>>44980733this is a question i ask myself a lot because this idea is incredibly bizzare on its surface. like, sex is one characteristic of a body, but there are so many others, so why is sex the one thing people could want to change? why dont we have trans-heightists and trans-hairists, etc. but then I am reminded that we do. people want to change everything about themselves. people want to change every aspect of their body and of how they are precieved. I think the reason transsexual is the most talked about form of i guess... body modification? self modification? is because sex is the most socially important biological attribute. in every single society people are divided by sex. so while you may see one community have different culture than another, inside both communities men and women have slightly different cultures. its the one social divider that every person in the world is exposed to essentially from birth. so i think trans people exist is because we us creatures are too erratic I guess to be satisfied with what we are given, be it sex hair colour nose shape, etc.
