D&D had key info about the ending straight from martin himself, but they kept giving major character arcs to other characters instead
One of those cases I believe is the "mad targ" plot see ADWD opens with clear foreshadowing to jon warging into ghost, while also establishing that untrained wargs can easily lose themselves and go mad and no one will be there to teach jon on how to control his warg abilities, it’s likely he may even attempt to warg into a dragon
I believe after the long night, jon will be the one who goes mad
I think D&D learned about that and refused to follow it, since they had built Jon much more hero-like than he is meant to be in the books

It just doesn't seem in character to burn Shireen. Stannis would burn himself before his daughter. It seems more reasonable Melisandre and Selyse to burn Shireen without his consent (probably to resurrect Jon Snow) and then cause the implosion of the Baratheon family and Stannis to apostatize from R'hllor, then doing a Rob's Will kind of thing where he legitimizes Edric and/or Mya and declares them his heirs before dying.

There is no way to survive with a single a year, especially for how many clans there are. We get mention of them in world raiding and being uppity. Iron islands are ranked above the north as the north likes to send people off to die so they will actually be able to survive winter. We never heard of anything that bad in the island. Dorne has a lot of shithole parts but its generally safer from wars and disease in a similar way to the vale but more so. I didnt rank crownlands because its really just the best parts of a couple other kingdoms.

The problem is Gurm made all the kingdoms heavily populated (other than the North) with villages and castles right up to the borders of the neighboring kingdoms which are full of villages and castles, leaving nowhere for primitive clans to exist (the mountains of the Vale being uninhabitable during winter and mostly uninhabitable during summer).

My personal theory about Euron's suspicious acquisition of the full-Armor plate of Valyrian steel is that he somehow made a "deal with the devil" (in Westeros'i terms, of course) of sorts.

Euron acquired the armor by encountering some magical entity / group / demi-god / cult etc. (in the past) and pledging to "sell" his Kingship of the Iron Islands (ONCE he has acquired it) ... IN EXCHANGE FOR the Valyrian suit.
The "entity", whatever it was, AGREED, giving Euron the suit, and announcing that it would appear at a later point to take over Rule of the Iron Islands, AFTER they have been "transformed" by future-King Euron's politics and Magics, into a form DESIRED BY said Entity.

THUS, we arrive at what might potentially be Euron's UNDOING in future events:
THEON somehow makes his way back to the Iron Islands and informs the worthy conservative faction that doesn't full-on support Euron that he (Euron) is planning to BETRAY THEM ALL, as part of some sacrificial blood pact (or something) with some Otherworldly entity.

A possibility I like for Varys is that there is no secret motivation behind his actions. He's not a Blackfyre or a Targ or anything like that. He's just purely interested in power and is doing or saying anything that he thinks will work. His whole supporting FAegon is because he thinks that the narrative of the the lost Targ scion coming back to claim his birthright is the one that will be most likely to work and has no emotional investment in him at all.

Arson Iceaxe is a massive clue to the endgame I think. The two elements that make up the title of the series can be found in his name and the axe part is basically a soft confirmation that the wall is indeed made up of trees.

The north side of the bay of crabs seems sparsely populated. Not much merchant marine traffic, part of the vale but not in the three main valleys, still st risk from the mountain clans. But if it's like Ireland as it seems to be the mountains should be full of silver and there's decent farmland, plus there'd be minimal political problems from neighbours.

You're talking about the legend of the creation of a magical steel that took place during the Long Night, 5,000 years ago by the Last Hero. It has nothing to do with the prophecy of TPTWP, since they aren't the same people

It's crazy that some readers don't seem to realize that Martin writes the characters from their POV and therefore how the religious characters think, interpret the world, and end up getting everything mixed up

We don't know why exactly the Long Night came to end but it sure isn't because "Azor Ahai" killed "Nissa Nissa", if you look at the legend we are just told that it ended when a unamed hero lead a battle against the darkness, not when he killed Nissa Nissa

According to what we’ve been told, the Last Hero was searching for the Singers, he was being hunted by the Others and his sword broke because of the frost, most likely while he was fighting an Other:

I wonder if the souls in Valyrian steel are awake and suffering. Probably. Be a hell of a thing if MelMel could just tear them out of their fire aspected steel hell and consume them for power or knowledge. They're still not great and potentially easily damaged. The arakh is mostly a bronze weapon rather than iron among the egyptians too, so that's out. Form factor weirdness. But the GLORIOUS NIPPONU STEEL was only really good against armour of any sort if stabbing was engaged in, and even then they tended to be a bit iffy compared to a standard euro sword.
