It is hard to argue for absolutely without making statements about youth rights as a whole, which is a larger topic.Children are vulnerable, and the life of pubescent minors in particular is almost universally tough. It's well understood that teenagers can just feel uncomfortable with their gender and sex for reasons that don't need medical transition. Parents also have... some rights, to be parents, and serve as a check on the world around them and the wishes of the child.But if a child is about to commit suicide or has already made an attempt, the rights of the child to be treated outweigh the rights of the parent. A properly evaluated minor who otherwise genuinely needs help may be capable of understanding the risks of transition by late puberty. I'm extremely sympathetic towards all neurodivergent children who have parents who are slower to understand or accept what they are affected by due to social taboos. And the possibility of facing disciplinary action by state medicine boards, or getting sued for medical malpractice on maturity, may be enough of a liability to dissuade doctors from becoming pill mills for growing children.
