>>44994722learn music theory, ideally via an instrumentalso stop using bandlab use a real DAW nona(reaper is free and amazing)but music theory really is the way it allows you to connect the strings together so to speakfor example heres a progression in D major(with some chromatic chords) : D Am/D(XX0210) Csus2 G/D(XX0003) Dmaj7 Am(XX C Fmaj7 for a riff you could you something like Dmaj7 G/D Am/D C where D is the root for most of it I also like Fminor and you could do something weird like Bbm7 Fm7 Cm7 and just repeat that Theres a lot of pretty simple progressions you could turn into riffs if youre creative enough like uhh idk Am Em C F I like this one it sounds kinda sad I recently started playing guitar(got mine almost a year ago but only rlly started playing in the last couple months)If you want to figure how to connect notes you could do the simple dominant thing where you look at a scale(say E major), and see what the fifth is(the fifth note in the scale, which in this case is B)so you could do Emaj7 Bmaj7 Fmaj7 I dont fucking know doeven the weirdest music still needs melodies(I used to make this kind of sound collage/glitch/lofi pop kind of music but have had trouble for a while since it turns out forming songs on a micro level is really hard if your sense of arrangement isnt superb + such things still need a vague sense of melody which is difficult to make from disconnected sounds)heres an example: https://koykoykoy.bandcamp.com/track/gpidk do music theory lol theres so much to learn like uh chord types(diminished, minor, major, suspened, augmented etc.)
