like it's surprisingly easy to get vocal strain and puts you out action for a while (and it accumulates if you push through), you need to actually nail down the proper muscles and form to shape your voice before you try and push them, and that process is very individualistic

As someone who wants to begin voice training but knows absolutely nothing about it, where do I begin? Which guides are good?

This thread motivated to not immediately give up on voicetraining just because it feels too emotionally taxing but I don't even know where to begin. I've watched tons of videos about it and I can independently change my pitch and resonance, but I can't tie any of it together and I've never managed to speak with a raised resonance. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and neither how to proceed.

Voice training will never change the anatomy that T forced on you and for many of us that's distressing. You wouldn't tell someone with bottom dysphoria that it's valid to be a heckin dickgirl in current year (though atp who even cares what people choose for their own lives) because that's rightfully understood to be extremely tonedeaf.

Even if we assume voice training worked for everyone (which it doesn't), it still will never remove your male range. Some people don't care about that and others do, but you need surgery for that because behavioral training will not fix it.

voice training will make it natural to the point you don't have to focus on it anymore. Surgery will leave scars on your vocal cords that can clock you to people in the know. It will also give most people great difficulty raising their volume as well as ruining a singing career if you ever wanted one.

Most of these are non issues for most trans women. But you will need voice training after surgery anyways because trannies who don't do that tend to go back to their male voice over time due to lack of technique. They also sound really unnatural, can't emphasize that enough.

I get my info from a voice trainer who's known internationally and is in frequent contact with the surgeons who are in the lead of this field. She's actively involved in making the process better. I've seen videos of results from the vocal cords both while getting fused in the surgery as well as the after results. Yes it leaves a small hole. And yes the scar tissue does makes a difference in the sound quality. A lot of people can achieve much better results with voice training than with surgery.

Your vocal cords are something that you have to train like a muscle. If you do voice training properly and don't maintain yur male voice, you will genuinely be unable to use your male voice again even if you try. I used to talk at 100Hz. I can barely even reach that low anymore, my voice cracks when I try. And when I try to do a deep voice it sounds like my friend when she tries to do a male voice.

I've been slacking for a bit but I'm actively talking at around 200Hz nowadays, I can go a bit higher if I try. I can make sounds up to 450Hz now, which is much higher than before. You only need up to 300Hz for speaking though, I just kinda wanna break glass with my voice someday. Oh and I'm currently focusing on overtones(?) (English isn't my native tongue, soz) so that my voice will sound more warm and whole, at which point it'll hopefully stop sounding androgynous and I'll have a deep fem voice instead (which is what I want)
