Transsexual identity doesn't correlate to levels of persecution just as sexuality doesn't
The only difference is rates of self reporting gender or sexuality based on persecution
Gay men can serve openly in the armed forces, do not suffer as much social stigma as trannsexuals, and have no current, active legislation to delegitamize their existence (from my knowledge)
That isn't to say that the average person does not harbor homophobic thoughts, attitudes or beliefs, many do to this day
There is just a higher incidence rate in the present day for trans victims of violence, drug abuse, suicide, homelessness and familial rejection all of which are signifiers of persecution
