Except that's not what's been happening at all. Spain improved significantly in the last 3 years. Serbia has a lesbian president for crying out loud. Greece (you can't get more American aligned than that these days) also significantly improved in the last 2 years. So did smaller heavily American-aligned places like Slovenija and Latvia.
Also, there are no "non-aligned" states. This isn't the 1970s. And you can in fact import trump-style rhetoric even without Trump existing (see Uganda from 2012 onwards) or without being US-aligned (see Niger).
