I know that a lots of trans people don't like sports and that its a stereotype in our community, especially with Transgirls. I'm the opposite I loved the sport I did, but had to give it up to transition. Anyone else have the same experience.

Somewhat similar but yeah, I did a sport in college and had to stop when I trooned out, it still makes me sad :(. The stupidest part is that I sucked compared to most men because I am intersex and physically cant produce testosterone but was still forced into the male category because of an arbitrary sex assigned to me at birth even though cis women have more testosterone than me and consistently better. I love having people's assumptions about my body lumped onto me to force me into a nest categorization, I fuckinf hate cis people holy

Yeah that sucks and depending on what sport it is that seems incredibly dangerous too. Fuck those people.

It was cross country so like not terribly physical but being the smallest and weakest person on a course lends itself to being pushed around a lot :/

My coaches had me do tons of weight training to try to makeup for it but you cant really build much muscle with literally zero ways to process or make testosterone. The only reason that I really got into a college team was because I spent my entire life running and had built up a mildly good cardiovascular system, but even then it was crazy how fast men and women would improve and be better than me after running for a good 6 months while it took me half my life of consistent running to reach that point *sigh*

yup. i was doing mma and was pretty decent at it and was fully planning on competing and just seeing how far i could go. i had a come to god moment when my egg finally cracked cause it was like "you can either enjoy this fully but be miserable in every other aspect of your life" or "you give up the only thing in this world that you've found that brings you joy to jump into the abyss and hope that it works out".
i ended up trooning, and going back to training, though it's been... fragmented. i spent two years taking a break, doing the hrt stuff, telling myself that it was too malebrained for me to do. finally that babytrans phase ended and i spent a few months at my university's judo club, then i graduated, then i found a muay thai gym, but it turned out to be full of chuds so i decided to hold off on finding a kther gym til after ffs.
then i found another muay thai gym and was stealth there for about a year and a half but they kept wanting me to compete and i kept making excuses and finally i ended up burning out cuz it was like "what am i actually training for". i switched to bjj cuz i figured that there i could at least have the belts to work towards, but since i hadn't had srs yet i got clocked there. luckily the ppl at this gym seem pretty chill for the most part: the owner is explicitly trans friendly, has a trans lives matter thing up on the wall, and one of the coaches is trans; however it still feels weird and id prefer to be stealth there like i was at the muay thai gym.
i took a few months off for srs and am now getting back into it. i reached out to the muay thai people and finally told them i was trans and asked what options there were for competing and they basically said "ya you'd have to fight men" which is pretty yikesy to me, but they gave me the name of a trans woman who has fought men in the ring, though i have yet to reach out to her.
dunno. i don't have *the answer* but that's kinda my story.

reading this thread, I am once again deeply grateful to have always hated sports. just being straight up banned from one of your hobbies sounds horrible

I really emphasize with the "you can either enjoy this fully but be miserable in every other aspect of your life" or "you give up the only thing in this world that you've found that brings you joy to jump into the abyss and hope that it works out." That was me with Judo I had been doing it since I was a kid, and later started wrestling in high school. When my egg started to crack I felt so miserable because I knew I had to give up on these sports that give me joy and lose connections to my coaches and classmates are I deeply cared about. But I just hated seeing myself go through puberty and continue to age as a man so I had to give everything up. I’m currently hoping that in a few years I’ll be able to find a gym not filled with chuds and be able to start again like you. Really want to continue Judo and get into Muay Thai. But until then I guess I’ll just suffer haha.

hang in there anon; you'll make it out and it'll all be worth it.

desu i kinda wish that i had the guts to try to find a gym that was accepting and just train there as a tranny. thinking about how good i could've been at this point had i just kept training consistently throughout is kinda heartbreaking. the safety aspect is very real, and you know your situation better than i, but if i could go back in time and give myself some advice it'd be to not hold myself back from training on account of not wanting to get clocked.

good luck friend, we need more trans people in combat sports <3
