If my old friend sees this somehow, I'm sorry and I wish we were still friends. (He'll recognize it if he reads the whole post.)

I freaked out about him being a FTM transgender. I told him that I don't believe in gender ideology and that you're a woman if you were born with a vagina, and you can't change sex, and that changing identity documents to reflect the opposite sex is fraudulent. I am still struggling to accept that a man can become a woman or a woman can become a man. (Side note: But the last part about IDs is technically incorrect, because fraudulent ID means against the law, and it's technically a wholly legal process within the system.) It was not worth throwing away my closest friend. I remember when you agreed without hesitation to help me move into my new apartment, and when my other friend got bored and left, you insisted on seeing it through even though he was your ride home. You helped me out with money without asking any questions. You always saw the best in everybody.

I just can't wrap my head around someone being the opposite sex. I'm saying "he" out of an attempt to understand. Isn't it magical thinking?
