why are people pretending that being a tranny is more than just a mental illness? no one tells schizophrenics that their delusions are real
>>44612165>no one tells schizophrenics that their delusions are realI do
Well I have both and one is a feeling and the other is being literally insane, I could handle the body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria but I'd get so unhinged that I was forced to get my head checked by psychiatrists.I can't separate them tho, they are intrinsically connected and one fuels the other, but being a schizo is dangerous to others, being trans isn't.
>>44612165Because the point ultimately is to get along with the rest of society. It does not help schizophrenic people get along with the rest of society to indulge in their mental impulses. It DOES help trans people get along with the rest of society to match their body to their identity.
>>44612583>the point ultimately is to get along with the rest of society.Umm.. no fucking thank you?
>>44612620The question wasnt about a personal choice but about why society recommends different methods of treatment.
>>44612165a case against the GO TO statement
>>44612165>no one tells schizophrenics that their delusions are realMaybe normalfags won't, but I'm in the know.
>>44612648I've thought about this for a second. You're right. I only took issue with you saying "it helps trans people to get along with the rest of society", because what I was thinking about was the notion of pushing trans people toward competence according to the standards of society. That is the opposite of what you were saying. I only had a knee-jerk reaction to what you said and interpreted it in the wrong way because I get sensitive about witnessing trans people attempting to be competent at a catastrophic expense of themselves. Getting too used to the language behind it made my head neglect the context of your statement too much.Beyond the topic at hand, I will still mention that it's sometimes good for trans people to learn to get along with solitude too. Sometimes the conditions of a culture or a community at large surrounding the individual; even if it claims to be in support of trans people; is too high of an expense for what it's worth. Anyone who is unjustifiably pushed to the periphery could only penetrate into society at all if they find community in the few instead of crushing their soul for the many. I think this is a huge issue for the LGBTQ that is seldom discussed enough. We can't let these issues extend insofar as we are accepted if we haven't even crucially resolved some of our own.
Imagine sedating dysphoric people like other psychos so that they don't indulge in their fantasies of being another sex and lose their sanity over itI wonder how well that work
>>44613135That last sentence sounded like slop, let me clarify it for a second. I only meant to say that it dilutes the cultural problems we have if we don't resolve these issues that are in tandem to each of our own experiences, with our own differences that we face between ourselves and other people. That is all
