. I wonder who decided that.
>>65623012Same person who decided on the WA-2000 and Calico. That being said, the contender is not a poor choice if you're looking for a small gun that fires big non-spammable custom magic bullets.
