Hi! I am a junior in college and I am currently taking a cultural anthropology course. My first assignment is to write a study on a certain online subculture, and I decided to look into the online trans community. Within my research I have found that 4chan is exceptionally popular among trans women. I am a cis man dating a trans woman. Her and I are extremely offline. We do not use any social media apps but instagram and substack, so we are very out of the loop when it comes to trans culture online. I was wondering if I could hear some first hand experiences on how this online subculture works, what terms and phrases are popular (I know boymoder and hon are very common terms), YOUR feelings and emotions surrounding being a part of this culture, and other things you think I might find important to know. Me and my girlfriend are really looking forward to researching something new like this and I am surprised we have not gone down this route of study before. If you are interested in helping I will give you credit within my citations, as well as see if anyone wants to read my analysis. I am not here to make fun of anyone nor do I hold any malicious intent. I know having people from outside ones community can be weird, and caution is expected, however I am humbly asking you to provide references for what I am looking for.
