What actually helped you go from meandering trying to voice train and getting nowhere to actually making progress
idfk, ive been trying to follow sumianvoice and other stuff on transvoice.party and idont know wt'f to actually even do, other ppl can figure this shit out and im way too retarded to make progress other then sounding like a man in a voice recorder for months. its so frustrating how theres so much advice and yet i still dont understand what to actually do
>>44784484there's a sea of information and almost nothing actually useful. there's no established path. if you want to learn drawing, music, cooking, working out, coding, anything there is plenty of structured resources but voice training has so much information that has nothing to do with each other and no one actually making anything to connect it all. it's fucking insane
>>44784509thank you for being sane everyone else just acts like im doing something wrong or says to see a voice coach (cant do that lmao), ppl with passing voices are somehow useless at giving advice. ive been trying for years to voice train on and off and made actually zero progress and i think about how moided my voice is always, its kinda funny
>>44784535just try to emulate a voice you like then use the basic principles to work on areas you need to work on, identify where ur going wrong: too low pitch/too much weight/vocal fry. just try to sound like a girl and keep trying
>>44784572i don't understand how to change weight or vocal fry at all. only pitch
>>44784594so go watch a video on how to change vocal weight and practice that, then once youve done that do the same for vocal fry
>>44784594i think sumian's whole thing is that if your pitch goes up and you naturalize at the higher pitch your weight will naturally go down. that's the pipm method. dunno im trying to do that to be able to have brighter resonance cuz the way ive been doing resonance has come with a lot of strain and constriction.
>>44784706what is the difference between weight, vocal fry, and resonance. how can a sound be bright
>>44784436Tbh I just found a voice i liked and tried to imitate it for months while driving to and from work. One day it clicked and I've sounded that way ever since.
>>44784741i think the sumian website has examples of voices, but basically, imagine the difference between a violin and a cello. even if they play the same note the violin is "brighter". scientifically it's something with lower falloff in harmonics, but i can't say for sure.weight is how much vocal fold volume ur engaging. so like a thick string vs a thin string on an instrument.fry i think is a different register, kinda like falsetto but on the other side.also t. voicehon so take what i say with a grain of salt; someone who actually knows this stuff should probs correct me
>>44784780i've read hundreds of posts about voice training and watched tons of videos and the same story happens every time>i didn't follow any guides i just yolo'd and one day it magically happenedit's driving me fucking insane
>>44784786some ppl are built different ig. im in the same boat as you i meet voicepassoids who say shit like that and it drives me insane.
>>44784786yeah holy shit its so annoying im losing it ive spent months doing stupid exercises every night trying to imitate voices and no matter what i cant get my pitch above like 160hz or improve my weight and everyone is just like giving resources that i've already looked at and taken notes on so many times
>>44784436desu it just kinda happened from using the "trained voice" often. I would spend hours and hours in valorant and then cs2 just playing as I normally would and comming every game in my feminized voice
>>44785558NTA, How do you get a "feminized voice" in the first place?
>>44784436start talking to masc guys and your girl voice will happen automatically i’m not joking
>>44785580well feminized is just whatever attemtt i could muster, it sounded like shit at first
>>44785580also to try and answer the direct question, though you've probably heard it a million times, its raising your larynx. ignore pitch, resonance, formants whatever, until you can reliably and comfortably raise your larynx none of it matters. since this is the largest factor in resonance and is the most "gendered part of dialogue"https://voca.ro/1bfLfKrigmgx
>>44785660>"this is my normal speaking voice">already a passoid voicei was never meant to transition or be a woman. Thanks for the memo
>>44785660seconding the guy above me, it's satanic black magic what you people manage to vocalize, sick shit
>>44786193>>44786210it objectively is not a "passoid" voice, it would not even register as female to a normal cis person. It is obviously the case that with enough usage of a feminized voice the subconscious mannerisms carry over to your "male" voice but it is still recognizably male. One of these days I have to dig up my old laptop that has recordings from when I first ever started voicetraining to show that it is not just a "have it or you dont". Some people get it easier but the actual way it sounds is just as bad as anyone else just starting out
>>44788584bro this is not a male voice stop larping lmao
Your fagcent... is... eternal
>>44789305ok man
>>44785660i know enough about voice to know this is completely true but i still can't figure out how to raise it consistently and without straindo u have any advicelike I've gotten it where i wanted it for brief periods and i was giddy I was floored with how much better it sounded & how much better my dysphoria wasbut i keep doing weird versions of it or not being able to get back to the same place
>>44790160in my experience it just boils down to practice, just using it constantly. At a certain level it's like exercising any workout, there's the technique and the strength. Without technique you can brute force it but it will never be comfortable, and without strength you can have a perfect feel for what to do but you wont have the endurance to actually maintain it. Both are solved through mindful practice. Reps reps and reps build the strength and being mindful of those keeps your technique in check.for me like i said in>>44785558I spent hours and hours talking to people in games, during summer break where I had no classes I spent pretty much all my free time talking in games. For you that might be a hobby club, or a bar, or really anywhere you can just talk a LOT. (I also found that it being strangers helped get past the mental block of not wanting to sound stupid with people I know by trying to feminize my voice)
>>44790456Talking to people with non-passing voice seems like a good way to get absolutely shit on in-game and attacked in public.
>>44790456ty anon. the voice spaces I've been in are frequently unhelpful/unclear about how exactly to get to where I want to get from where I am nowim trying to practice consciously but i can't always separate out exactly what I'm doing differenti have made a ton of progress getting over my mental blocks over the last year! : ) i went from being too scared to be heard practicing quietly in my room, to using my (shitty, very faggy) voice for almost every interactionbut ty that's a good idea i'll try to set up an environment where I can just use it a TON and grind really hard at itslightly reassuring to know it's probably not a technique problem and i just need to keep trying and let my muscle coordination do its thing and settle into something that works
>>44790478one of these is much more serious than the other lol, but also there are lgbtq gaming spaces : )
>>44790478I understand the in person thing, I live in a blue city so I dont worry much about that, but online? unfortunately you just have to tough that shit out. Your voice is going to sound like shit and people will make fun of you for it. Especially with the rise of transgender ppl in the public conscious, even I still get comments about me not actually being a woman despite passing 100% of the time to normie cis people. I'd just take that as motivation to get better, and as those types of comments get less and less common you have actual feedback on whether your voice passes or not, rather than the, unfortunately, biased/hugboxxy feedback you might get in trans spaces
