this is the paradox yeah, many of the countries with high social acceptance on paper are actually not very good places to be trans for practical things like healthcare. asking cis people whether they think trans women are women isn't really a good barometer for what life as a trans person is like there. this especially goes for larger, multicultural countries like the US or, in the case of this survey, france (your experience is gonna vary a lot depending on whether you live in a progressive student city, or in the banlieue surrounded by muslims, or in a medium-sized far-right-voting town in the south).

I mean, the pendulum swing is always possible, but I think it's gonna take another couple of presidential administrations. And the depressing reality is, acceptance is only dictated by vibes. During Obama's last years, companies and governmental agencies felt that it was too risky to not be inclusive and accepting of trans people. This somewhat continued into Trump 1.0 but by Trump 2.0 it started rolling back. Now if you're openly inclusive, you invite too much backlash. Target ended up nixing its Pride section because their stores were getting threats over it. States are threatened with funding losses for aiding trans people.

This all depends on how long this right-wing wave lasts. And unfortunately, they're winning and quite effortlessly at that. Most American people genuinely seem to want this.

yes, we have the highest employment, one of the oldest populations in Europe and pretty much nothing going on for us. Cities are dead after 6pm probably because no one has any money to spend, least of all the youth. And if you do decide to work over 50% of your salary goes to taxes and paying for old people's pensions.
