Any one work a public facing job as a man/boymoder who looks kind of obviously trans, or just a non-passing trans woman? Do you get shit? Starting a new job at the end of the month. I'm nervous desu.

im sure you pass just fine sweetheart
maybe a picture would help us verify
>>
>>44966419
I'm not convinced boymoders run into many problems (granted they're actually wearing men's clothes) because people tend to gender you on voice if they're not sure of your gender.

ehhh, I've already posted in passgen.
See >>44950500 & >>44953925

I haven't voice trained (not sure I want to), so I'm definitely not gonna pass as cis. I've also already met my coworkers and was introduced to them as he/him, though my name is unisex and more fem than not.
>>
>>44966621
you pass decently well
there's a lot of hot girls on passgen today
>>
The men in the locker room crack jokes that i dont change in there. (Machine shop)
>>
Usually strangers just go back and forth between she or he. Usually I get theys a lot which is weird. The worst is maam because I think they’re saying man (like bro not being transphobic).

when I worked as a server boymoding I would usually have my hair up in a claw clip or in a braid (no, it wasn't THAT feminine bc my hair was layered so it looked kind of like a medium length layered guys cut with a braid coming out). Most people would sir me, even though my customer service voice was more faggy and feminine than my normal voice. Sometimes people would later apologize to me and say they thought that perhaps they had been misgendering me, as though they were discussing what I was at the table after I left? I just said any pronouns were fine. I got ma'am'd by some people and I just wouldn't say anything. Thankfully that never happened around my coworkers.
I was closeted at this job ofc because the owner and all of my coworkers were muslim men except for me. One time my boss started acting weird because he found a picture of me with a light beard from before I transitioned and did laser and I accidentally said it was me. He had thought it was someone with the same name as me or someone trying to steal my identity before I said anything. My complete loss of facial hair made him very suspicious. I quickly changed the subject and avoided him the rest of the day and it blew over.
In general the most awkward thing was my coworkers trying to get me to convert to Islam and saying they would get me a muslim wife, etc. All because I tried to learn a little arabic from them to pass the time and to help me communicate better with some of the customers. Sometimes my boss would also tell me I had beautiful hair and call me a "our very handsome waiter", and I found that awkward too.
I was generally surprised though that I never got confronted or outed or hatecrimed, so I think my initial fears were worse than the sometimes strange but mostly normal reality.

I'm retarded at typing long comments

Legal docs and voice still say male. When meeting my new coworkers, some did seem a little confused at first desu.

>>44966758
How long did you manage that? I figured I'd try to boymode for at least 6 months and come out when I get my paperwork updated. The job is with the city government, so I'm hoping it won't be too big a deal.

>>44966733
Do you think they know?
>>
>>44966848
They probably think im just gay. Im too moided
>>
>>44966930
post yourself in passgen

I worked at the arab restaurant for 9 months and no one suspected anything. This was my fourth year on HRT and near being fully finished with laser and electrolysis. I quit because I was tired of working 6 days a week and my boss started to be a dick to everyone because the restaurant was failing.

If you work around other lgbtq people or honestly anything that isn't a boys club then it's usually fine. Grocery store was pretty good for me since like 1/3rd the employees were gay failures and/or had autism. If you come out, there's a likelihood that one or two people won't try to gender you correctly for w/e reason, so you need to come up with a plan to deal with that.

The job is with the local government. Didn't see any one who is noticeably lgbt. Coworkers are kinda diverse though. I may be the youngest (early 30s).

Well nona, I don't know your situation too well, but your passgen selfie looks perfectly fine to me. I think you'd be perfectly okay with your preferred name and pronouns. Personally, I don't pass, at all, but I'm taking steps toward improving myself and my passability as my estrogen starts to take effect. Lasering my face every week, growing my hair out and deleting eczema, losing weight, etc.. I've already come out to my managers and a set of coworkers who seem sympathetic. I lightly joke about it and don't concern anyone with my pronouns or my chosen name yet given my situation. At work a manager of my shift said something about 'one of the boys' doing something and apologized, but it was easily smoothed over because she and I have a decently tight rapport since I started there 9 or so months ago. Earlier this morning I was absolutely grossed the fuck out by the men's room (adult diaper overflowing with liquid shit scattered on the floor), my shift manager said men are gross and I concurred with a joke about transitioning to escape it.

This is Ohio, which is...not overly kind to trans people. I've had some hard-right-wing people come in and rant about the liberals to me at checkout when I make light small talk, seemingly unaware that I'm growing my hair out for a reason, which feels sometimes like being the nearest bystander of a drive-by shooting, but I'm pretty experienced with dealing with some particularly awful people over my decade in customer facing work....

Glad your coworkers are supportive, nona. Doesn't sound too bad. I figure I'm just not gonna say anything till I end up changing my documents. Kinda want to give more time on HRT + laser. If anyone asked, I won't deny it. I don't know though, I have really bad social anxiety and a lot of shame revolving around being trans. I've been living as a hermit for the last few months, barely going out.

When I went into to sign my offer letter and met the team, I could tell they thought something was up. They were all very nice though, beside one woman who barely said anything and gave me a weird look, but that does not necessarily mean it's because she clocked me. Who knows, I spend too much time in my head worrying about this stuff.

I am a little worried about the customers, though. They'll mostly be contractors, so blue collar dudes :/ Face-to-face service is a small part of the job though.
>>
>>44966621
Voice train, you will pass then.
>>
>>44968527
I'm sorry nona. If it's any consolation I've had similar customers, not contractors but blue collar people. And the regulars seem amenable to the possibility I'm, shall we say, abnormal. I give life updates with some and we exchange stories at checkout.
Good luck. I habeeb in you <3

unstable tranny rant: I'm an amazon driver. it sucks! I hate being alive! I can't keep it together anymore! I'm crying all the time! I'm so hideous! I threw my life away to look this hideous. it's funny. I was in the middle of sobbing when I made that realization, like "I threw my life away to look like this" as I'm cackling and giggling while tears are continuing to run. it feels horrible being so off putting to everybody and constantly having to exist in the world and like I've never been so fat and miserable and dysfunctional.
took me 20 minutes to put my clothes in the dryer, ate apple pie I baked in 2 meals between yesterday and today, spent all my days off in bed. I'm not well!
>>
>>44968690
Sorry nona. How long have you been on HRT? Are people giving you shit for being trans?
