"Trans rights" has always been a money equation, just like literally everything else in this world. Everything is about money.
In the UK, due to their centralized healthcare system, their lower population, and various other factors that are too complex to list here, the amount of wealth they can extract from transgender patients is very low. The private sector has picked up the slack, but even then it's still low. Many trans people in the UK have also turned to DIY, further decreasing profits.
This is why eliminating trans people from the equation was such an easy play for the UK. There was nearly no money lost whatsoever.
In the US, we are seeing a very dedicated effort to eliminate gender affirming care as well. But it's encountering much, much more resistance. There are some states that are essentially saying "no matter what you tell us, we will still cut off girls' boobies".
Why is that? Because it's profitable. There's money to be made. Hormones, ongoing bloodwork, complex surgeries. They're not trying to ban gender transition, they're trying to make it a luxury that people will cross into different states (and thus have to pay a cross-state premium on their insurance) to partake in. Places like Oregon, California, etc. stand to make a decent chunk of money this way with very high profit margins.

i could buy a lifetime of estrogen for less than $100
>>
>>44486025
i must figure out how to do this. i'm a chemist it can't be that hard

Based capitalist realist take. Money and power are the only thing governments worry about, morality is a story bugpeople tell themselves to justify the pain it puts them in.

You're a chemist, figure it out from there.

If a man took estrogen but got no surgeries would he come to resemble a woman entirely with enough time? Does this apply to ALL men who take estrogen?
>>
>>44486025
Could you? Go right on ahead then. What they're really banking on is the fact that gender dysphoria is an incurable problem. Eventually your gains from estrogen will plateau and you will want surgery. You can't order a box of surgical tools and give yourself FFS. Well, I guess you could, but you'd maul yourself pretty badly in the process.

Yes, exactly. Any form of moral posturing politicians take to "protect our most marginalized individuals" is ultimately a power play to form an "us vs. them" narrative against the red leaders. They don't actually give a shit and never will, it's all theater. "Shield States" like Oregon are just trying to ensure they can continue to operate in this rapidly growing space and keep their voting base happy in the meantime.
