this isn't really about intelligence though, it's just taste. my bf has more simple tastes than me in a lot of aspects like he's a pretty typical cis guy who likes christopher nolan movies, has a tiktok feed full of dumb memes and gymbros, etc whereas i'm more like the gf in this post (don't use social media, well-read, do cryptic crosswords for fun, etc) but in terms of actual intelligence well he has a degree from one of the best universities in our country and makes twice the average salary as a software developer so he's obviously smart. i also think it's an extremely burger thing to act like speaking multiple languages (five of which are from the same language family and share a lot of characteristics and vocabulary roots btw lol i never even learned portuguese but understand it for the most part) makes someone smart when in europe it's just average lol i speak five languages fluently and i use three of them daily and i don't feel special for it.

yeah and that's why everyone clowns on french people lol but they're kinda unique. my boss at work is french and has been here for ten years and he can't speak the local language and has an incomprehensible french accent in english. i'm talking about people from smaller euro countries in central and eastern europe, most people here at least among the younger generations speak 2-3 languages at least.

No we don't, most people speak their native + english good or excellent. One extra language, usually german, french or spanish is also common but its not the norm.
