T definitely does do a lot, but I think what might even be a bigger reason why MTFs have a harder time passing is because men are allowed to be clocky and women aren't. Call it societal beauty standards or misogyny or whatever. Fact is, a clocky man (cis or not) will mostly not get clocked, even when it's bad enough that people joke about his height/birthing hips/other lack of male features. A clocky woman will usually get clocked, unless the surrounding environment is very unaware of trans people.

oh yes, voice is heavily underrated. i've experienced people gendering me one way and correcting themselves after hearing me speak (happened in both directions).

also if you don't pass visually but voicepass and behaviorpass, cissoids are probably very likely to understand it if you explain you're born in the wrong body. think of the frog prince, everyone would believe a talking frog claiming to be a man trapped in a frogs body and would see/treat him like a man (at least to some degree). i believe that would be considered soulpassing.

regarding beauty standards, i think it's also misogyny and beliefs about how women are soft and vulnerable and men are violent and threatening, which is why trans women are seen more as a threat and people focus more on clocking them. e.g. men are a lot more worried about unintentionally hooking up with a tranny than women are worried about pooners.
