For those uninformed, it's the belief that ancient white people had already colonized America before the Native Americans arrived. What it is actually, is that both whites and Native Americans have shared ANE ancestry, and the environment in eastern and to a degree central North America is broadly similar to Europe's and this created a convergent selection of traits from this background. Natives in the extreme south of South America (also temperate) also faced similar selection, but it was a much less populated area. Those in the tropics obviously selected for other traits they had inherited from their AEA ancestry and so were less similar.
