what is the best job for a repmaxxer who wants to make a lot of money and hates talking to people and existing as a person? i can only do jobs that require an associate's degree as i can only afford community college. i want to work in an office. i dont really want to talk to people. i want to make a lot of money. i dont want to think about women, their clothes, my body, or my existence. i will take hrt
>>43838232software engineering? I don't have any kind of degree and I've been a professional programmer for like, a decade. you don't have to talk to people much, you can work from an office or from home and interact with even less people. if you get good then you'll get 6 figures no problem. if you want to avoid women I guess it's a good field to be in because (sadly and unfortunately) there aren't many women in software engineering.
>>43838750what about AI taking all the jobs in it? also i want to be able to just work for 8/9 hours, go home, do what i want when im home. i feel like dev work, IT work, and any CS adjacent field will requiring studying outside of work to stay relevant
>>43838750I have the same job and I have to talk to people constantly. Less now because of AI.I feel like all office jobs require lots of socialization.
Best I've got is production/distributionIf there are any factories responsible for shipping refined materials, some metal or glass being turned into a product, or a place responsible for shipping food/product to box stores. It's basically the only job I've ever seen that doesn't require constant human engagement. Offices are literally just people jobs, while your focus at work is in your cubicle, people are shit at avoiding the impulse to gossip. You're either working between yourself and peers with a manager, endlessly navigating little conversations and small talk sessions that people indulge in to escape the soulless grind they get paid for, or you're managing to pawn all of your work off on other people and dancing around the social consequences of your laziness. In an office, 80% of your coworkers will be personality hires who INSTANTLY assume you hate them when you're not talkative and corny. Most of the work in places like this is busywork, and everyone working there knows it on a spiritual level, so they will manufacture excitement however they can.The most nose down, eyes on the job, non-customer-facing low-social work I've ever had is work with my hands. You get acquainted with coworkers while you're training, and if it's not something like drywall or residential construction, you're probably just going to put your head down and get the work done with headphones in after the first week, maybe after a few months if they're actually going to train you well. Mail services, online shops or otherwise, distribution for one of the big food companies, or internal stocking jobs for one of the mixed box stores that sell more than food. Those have all been the only jobs I've had that don't ask you to dance and sing for every idiot that thinks "If it doesn't scan it must be free" is still a reasonable ice breaker.
>>43838864I don't think AI is really taking that many jobs, at least I feel like software engineers are going to still be needed in tech for many many more years.I guess you're right about the studying thing though, when you're just starting off you'd probably have to study and learn a bunch if you're not familiar with even the basics. I don't study at all outside of work hours unless I'm doing some programming for fun, and I really only stay up to date on stuff by reading hackernews and random blog posts, or watching youtube. I will say that some jobs will also pay for you to take training courses during work hours.>>43838934do you work in an office? and what specifically is your job? in my experience, rank and file engineers don't really have to talk to people that much. for example I usually only have 2-3 meetings per day and maybe an tech interview if I get pulled to interview a candidate. but it really does depend on the company, or even just the current project as well
>>43839031>i can only do jobs that require an associate's degree>rank and file engineersDo these things really go together? Is there really a reasonable chance that OP gets a job in the sectors desperate to use AI as an excuse to "trim the fat" and "recalibrate cost architecture"?
>>43839031Developer in finance. You don't feel like 2-3 meetings a day are a lot? I guess it depends on if you talk during the meetings. To me 2 meetings in a day is a lot.But yes, it does depend like you say.I do have a friend who has a very "solo developer" type of job, and that guy gets away with very little social interaction at work.
>>43839100well, I don't have a degree. if you have so much as an associate's in compsci you'd probably do pretty well. but on the other hand...yeah you're right I guess. now is not a good time to get into the tech industry as a newbie. sorry!!>>438391032-3 meetings usually isn't too much! sometimes I see the various engineering directors' calendars and they just have WALL to WALL meetings, 1:1s, executive reporting meetings, interviews, multiple team standups, etc... so I never really complain about having multiple meetings in a day. I do have to participate in meetings but team discussion doesn't bother me. it usually is only 2-3 hours of time per day total
>>43839163Well think of it from OP's persoective. You don't think she'd hate having 2 meetings a day?But also you're (OP) gonna have to accept a certain amount of human interaction if you want an office job.
>>43839163Also, when I said 2 meetings are a lot I meant that 2 meetings lead to a lot of verbal interaction. ESL and tired, good night
>>43839183oh, in my opinion 2-3 meetings per day doesn't feel like a lot of social interaction, speaking as someone with social anxiety it's not too bad once you get used to your coworkers. but I guess that depends on how badly you want to avoid talking to people...and yes I absolutely agree, if OP actually WANTS to work in an office (a place designed to have people interact with each other and work together) specifically they're really just going to have to accept social interaction as an inevitability.
>>43838232>I will take hrt FAKEREPPER!!!!!
>>43838967those don't pay well i think...>>43839031that doesn't sound too bad...i like to write powershell scripts something but i know that isn't enough for a dev job...>>43839286yeah....>>43839396yeah.........
