>>44978116this is the answer. it's why certain white countries that are still very family-oriented (like many eastern or southern european countries) are lagging behind others wrt trans acceptance. economic development tends to speed up the process a lot, ireland for example went from being a place where gays and trannies got beaten to death to legalising same-sex marriage and gender self-identification within like 20 years after liberalising its economy and opening up to foreign investment, which led to the so-called "celtic tiger" where it went from being one of the poorest EU countries to one of the wealthiest. when this happened the church and family values started losing importance very quickly.

>>44978091>Why is it that whiter countries tend to be more trans accepting?i think it's mostly that if you break the world down into "white" vs. "nonwhite" countries, the "nonwhite" category contains subgroups which are extremely bad on trans issues (most of africa, most muslim-majority nations), dragging their average down. there are plenty of decent "nonwhite" countries, like thailand, but if you are averaging thailand with uganda you are going to get an uninformative result.
