you do sound like a tranny, i think. your resonance is a bit low (obv, since you haven't trained) and your voice has a certain nasal quality to it, which is common of trans voices. try to keep any constriction around your pharynx, rather than your palate? it *sounds* like this may help, but i don't know...sorry...
>>
>>44210542
You sound great, nona. Wouldn't clock you for a second. How long did it take for you to develop your voice? And thanks for the pointers. Will keep them in mind once I start training.
>>
I still have a faggy moid voice but any advice would be cool. Can't raise pitch much higher without entering falsetto
https://voca.ro/1fSF9G9VKnSw

>>44210428
Your voice sounds pretty good without training, it kinda sounds like an older woman. It drops in some places, and resonance is a bit low?

>>44210542
Sounds really good, wouldn't be able to tell you're trans by your voice
>>
>>44210807
this is my natural voice, more or less, just a bit darker and more resonant, i guess, in the first and third cases. it is hard to say whether i trained for this at all. i don't know anymore :( for years and years i did voice-train, but i don't really pay attention to my voice at all anymore and i have no idea what it sounded like initially. i don't know whether this is the result of effort or genetics. sorry :(
do you mean to say that my voice sounds female? in every recording? in all equally? in one or two more than the other one or two?
>>44210855
you have a definite gay lilt, and you are somewhat nasal; your resonance is low, too, but this is a good start! what i said earlier about keeping constriction limited to the area of your pharynx might help you, as well.
>wouldn't be able to tell you're trans
what does this mean...
>>
>>44211062
Sorry that was insensitive of me, what I meant is you sound like a cis woman. Not sure if that's your goal cuz you mentioned being NB
>>
>>44211114
My bad too. I also meant that you sound like a cis woman in your recordings.

>>44210855
> it kinda sounds like an older woman.
I'm in my early 30s, so sound good to me. Will definitely start voice training. You all have given me a little more confidence.

>I still have a faggy moid voice
I think you sound pretty good. The start of the recording I heard more of the faggy moid that you mentioned, but as you continued, it sounded more and more like what I'd expect from a trans woman. I know nothing, but keep it up!
>>
>>44211114
>>44211164
it is okay! i just wasn't sure what you had meant.
ty for the feedback. the goal is to sound androgynous, so i figure i've probably got to lower my resonance a bit.

You or somebody please read
"Basil the Supreme Emperor of the galactic twink empire was disgusted at such violence. He declared a holy jihad crusade on both factions, capturing their men and women on mass to be reeducated.

The men were pumped full of estrogen by direct penis injection every single day while locked in their chastity cages.

The soldiers violated them at all times and places throughout the many ships of the many fleets.

The women were systematically impregnated by the cutest of femboys.
As all white empire there was much bleaching and the IQ's of the offspring of the brown women were greatly increased.

It was called one of the greatest humanitarian upliftings of a people ever seen in recorded history dating back tens of thousands of years.

This was anti racism in action.
This was the great leadership of the fenboy white Master race."

Good starting point, work on resonance a bit (yours isn't bad as a starting point, but you need to know how to increase it and vary it & being a bit less monotone and you'll be fine.
>>44210855
You sound like an autistic effeminate guy to me. You have a somewhat gravely sound at parts of your speech, try to cut that out, right before you say "morning lies" especially. Resonance isn't amazing, I think that's your biggest issue. A higher pitch would help but if it goes into falsetto don't force it, just try to work up that pitch slowly.

>>44211382
you sound really great!! you have such a cute voice :) i don't think it sounds obviously trans but the first one does sound a bit strained. i think that will fade with practice, though. the second sounds more less strained but they both are good. very nice job <3
>>44211393
it sounds like you are also constricting possibly the wrong area? i am not sure...are you raising your tongue to your palate? try moving only the very back of your tongue, like, where it begins to precipitate into your throat.
>>44211406
even the singing? i figured that at least would sound male lol. maybe my voice has changed after all.
>44211645
gross. also en masse is not spelled that way
>>44211943
tongue placement! if you are raising your tongue to your palate you will conduct your voice through your nose and it will thus sound nasal. try to keep your tongue relaxed (except for, as i said above, the very, very back of it; or the front of your throat. whatever you want to consider that. i'm not a physician. but like constrict your pharyngeal area and not the space closer to your mouth)
>>
>>44212024
NTA but I clocked the singing. It sounds female for most of it but certain parts sound male. That is impressive though I want to work on singing. Also thanks for saying I have a cute voice but I worry it won’t go away I’ve voice trained for like 4 years and use it consistently. I think when I sit down in front of a mic I sound different though I should just candid record myself in a conversation and clip it next time.
Your new one sounds more androgynous, sounds, more female than male for sure but there is a more trans sound to it? I’m not sure if that is what you are going for. Androgynous voice seems really difficult.
>>
>>44212064
>>more less strained
i should proofread when i rearrange my sentences sigh..
>I worry it won’t go away
that what won't go away? i think you should keep up what you've got desu. it sounds very good.

ty for the singing feedback; hearing that it sounds "female for most of it" is kind of wack. i would never have heard that years ago. i think this is good, though...andro singing voice might be impossible but i am on my way there :)
ty also for feedback on the new recording. i have been trying to work on the androgynous voice on and off for like a year and a half now and it has been difficult, yeah...there must be some sweet spot, though; it has to exist someplace between mostly-masculine and mostly-feminine. i just can't really figure out how to get there. (probably i should just practice more...)

I feel happy with my voice but feel free to be open if you find it flawed
https://vocaroo.com/1gfuho92p1ET

>>44210428
solid baseline; your vocal habits are already fairly feminine
practice pitch modulation as early a you can!
also, word of advice about VoiceTools: it's an amazing app for what it is, but don't take the gender percentages seriously. trying to save chars for replies but lmk if you want me to elaborate on why

>>44210542
very solid andro sound, leaning fem. monotone and slight clipped sound read masc, emphasis on nasal resonance and head voice reads fem
don't really think you need much change but if you want to read slightly more masc, dropping your voice a little more into your throat/chest

>>44210855
sounds like your voice is mostly exiting your mouth which is normal at first
feel your chest and hum the lowest note you can continuously; your chest should vibrate
then hum the highest note you can comfortably hum, continuously; the vibration should have mostly left your chest and gone to your throat even if the note isn't much higher
since you're early in VT, use this to develop an awareness of where your voice is sitting, and work to move your voice higher in the throat even when speaking at a lower pitch

>>44211382
you're in a good spot. I don't personally hear the obvious transness you're talking about; you're just hyperfixating I think
to get that last 10-20%, focus on varying modulation more
also, slow down a little and soften your consonants; I think it's less the qualities of your voice and more your manner of speaking atp if anything

>>44211393
imo it's a big mistake to overfocus on pitch at the start; that's how we get the unrealistic high pitch you have here
focus on breath support; fem voice is more like singing and "pushing up" on the diaphragm
you seem to be "shoving" your voice all the way to the front of your face; try humming a few sentences instead. the "proper" sensation feels a lot like that
>>
>>44217007
You sound good nona, you voice pass to me, just sound like a woman with a slightly unique voice. I think you have a tiny bit of that thing where your pitch lowers at the end of your sentence which is kinda moidcoded. What type of church do you go to? Do they know you’re a tranny?
>>
ran out of characters in prev post, here's me if you want to rate:
https://vocaroo.com/1gfuho92p1ET

>>44212024
reads butch lesbian tending toward high-voiced man rn but I don't know that your resonance lowering strikes me as unnatural; pretty good actually
I assume you're on T?
weird suggestion but try growling/groaning as low as you possibly can and feel where that sensation sits in your throat and try to push down toward that sensation incrementally
also, one highly masc quality is a "cliff" for voice; masc voices will sit in their typical range and then plummet to 80-120 hz on the very last syllable/letter, almost like you just drop all effort at the last second

>>44213951
I agree you're in a midpoint; you still have clipped speech characteristic of masc voice (sharp consonants and deep, quick valleys between words as opposed to flowiness), but you have a semi-songlike quality in the way that your voice continues to resound throughout your speech
soften consonants and elongate your speech as a starting point
also, pick a musical note that's comfortable but higher than your natural voice rn (VoiceTools will be helpful for this)
start training toward that being your natural pitch; eventually your muscle memory will forget what your old voice felt like, which is how you eventually lock a higher fem voice
>>

>>

>>
>>44217275
I'm really sorry that was your experience :(
there was a split in the Methodist church recently, with one side wanting to fully affirm (not just "welcome but not affirm) queer people and the other wanting to be traditional. I go to the first kind so I'm not only a member, but also an active member of the community. I volunteer with food projects, kids' classes, music, etc. possibly you were unfortunate enough to be in the second kind
my beliefs are really complicated. I grew up Christian so I have a "Jesus bone" in my body, and our pastor's preaching is slowly making me want to believe fully again; our church is all about social justice, interpreting scripture according to the belief that god is actually unconditionally loving, etc.
there's a part of me that wants to become an official member, but that requires a testament of faith in Christ, which I want to make sure I do honestly and not just to feel like I belong, if I do it at all
all that being said I have an extremely close personal relationship with god, but she's a lot more general of a god than most Christian depictions. even so the spiritual community at my church is the best I've ever been around; we all believe but nobody goes around virtue signaling about how "much" their beliefs are, you know?

if you miss church but don't normally feel safe in them, I can't recommend the United Methodist Church enough
its doctrines explicitly welcome women and queer people in all areas of church life, including leadership and preaching, it tends to be a lot more focused on social activism/community involvement, and (at least my church) explicitly affirms that everyone is "saved" (but to my knowledge we don't believe in hell) and loved by god, including other types of religious people and atheists/agonistics
>>
>>44217406
Thanks for all the info, I’m kind of autistic about religion I find what people think really interesting and would like to go to church some. That’s interesting though because my childhood church was a UMC one actually. I think they have a female pastor now which is funny because that used to not be allowed there.

Not great, sorry. First is in falsetto, don’t even keep doing that at all. Second is a better training point but I think still partially falsetto. Work on raising your larynx (Adam’s Apple) while you speak first to increase resonance without increasing your speaking pitch. Then later increase the pitch to as much a point as you can comfortably maintain without sounding strained or ever going into falsetto.

After you raised the pitch its better at the end. That is a decent place to try to stay and practice. I don’t have my computer with me but I think your resonance is good look at a spectrogram to check it. I’d just read like a book out loud with that and try to work on sort of muscle memory for a bit with it and then improve it more.

You’re confusing pitch and resonance sometimes, that isn’t your normal pitch that you trying to speak from the chest in a high pitch. Really need to look at a live spectrogram while you talk. Also that is fagcent cultural appropriation, I couldn’t just turn on and off the fagcent :.(, I just got made fun of for it a bunch (it wasn’t that flamey though luckily).

This is me reading James Joyce's letters about his girlfriend farting. Do I sound gay? I'm clinically autistic guy and I wonder if I sound odd. What sort of a voice do I have
https://voca.ro/1ciP6ZLv9pg

Let's all read these letters on vocaroo, it's a funny bit

it's you! beautiful voice as always nona :) i love to hear you. i don't think you need to have a higher pitch, but it's not something you can't try.
thank you also for such assiduous and descriptive feedback...you are the backbone of this gen
i am not on T, by the way, lol. i am amab; i just have a weird voice, i guess. thank you for your cliff analogy! i will try to incorporate this into my speech. do you think that i should apply this to my natural voice, since you thought it sounded androgynous already? or should i stick with the deepening?
>>44217169
as others have said, you are speaking in falsetto here, which is unnatural. your second recording does sound better, but still unnatural. what have you worked on, so far? how adept are you at manipulating your larynx and resonance?
i agree with other posters that the end of this
>https://voca.ro/1coCrlCKBn0O
recording sounds best...this should be a place to ground yourself, for now. your voice should still live and resonate in your throat, when you talk.
>>44218555
resonance! resonance is the most important thing you can affect in your voice. learn how to manipulate your larynx and adjust it thence :) if you just speak with your natural cadence and intonation you should not develop the valley-girl accent out of nowhere.

agh i wanted to respond to more posters but now i've got to go again...i will return vtg my beloved

Maybe a bit airy and lacks fullness? Or just a cultural difference. Not a problem but here’s what I mean https://voca.ro/1dKoxivveujo

I’ve posted in these before, still have the same problem. I have a naturally high voice but sound like a 12 year old boy when I lean into it. Going lower and lazier here how does this sound?

you sound vaguely fruity, but not in the traditional way. i am unsure of how to describe it. you do also sound "odd", but i do not know whether this is the autism or simply the cadence and intonation you chose for the letter. it is, anyway, very fitting.

i also read one (the first), but it is terrible
>>44220350
you definitely pass nona. nice voice :)
you sound familiar, too, but i cannot place you. probably i have never heard your voice before.
>>
>>44220758
i don't think you have a problem, nona. i am confused by the first recording but you sound perfectly fine in it; in the second you also sound fine, but decidedly bored. i can hear "twelve-year-old-boy", but that's just what some people sound like desu
