On April 9, Tennessee* officially designated June as "Nuclear Family Month" after Gov. Bill Lee signed a House joint resolution, initially proposed by Rep. Bud Hulsey, R-Kingsport.

Hulsey’s resolution does not reference the LGBTQ+ community; however, its wording effectively excludes same-sex married couples while emphasizing conservative Christian values as the basis for designating June as Nuclear Family Month.

“The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world,” the resolution states. “The nuclear family is God’s perfect design for humanity and is aligned with the long-held traditional values of Tennessee.”

*so did Indiana

This is so funny LMAO why are conservacucks like this?
>>
>>43784008
That's great. Best system ever invented for growing happy healthy humans.

>>43784008
Just as Tolstoy writes: "happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
>>
>>43784008
Who cares? How is this any different than pride month? A group just wants to wave their metaphorical flags and get some attention. La dee da.
>>
>>43784008
That's awesome. Encouraging healthy family oriented mindset is good and this should be the default. This will create a much stronger society and the oppression of queers is only because of the low white birth rate so it is win win. There doesn't need to be a queer lifestyle month. Being an lgbt is like a developmental disorder that should be tolerated not celebrated and definitely not the default.
>>
The nuclear family is 20th century modern nonsense. Cucks can't even be conservative right
>>
>>43784345
The direct allusions to god feels like it violates the establishment clause
>>
burger breeders setting themselves up for failure with the most atomized family structure known to man

obviously their brothers and sisters would all live nearby in their own nuclear family units, forming a big local network, they just don't have to all live in the same house because they're American and they've got the space
>>
>>43784489
Alright, fair enough on that front. But I assume you’d still be against it even if it didn’t directly reference God?

“The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world,”
this graciously glosses over mormon's polygamy views pre 1970

The purpose is to be exclusionary and hostile and suggest gays should repress and enter heterosexual relationships.

we really need to start bullying fundies again, like back when they were trying to teach creationism in public schools. they are getting far too bold.

It’s been our world for 6000 years, sorry not sorry.
>>

Not that anon but even if you got rid of the religious nonsense and ignored the fact that its just a blatant attempt to vilify lgbt people, the idea that the nuclear family model is some wholesome chungus institution that has existed since time immemorial is ahistorical schlock, its a post-industrial structure that really only became the norm following WWII and has played a significant role in the hyper-atomization of modern society.
Why the fuck are the "muh tardishun" people allergic to actually reading a history book?
>>
>>43785621
NTA but this argument sucks. Would you know that someone is in pain if they didn’t tell you? No. But obviously pain is real.
>>
>A nuclear family is a family group consisting of two parents and their children.

Two parents, regardless of their gender. So glad Tennessee agrees with LGBTQ equality.

>“The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world"

Jesus, the education system in the US. The nuclear family is a recent invention.

I'm glad Tennessee at least supports t4t.
