when did u have ur name changed nona? or when are u gonna do it? it's hard to know when the right time to do that shit is in a transition and it's especially weird considering future stuff like job interviews and the like
I wanna ditch my stupid moid name but it's also scary cuz what if it makes me seem like more of a hon
>>
>>45060290
I will get my name changed when I will at least be semipassoid, as long as I'm a hon I don't deserve my agpname
>>
ur name dont matter. terms r merely references to a definition. no one cares if cis female is named john or ryan. if anything its ironic, unless you are non-passing, then it wouldnt be funny, in which case dont change ur name; in both cases, dont change ur name
>>
>>45060395
but I wanna actually see my name on my ID and not wanna rope....
>>
I'm over 3 years into transitioning and don't have a new name. Nothing fits me, so I use my initial as a permanent placeholder.
>>
>>45060290
i only changed it legally after a few years + ffs so i was passing and not a lilith its maam caricature. really need to get my new id lol
>>
>>45060463
I'm lowkirk probably gonna do my legal change after ffs too ngl
just feels wrong using my moidname when im semi passoid atp
>>
>>45060404
do it then? you don't need validation from the people here
>>
>>45060395
>no one cares if cis female is named john or ryan
yet we bullied the girl in our 5th grade class whose middle name was douglass
>>
>>45060290
2 years ago, weird having people tell me my parents gave me a pretty name when I named myself.

I already picked my girl name tho??? and it's a good one not some Emily shit
>>
>>45060290
I will when I am happy with where I am in my tranistion. I'm not there yet, though pretty much everyone already calls me by my preferred name, as it's my childhood nickname: "Jamie."

they are not in good faith. the objectively best time to start the name and gender marker change is right now. even in the most trans-friendly jurisdictions there is so much paperwork and so much wait time. if you're in the US, in a state where it's possible to change your name and gender, you really want to position yourself so you can change your federal documentation as soon as another democrat is in the white house

I changed my this spring but the government is so incompetent it hasn't legally happened yet
I'm just waiting for it to finally happen
also having an old ID with like fully masc picture is kinda silly and cute
>>

>right now
fuuuuck fr????????
>>45060673
it doesnt feel very silly it in fact feels quite mortifying
>>
Probably never

I plan to get my name changed one year into HRT transition. That gives me time to lose some weight, work on my skin and body hair more permanently (laser my ugly ass moid face especially), and do the paperwork to establish myself a little bit as my future name. I put my new name on postage and anything that isn't explicitly legal as-is.

idk, whenever I go to bars/clubs and get carded I tell the bouncer "I got a haircut" and we all laugh
when I go to get my prescription I'm like glamming it up like yes I'm [super manly deadname] here for my estrogen~
>>
>>45060586
i could care less if the person is named some bullshit like gertrude as long as theyre hot
>>
>>45060693
well, not right now if you live in a state like texas or florida. but if you can legally change your name and gender where you live, you should get the ball rolling on that. even in my extremely blue state, it took me a solid year of prior paperwork (court orders etc.) before i could petition for a new driver's license. it took me almost the whole biden admin to get my birth certificate and federal documents (both ssi and passport) changed. if the paperwork gets jammed up, or if there's a strike, you can end up waiting six months for paperwork that's supposed to take "6-8 business weeks." and now, with all the states that have made gender marker changes illegal, several of which house major passport processing centers, it'll probably take significantly longer to affect federal document changes, even under a democratic administration. the sooner, the better, when it comes to government paperwork

>>45060290
got it all done fairly quick around the start of my transition a couple years ago, but yeah names don't really matter like even when I tell people my name is Mary I never get referred to as anything other than "they" by the general public. It doesn't really bother me at all since I'm nonbinary, but just my observation
>>
>>45060726
how are things in robotland?
>>45060755
lol that's good for you I guess
>>45060801
jesuuus that sounds so fucking annoying
problem is im like ABOUT to get my drivers license AND married very soon so its already so much to deal with
idk I might hold off until next year
>>
>>45060885

great.

>>45060290
>41 67
i started the process at 17 and got my id at 19 bc the public lawyers and the judge and the guys from my register office (?) and myself are all retarded
>>
>>45060290
I got mine changed once I wasn't really recognizable as my old ID anymore, not necessarily fully passing, but once your old ID is different enough that it could be an issue, it's time.

if I had to put a time in my transition to it, probably ~3 years in? long enough for my body and face to have changed, but before I got ffs. it depends on how quickly your body takes to hormones and how much effort you put into your presentation.

if you feel like picrel then it's time desu

>>
>>45061619
that's okay I was just gonna call you by it and hope to see you blush a little
>>
>>45061653
all my friends and husbant have been calling me this shit for years unfortunately I shan't be phased by the novelty anymore but ur very kind
>>
>>45061354
sounds like you're pretty much exactly where I was when I got mine changed. just keep doing your makeup and try to get started with the process.

if you're like me then the being scared all the time is lowkey just a feature of your person, you'll learn to manage it better, but it'll probably still be something you deal with for a while at least.
>>
>>45061733
100%
I fucking despise being trans this shits so high stress all the time uguuuu .......
>>
>>45061804
I try to enjoy it where I can, and at the very least I'm happier after transitioning. like it's horrific occasionally don't get me wrong, but it's better than the alternative, it's just life. try to find ways to be grateful when you can for the good moments, because those moments being good is as inherent to your transness as being trans is to you.
>>
>>45060290
Never, I will manmode until I die.
