what's best for hair loss/hair growth? i already take e but i still consistently lose some hair while showering or brushing and im starting to get worried.ive also heard it makes yout beard grow more, is there a way to avoid that?

There are essentially two things that work, short of HRT: 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (finasteride and dutasteride) and minoxidil. Everything else is snake oil, with the possible exception of some research chemicals currently in trials.5AR inhibitors are hormonal treatments that suppress the conversion of testosterone (T) into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the latter of which causes androgenic hair loss much more aggressively. Dutasteride is stronger than finasteride in its effect here. Topical administration for both exist but is inferior to oral administration. 5AR inhibitors have the net effect of bringing head and body hair away from a male pattern and towards a female pattern.Minoxidil is a non hormonal treatment with an only partially understood mechanism of action (hint: it isn't related to "blood flow"). It can be taken topically or orally, but I strongly recommend topical administration only, since oral administration has a small risk of serious heart issues, and the effect cannot be localized this way (which would mean your facial hair also sees the effect). Minoxidil has the net effect of increasing hair anywhere it reaches.I'm not a troon so IDK how/to what extent exogenous estrogens complement or are redundant with the 5AR inhibitors, but minoxidil should stack with them.
>>44406802if nona's testosterone levels are low enough, a 5α reductase inhibitor (like finasteride or dutasteride) would not be necessary. low overall testosterone production means low DHT levels so if she's on a GnRHa or antiandrogen, there likely won't be high enough DHT levels to warrant a 5α reductase inhibitor. if nona does not have low testosterone levels though an 5α reductase inhibitor could be beneficial, though an antiandrogen would be preferable. topical minoxidil applied to scalp could be a good solution here for hair regrowth. I would also not recommend oral minoxidil for MtFs for the same reasoning.

It's also worth noting that topical minoxidil works to varying degrees depending on one's genetics, but that you can get around the genetic bad luck by using tretinoin topically with the minoxidil (tretinoin requires a prescription here in America, but it's also very easy to get from online greymarket pharmacies).If you care about why tretinoin matters here: minoxidil is actually an inactive prodrug that metabolizes into the active drug minoxidil sulfate, and, while the liver contains the sulfotransferase enzymes that perform this step, topically applied minoxidil cannot benefit from this, and so it's up to whatever lesser quantity of sulfotransferase enzymes present in your scalp tissue to peform the metabolism, but around 40% of people genetically have very low scalp concentrations of the enzyme. Tretinoin will increase the concentration of the enzyme sufficiently if you apply it around twice weekly.
