You can't be too miserable or else you'll have nothing to loose and troon out or rope, and you can't be too satisfied with life or else you'll start yearning for better. Keeping yourself distracted or busy enough to not think about it while being somewhat content is your best bet.

Even then I would still play or design female characters or sneak off and have my private girl moments to myself so he didn't just ruin it with fighting that sucked all the fun out and would send me into bouts of depression.
