I think the reason they’re clocky is because they’re the type of name overrepresented in YA fantasy. They’re still real names, just exactly the type name someone would pick for themselves.If it’s the type of name a 15 year old would pick for their vampire novel character, it’s clocky. Damian the vampire: “yep checks out”. Steve the vampire: “Wait what?”. Steve is the way to go. I get why people choose names that “sound cool” for themselves but most parents don’t pick like that.
