>>43680175lol it's finei'm well aware that it's not for everyone i think chapter two had a lot of potential to have better writing and pacing because he had a team of people working with him and reviewing his work as opposed to chapter one which he worked on largely by himself as an 17/18 year oldnow that dreamsteed has dissolved i don't know what the future of doll eye as a series will look likethe consensus in the doll eye fandom has largely been that doll eye should have been a comic, not a game, which i do agree with, though i understand his decision to not make doll eye a comic after the controversy surrounding his previous worki have a lot of hope that his comic will be better written. he's older now and i believe a more lighthearted romantic comedy with some angst plays to his strengths far more than the very ambitious (and admittedly ill-defined) plot of doll eye
maybe clyde should be the real protagonist of chapter two
there's also something to be said about the gradual disappearance of horror elements in both doll eye and j's work as a whole not that it's a bad thing but mystery's characterization has shifted wildly from their first rework back in 2018 and it's very noticeable my game theory is that j has become almost afraid to make mystery as overtly villainous and scary as they once were because he now over-identifies with them
