I think that some feel disgust at their body in part because of the worlds high standards of what they should look like based on their primary sexual characteristics. If you don't fit your not welcome. People who don't fit one group see the other as their only option. Detransitioner's fear dejection from all social circles and find transitioning as a loss of both groups since they cannot be conventionally "attractive" either way. My personal opinion is that you don't need to surgically change your body if you want to participate in actions or activities reserved for the other sex. You can be cis man and wear a dress or like makeup.
