i didn't read the fight as being about her transness. the central conflict of the fight is how her body is responding to the Fun Gang's flirting, which, on its face at least, is a conflict about her sexuality, not her gender. the reason why she wants to be in the foid darkner bod is because she's a tranny, but that's not what the fight is about. that's more of the inciting incident that the core conflict. to me the fight's thesis is way more akin to a self-hating transbian or a polilez situation.

Deltarune is so GNC in the first place that in some sense, Ralsei being trans is somehow a regression from queerness.I also think it just creates writing problems. The main problem is "why doesn't Ralsei just live as a woman?" Deltarune is a nearly queer-utopic society, trans women like the lion waitress already comfortably, and on top of that Ralsei is a Darkner so there are truly no social barriers that would cause him to "repress". So the only thing that would make sense is he's trying to be the third hero in the prophecy. But, that doesn't make sense, because Ralsei wants to delay or halt the prophecy. He's already tried through non violence and by trying to prevent the spread of fountains and closing new ones, both things he has hinted would hasten the arrival of the roaring. If the prophecy involves three heroes on worlds' edge, then Ralsei should try to delay the three heroes from being around. If the third hero is the prince alone in deepest dark, why didn't Ralsei try being a princess?Maybe Ralsei is intentionally trying to be the prince to stop someone else from being it, so he's repressing for that reason. But in the chapter 5 princess climb game, Ralsei puts on a dress for Kris and says the only difference in a prince and princess is how you present yourself. Then, that means Ralsei is a princess in that scene, because Ralsei presented female. If Ralsei is comfortable doing that so casually to try to woo Kris some more, it makes it a lot less believable that pretending to be male is an important thing Ralsei could at all be taking seriously. I can go on too, I don't think the issues end here, but yeah. I just don't think Ralsei being transfem in the sense he yearns to be a woman makes sense. He could be genderfluid, but if he is then he already knows and is comfortable IMO.
