The meteor has an as-yet undocumented element, known ingame as 115. A research organization begins, known as Group 935, headed by German Dr. Maxis. These people swear secrecy and live onsite, coming from all the world's nations.World War 2 happens, Maxis seeks funding with the nazi party for researching the emergent 115 technology; namely teleportation, Wunderwaffe ("Wonder Weapon") tech, perk-a-cola sodas, the Pack-A-Punch machine, and reanimating the dead. In comes a doctor working under Maxis: an illuminati plant named Edward Richtofen. Richtofen likes teleportation, and the math checks out, so he tests the teleportation of a small walnut, successfully sending it through a wall. But Maxis is on commission for weapons and zombie soldiers, and dismisses the teleportation project. So, Richtofen decides to be a guinea pig to prove himself. But he disappears. And he winds up on the moon. On that moon is a pyramid and some ancient writing, more on that later. Richtofen touches the pyramid device, and starts hearing ze voices of ze damned und ze doomed, more specifically, the voices of the Apothicons, ancient aliens who want to end reality. More on them later.

They start taking war prisoners from WW2 to experiment on, and they sandbag Dr. Maxis' teleporter and zombie research while secretly knowing how both of them work. Until one day, Richtofen conspires to kill Maxis, and his daughter and dog too. He sends them through the teleporter, accidentally turning the dog Fluffy into the first Hellhound (she was pregnant and the hounds are her pups), and Samantha Maxis and Dr. Maxis are on Griffin Station to be captured. But Samantha triggers the pyramid device, henceforth known as the Moon Pyramid Device or MPD, and her soul is trapped within it. Now she has control of the Aether, which Dr. Maxis weaponizes by telling her to kill all of Group 935, furthering the emotional trauma for her by killing himself in front of her. So that kicks off the story of CoD:WAW Nazi Zombies. Richtofen and three prisoners/research patients are forced to fight off zombies and travel across Group 935 locales to wrench control of the MPD away from Samantha, because Richtofen wants to have that power for himself. In his research he learns of things that can be found or crafted, then put together to create what amounts to a key to unlock the MPD.

The byproduct of this is that the four of them are now bound to each other through all of reality, even other timelines and realities. Long story short, Richtofen achieves his goal of controlling the zombies with the MPD on Griffin Station, but Dr. Maxis' soul being trapped somehow in the computers of the base, he helps the other three and Samantha to counter him by blowing up the planet in order to sever its connection to the Aether. Their importance in the grand scheme of things isn't that important, the gist is that there are two 'quest' routes for the Victis Crew, one in which Richtofen gains full power over the Aether and uses this power to ascend once more, and another in which Maxis uses radios and other technology to convince the Victis crew to remove Richtofen from power and give Maxis control over the Aether. The latter is canon, after which Maxis uses his power to bring Richtofen's soul into a zombie body, which is, ostensibly, the end for him.But this connection through all of reality winds up causing ripples in said reality. Now that they're stuck together across time and space, paradoxical and altered versions of them start cropping up. Nikolai, fighting a grand war in Stalingrad with dragon-taming technology. Takeo, taken as a guinea pig for liquified 115 and 115 botany research in Japan. Dempsey, held in stasis on Griffin Station amid an emergency.And a little French dig site, in 1918.

This is the same Samantha from the MPD, the same one who had occupied the body of Richtofen for ten years until Maxis gained control and took her out of it. She's reaching between dimensions to try and fix what seems to be a growing corruption in the multiverse, caused by Element 115 and Richtofen's machinations.Through a series of interpreted tomes and ancient faux-magic forces, the four ascend into Agartha, and it is revealed that they have reached a new home. A house suspended in a safe-haven dimension, by the creator of the multiverse himself, Doctor Monty.Doctor Monty wants them to fix this fustercluck by going to new dimensions in order to undo the corruption of four specific timelines of the cast. As reward, Richtofen and Samantha have both been given essentially true-self souls inhabiting child bodies to grow up in this nice little pocket dimension. But *only* if they deal with this. So Monty sends them off on a treasure hunt, to undo some of those alternate timelines. But Richtofen, understanding his situation, uses the artifacts and powers granted by Monty to craft an escape plan. After they're done saving the multiverse, nothing stops Monty from just erasing them from reality as punishment for their other selves' transgression!So Richtofen crafts a paradox.

But through Shadows of Evil, we learn who he is and the danger he poses to reality. Let's go back a bit, shall we?Mob of the Dead. Alcatraz prison. Four hardened criminals plan an escape by plane. Michael "Finn" O'Leary, Salvatore "Sal" DeLuca, Billy Handsome, and most importantly, the brains of this operation, Albert "Weasel" Arlington.Crafting the machine with an old air conditioning unit, some laundry, some gears and rope, and a prayer. But something goes wrong in the execution, and they're caught before they can leave. Weasel is fingered as the one behind this plan failing, and so the other three murder him, before being sentenced to the electric chair.But this isn't the end for them. The warden just so happened to be speaking to who he thought was the devil, Satan from the Bible. Or as he liked to be called, the Shadow Man. As it turns out, this stunt was planned by forces far greater than the four mobsters could have ever expected.

And he's using the sins of these men as fuel for something. On to the prohibition era town of Morg City. The Shadowman finds a desperate journeyman boxer. He calls the promoter, sewing seeds of doubt about an upcoming fight, to convince the boxer to slip brass knuckles on under his gloves. He hires a private eye to snap photos of someone's private affairs, to convinces a popular actress and starlet that she needs to silence the photographer for good, to keep her secret safe and her career intact. He finds a down-and-out failed magician, the great Nero, and poses as a debt collector, hiring someone to send notice for a great debt, so that he might turn on his wife and killer her during 'routine practice' for the life insurance money. And finally, he spreads rumors to back a corrupt police officer into a corner, to hide the bribery he profits off of by killing his partner.These four sinners are trapped in Morg City, just like the mobsters. But now we see what happens when enough bloodshed and chaos is stirred up by this Shadow Man figure. He tells the four of them, they need to perform fresh new sacrifices in order to save their dimension from ruin. What he doesn't say is that the saviors would be there to consume it whole.

The power that 115 has is immense, enough to topple Monty's power for good. Our heroes in Morg City fight back however, and use the tool of their ceremonial sacrifices, the Summoning Key, to trap Shadow Man's soul inside. This is also the device that harvests the souls of humans. The same device that Richtofen uses to fix the multiverse.Back to the present. Doctor Maxis begins hearing the voice of a pleading man coming from this Summoning Key, and not knowing of the Shadow Man, releases him. And the Apothicons wreak havoc on the whole of creation. Doctor Monty, out of options, calls upon the Ultimis crew to do one last job, and fight back these forces, with the help of uncorrupted Keepers and their ancient technology.After defeating Shadow Man once and for all, Monty tries to erase the crew from reality, in retaliation for their ballsing up the natural order. But he can't. Because Richtofen held onto those blood vials. So Richtofen strikes up a deal. Monty could perhaps send the four of them somewhere far away from this reality. Somewhere they can save the day, be the heroes, and then live out their lives in peace.So Monty sends the crew back to their home universe. And they arrive in a medieval France, envoys to Monty and the Keepers, to warn the men of Earth of the Apothicons coming to their universe.And the cycle begins anew. Over, and over, and over. In Black Ops 4, they actually break the timeline so they no longer have to fight in this time loop, but that's beyond my own understanding because I stopped at BO3, aha...Thank you for coming to my ted talk, anon, I hope you sleep well as I'm about to. <3
