What mannerisms/actions make you immediately clock a man as gay? In your opinion, are men or women better at clocking guys as gay? I've been clocked several times at work... primarily by men. I don't have a very stereotypically gay voice I'm not overly-flamboyant.

I've clocked two guys at work who weren't super flamboyant/clocky... I don't even really know how I clocked them, it was almost just like my brain said "This dude is gay" and I was right.
>>
normal people usually go to work to work not to guess who has sex with who at work
>>
honestly my gaydar is really shit the only person ive legit clocked was my old manager but it was becuase he had kindof a subtle fagcent only with certain words and also dressed extremely well and would get kinda awkward other coworkers would ask about girlfriends
>>
>>43911401
Im a straight tranny so i think my gaydar sucks but for me its usually one or more of the following that has me looking
>piercings, jewelry beyond a chain
>gymbro
>fagcent
>longer hair
>any fashion sense
>nice shoes that arent jordans, black and red, etc
>vocabulary
>doesnt talk about women
>>
>>43911435
It comes up a lot more than you'd think. Especially if you work in a job that is project-oriented. Between projects everybody is just talking about boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives/sex. Most of my coworkers are in their mid-late 20s. Maybe you just work around prudes.
>>
>>43911458
its fucking insane how shit the average moid dresses i dont even think my fashion sense is that good but i swear 99% of these "people" leave the house in a dirty pair of jeans and a hoodie/jacket that doesnt fit them right
>>
>>43911401
it's not any one thing, but a combination of things
>good hygiene
>not married and over 30
>friends with women
>nice, but not in a douchy dad/bro kind of way
>>
>>43911494
yeah most employees want to atleast be on friendly terms so they have something to talk about at work during downtime - relationships and sex is basic small talk. even single people are usually happy to talk about their experiences and wishes of their dream relationship. if someone is reluctant to talk about it they either come off closet gay or like a nervous forever alone incel. the way they brush the question of can be pretty telling which camp they fall into in a way thats hard to explain.
>>
>>43911514
this is actually pretty perfect and in hindsight all contributed to how i clocked manager in >>43911445 except he didnt have any close female friends that i knew of
>>
>>43911458
A combination of these is definitely indicative of a gay dude. Some of these aren't good indicators by themselves tho- like jewelry/piercings, being a gymbro, and fagcent. Sooooo many straight dudes have the fagcent... and jewelry is common as fuck among these nu-male guys or alt dudes/guys who were alt as teens and are still nostalgic about it. Most gymbros I've met have been hella homophobic.

>>43911504
I'm legit the only dude at my work who wears a polo shirt and stays clean-cut hahaha.
>>
>>43911573
gymbro is kinda throwing me as well but maybe im just not interacting with the right ones. would agree jewlery is more common than it used to be but it is still kinda an indicator imo. just not wallet chains or ealobes.
>>
>>43911543
This is how one guy clocked me. LMAO. First he was asking me about what girls I liked and then somewhere along the way in the conservation he could tell there was no real passion in my voice, and then he hit me with "You're gay, aren't you?"

At the time I worked around 3 really homophobic religious dudes and I wasn't comfortable being openly gay... I was like 21... I was like "N-no..." and he's like "Don't lie. You're gay as hell" Hahahaha.

Another time I was at a bar with 2 coworkers and one of them had his wife with him. I started talking to her and she brought up plants. I started bringing up botany and showing her plant photos and she sorta pivoted in her attitude towards me and started treating me like the gbf- asking me about astrology and Taylor Swift like I was a diva or something... then my coworker hits me with "So. Are you ever getting married?" and I'm like "I haven't met the right girl" and he's like "I know you're looking... you'll find one eventually... maybe named John or Mark or Will or maybe Richard" and his wife and my other coworker started fucking dying laughing. I got all defensive because I was young and dumb (I think I was 22 or 23?), I was like "NO!" and that made it even worse.
>>
>>43911656
that second story is cute anon i hope youre working somewhere you can be more open about yourself now
>>
>>43911401
my gaydar has been spot on my whole life, for some reason the biggest giveaway for me is how somebody walks and their posture, if it's not obvious by their fagcent/appearance
>>
>>43911619
I would say personally the ones I've noticed are like

>Bringing up really artsy/crafts-oriented hobbies- things like sewing, printmaking, calligraphy... or even things like botany.
>Gestures with the wrist/forearm hoisted upwards in a resting position
>Soft eyes, almost like a woman's eyes
>cocking the neck/pivoting with the neck when talking or posing
>Putting one hip out when standing stationary or swining both hips while walking
>resting the hand on the face when talking or sitting stationary- this combined with pivoting the neck is like... hella gay.
>>
>>43911401
Voice, it's always the voice.
>>
>>43911687
I do think the stereotype about gay dudes walking fast is true.
>>
>>43911714
i walk fast af and i've never heard of that specifically, i learned something new
>>
>>43911705
This has failed me 3 times. I have 3 coworkers with the faggiest voices who I swore were gay as hell just because they had such a strong fagcent... until I met their wives/girlfriends.
>>
>>43911705
Also, thr two dudes I DID accurately clock as gay didn't have the gay accent.
>>
>>43911695
like yeah but all of this is really obvious stuff imo people who act this might as well be out already

this is like crumbl CEO masserisms
>>
>>43911728
i think the accent has to do with having a single mom or sisters growing up, it's just how you hear things around the house so it rubs off on you, most people sound like who was around the house with them with similar twangs to certain words
>>
uh what if i like botany and stuff but no one has ever thought im gay

...its cause im troon right?
>>
>>43911790
yes unfortunately
>>
>>43911768
I never thought about this. I always assumed it was sorta from imitating women and girls (or gay media), but I didn't think about single-mother households. You're right though, thinking about it... most the people I know with this accent (both gay and straight) grew up without daddy around.

>>43911790
Yes lol. Or you don't work around rednecks/blue collar dudes. Those guys are brutal, they'll call you a faggot just for saying you enjoy baking. Some of the younger crowd cares a lot less about you being a dude and enjoying stereotypically-feminine hobbies.
>>
>>43911401
posting warrior cat art for one...
>>
>>43911746
Some people act like this without even knowing they act this way though desu... and there are some straight guys who will do one or all of these things.
>>
>>43911674
I still work at the same place, but with a different team now. I've never explicitly said I'm gay, and I haven't brought up boyfriends/dates in conversations, but I just stopped caring somewhere along the line... I even have a Lesbian coworker now who I sorta avoided for a long time (weird anxiety about talking to another queer person in a work environment desu) and may try to befriend. My cubicle is hella gay lol... like, I've got rainbows, gay lions kissing, pink sparkly shit, a bunch of pinback buttons that say shit like "Naughty AF" and "Mixed up kid."

I became the annoying gay lol. I feel like I've kinda earned it a bit.

Despite this I still have one really old LDS coworker who always asks me when I'm going to find a wife LOL. Thought about telling him about my current guy last time he said this but refrained from it.
>>
>>43911987
thats awesome lol you sound like a fun guy. seems like you pretty much are eplicitly gay in every way unless someone asks directly atp
>>
>>43912118
Depends on the person I think. Like... most of my coworkers avoid talking about relationships with me like the plague now... I think BECAUSE they know I'm gay lol. They do they same with my other coworker who is lowkey dating a dude who is like 30 years older than she is... they just never bring up relationships around her because of that.

I think if one of the younger crowd asked me I'd tell them. I don't tell the old LDS dude because it's like... dude is 70 and kinda out of the loop on everything. If I told him I was gay he'd probably think I was trans or something. He's very old school and wholesome... almost like the "Sex should only be for procreation" type. When he bugs me about finding a wife/girlfriend I usually just say "I'm dating and looking for a partner" and just keep it vague.
>>
>>43911695
fuck i check most boxes except woman's eyes and fagcent
i'm a repper tho
>>
>>43912318
FTM or MTF? As a cis person, are you gay?

I was the gay equivalent of a repper for years as a teenager. Even got myself into some furry porn with female characters and things like FTM transdudes/cboys. I just kept saying "I'm straight! I just haven't met a woman who is my type"- while I was constantly masturbating to/fantasizing about pretty much exclusively men. I finally had sex with a dude when I was 19 and then stopped lying to myself.

>doesnt talk about women
This is the one I'm fucking worried about. I got fucking fired for reporting sexual harassment at my last job, so I'm trying to avoid any topic that can veer in that direction, but I'm one-on-one with my muslim boss costantly.
All he does is flirt with chicks, talk about his next job, go on insane tagents, and talk about pussy.
He seems too stupid to figure me out but man if it isn't nerv racking each time I change the subject.
>>
>>43912456
mtf
bi? straight leaning? because i like women and i really wish i didn't but i come back to liking them every time (i hate it) and i never tried anything with them. with men idk. even tho sometimes i can be crazy about guys i know and i dreamed about leaving my family forever and marrying a guy idk. fuck i can even count more moves i did to guys (unsuccessfully). am i retarded? if i had a choice to kiss a guy or a girl i'd kiss a guy but i feel like it's my compulsive heteronormativity for my trans identity. i feel like i'm just trying to find anything fem in myself bc i don't have any
>>
>>43911728
They can be closeted fags, you don't know
>>
>>43911737
But it's not only the gay accent, it can be a sweeter and calmer voice. Gay men's voices don't need to be flamboyant, they can be more suave and soothing, less aggressive speech than straight men

I think most women immediately clock me as a turbo faggot bottom from my hair, always dressing dark academia, excessive hand movements while talking and my soft fagcent voice. Also stay away from Asain women for some reason they think they can just walk up to me and talk about their gay boy love Korean dramas like I know what they’re talking about.
>>
>>43911401
The real question is how to tell if other people have clocked YOU as a fag lol. There's a guy i'm friends with that has literally interrogated me about my orientation and I refuse to tell him and he keeps asking lol. He 99% knows I'm a fag but I think it's funny to keep that 1% around.
>>
>>43912600
>>43912700
Nice dubs to both of ya... and both 00. I never thought I was too clocky due to my voice alone, but now I'm curious... here's a voice message I sent a friend the other day: https://voca.ro/1jv1yllpFLiC do I have a faggot voice?
>>
>>43912773
I know how a few of them clocked me... honestly, a lot of it is the sum of certain attributes and not certain attributes in and of themselves. My big ones were gestures and poses, being prudish, stereotypically-feminine hobbies, lots of female friends, and knowing a lot of gay music.
>>
>>43911401
god i wish i could clock other gays. I can never tell. Im so fucking jealous of you
>>
>>43911401
I've had at least 2 of my straight friends that told me they never knew I was gay till I grew my hair out and got a nose ring.
>>
>>43911573
Yeah, piercings, fagcent, gymbro are definitely the least reliable indicators, but they're enough for me to watch for behaviors and words to catch a vibe.
Im not tryna be a creep on these straight and closeted dudes, i just want someone I can confide in on my smoke break lol
I have a coworker who was into Korn and probably had a bi phase based on what i've picked up. 10-20 years older than me but bummer i honestly want a bi/gay/trans veteran/elder in my life
>>
>>43912980
Nose rings seem to be a universal marker for lesbians LMAO. Not as much of a thing for gay men, but half the damn lesbians out there have a septum piercing.
>>
>>43913084
I work with an old ass transgirl furry who is like 68. She was dating this guy who is like a neonazi biker dude for awhile LOL.
>>
>>43911768
>>43911867
It’s not an imitation thing I believe, it’s feminisation in the brain
>>
>>43913100
We never really changed over the decades did we LMAO
>>
>>43913086
I mean most of not all of the men I'm with nose rings are some flavor of queer so maybe nose rings and just a queer thing.
>>
>>43913127
its queer tradition atp

We can fix him I swear :')
>>
>>43913084
gymbros are rarely ever gay, theyre almost always homophobic dickheads, maybe tolerant but straight dickheads at most
>>
>>43913199
Might be region specific too. I've gone out with a buncha guys and never seen a gay dude with a nose ring. Pretty much every lesbian I know has one
>>
>>43913199
I will say though, a big one that I've seen (especially among twinks/divas) is padlock jewelry or very feminine lockets. Half the divas I've met have lockets with pictures of their cats in them LMAO.
